The absolute miracle run from Ireland to win it, amazing. An idea for another sim would be countries who have come 'closest' to winning the world cup. Closest is a bit hyperbolical here as you would have to go back to the quarterfinals to get 32 teams. Excluding 2022, 34 teams have reached atleast the world cup quarterfinals before being knocked out.
The teams are: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cameroon, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Cuba, Czech Republic (all top 8 appearances as Czechoslovakia), Denmark, East Germany (defunct), Ghana, Hungary, Mexico, Netherlands, North Korea, Northern Ireland, Paraguay, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia (all but one top 8 appearances as Soviet Union), Senegal, Serbia (all top 8 appearances as Yugoslavia), South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United States and Wales.

its a glitch in fm, if the player misses yet scores the rebound it will say they missed the penalty but also scored it. Another glitch I noticed with penalties is if you change the player to take it at the very last opportunity, it will still show the previous player due to take it on the scoresheet. its quite buggy in fm23
Keep these going! I’d genuinely enjoy watching these even after the World Cup. That’s so many different variations you could do - oldest nations (historically the oldest nations), Commonwealth (former British colonies) and Defunct nations (USSR/Zaire) for a few examples. I’d love to see a few historical ones!

The most incredible sinulation! In all seriousness though, its clear to me that Ireland are going through an ascendency at the moment. Watching them in WC qualifiers they played really well against Portugal and Serbia in both matchups and scored goals for fun against Luxembourg and Azerbaijan with players aged just 18/19. Apart from some unlucky results they could have challenged for a spot and will very certainly be capable of going to Euro 2024. They also have LOADS of young talent coming through the ranks (Idah, Bazunu, Kelleher, etc) and are fun to watch, even as an Englishman watching Ireland I love them and want them to to well since they deserve it for their hard work.

I disagree with this. New zealand isn't there. We have players in the premiere league the Italian seria and most of our squad are in the MLS. We We the last team not to qualify for the world cup and pushed australia, Japan Peru and Costa Rica in the last 4 years. We lack palying quality opposition. And if Winston Reid was on our team we would be there or there abouts. We are not outside the top 100 like our world ranking suggests.

Another idea is a 32 team tournament using all 23 members of OEI aka Spanish/Portuguese speaking nations + Puerto Rico, Macau, Angola , Cape Verde , East-Timor , Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, & São Tomé and Príncipe(Spanish/Portuguese nations not a part of it)
I have a long football manager save atm on my laptop and I have won the world Cup with Ireland with ease and I'm 25 years in and some of the academy players and young talent they produce are amazing a true hidden fm gem on my saved game.....

I think it would be more interesting if its not only based on FIFA ranking, but also based on spot for each confederation. so every confederation has their own representative.
