I think Punky would have been a great adition to Kiss. With Meadows in the band, he wouldn't have been treated as a mere musician since he wrote all the songs in Angel, a band who also had a very powerful stage presence to match. In that context, Eric Carr might have been treated better as well.
Not sure if he would have fit in with all the 80’s shredders....but you make great points. Probably would have been a better fit if Ace left in the 70’s Vs. the 80’s
Insult? Sounds like Punky was doing a professional courtesy that Gene and Paul would have probably expected if a guitarist was thinking of leaving them. Too me, Gene and Paul were acting like unprofessional Divas having a hissy fit, which ended up costing them a real quality guitarist that could have made their post-Ace recordings sound so much better. As well, Punky probably would have contributed songs that would have made post-Ace Kiss recordings so much better. Except for Mark St. Jean, the other guitarists were never able to contribute guitar and song-writing in any degree to what Ace contributed to KISS
Mark St. John didn't write at all for "Animalize." No writing credits. The post-Ace guitarist who contributed the most writing was Vinnie Vincent. But he had other problems, of course.
Bruce Kulick is an amazing guitarist and song writer, he has some of the greatest solos of Kiss's history along with Ace. Both great players on their own right and style. Love them both.
@@80sglammetalcast so true.....I spent 20 years as a professional musician, and 35 now as a luthier. The stories you hear, just st NAMM shows are unreal, that's why I love the show. You get even better stuff 🤣😂🤣
Lol....Angel actually were better musicians and to me, had a even better stage presence than Kiss EVER had! Be honest Gene knew how to market KISS..brilliant businessman..but the bands trademark was makeup..and stage shows..NOT nearly as musically talented as ANGEL! KISS OFF!! 😂
Paul would never allow someone prettier than him in Kiss.
Punky probably dodged a bullet there...

he would have been a very good replacement
Punky Meadows in vastly underrated; Kiss is WAY overrated ...

The Poor Conservative LOL...Definitely would have been the way to handle it. I guess that’s why managers should be involved😂
