Loved Brit since The OA. Disgraceful decision by Netflix to cancel it while keeping and funding so much trash. Brit has this soft spoken tone that belies a razor sharp intellect. She speaks so eloquently about her work, the movie industry and life. Such a great writer, actor and person.
The OA needs to come back and finish it's arc. Whether Netflix continues it or perhaps another platform provides the opportunity. There are so many of us that the show touched in a very real and fundamental way. Brit and Zal found a language that spans worlds within all of us. And we as fans scream into the void begging it's return. Hopefully someone out there with the power to make it happen will finally hear us. Thank you for this insightful interview. It was lovely.
I am still so freaking upset by the OA cancelation. I have watched season 1 and 2 over and over and over and over again. Brit please, I am begging you: at some point of your career, finish the story for us. Please. Even if its in writing.
The scripts for parts 3, 4, and 5 have been leaked. I bought copies from an anonymous source, paypal’d them and received official PDF’s via email. I didn’t think I would get anything real as a return on my payment but figured hey what the hell it’s just $300 who cares. But they seem legit, the stories are wild, and the ending is beyond mind blowing. Just insane out of this world wow.
The way she always looks at the interviewers, paying so much attention and showing genuine interest in what they are asking is so unique.. Like she is ❤ incredibly kind, sweet, ethereal 💫
when i first finished the oa, i was heart broken that it got cancelled. this show is so special. i’ve never seen anything like it. it has romance, comedie, character development, mystery, sci-fi, just basically out of the box thinking. it was truly an incredible show and i am begging for her to finish it. it is the best show i’ve ever watched. i don’t care if it’s just the script or in a show. i’m just very much hoping this show can be brought back and finished, do you think she could try to get it on somewhere different then netflix so it won’t be cancelled? because i truly believe if it was finished and put up, it would become as popular as stranger things. please bring The OA back!!! 😓🙏
I just wish I get to see how the OA ends in my lifetime. If not produced, then to at least hear of how it would have ended from Brit and Zal. That show life-affirmed my existence in ways I've never felt before. Thank you for making such an important piece of media Brit and Zal! You're up there with the greats. Curently watching Murder and enjoying it, loooove Emma as Darby, and Brit as Lee of course!
@@MarikaMeosSpeaking for myself: The OA affected me in different ways. I will never stop hating Netflix for stealing The OA from us. Brit Marling is brilliant!! I can't wait to see more of work especially now that she's really producing and directing. I'm loving AMATEOTW!!!!

Honestly The OA is one of the reasons why I didn't give up working in the film industry. I've worked on 19 movies and shows and the reason, aside from me loving working on projects, that I keep going is because of shows like The OA. Its such a special show. It confused me greatly but because of that I was more interested. The writing, acting, cinematography, everything. Only once in a while a show like that comes out it keeps me going that maybe I can work on a show like that.
Isn’t that so true. Similar story here. I’m in film making and work in photography. The OA is SUCH a special amazing beautiful near perfect show, at least season 1
The part where she said, "I've always been interested in how the mundane meets up with the metaphysical." I've always felt that, and felt that in her too! The OA was amazing and I'm excited to check out this new project!
The OA was a fantastic, unique, beautiful show. While I was watching it I couldn't believe I was watching such a well written show, with wonderful actors who brought the story to life. I was totally hooked. I was so sad then angry when I found out Netflix cancelled this series. I think the overall feeling of the plot was that pain and suffering happen so we can tap into something else more wonderful deep inside of us. The OA gave us a glimpse of something we all have thought about and felt ourselves and just put it in a way people could experience and understand it in a show. I mean science has even said alternate realities could very well be a reality with string theory and alternate "universes". It is a very great subject and really never described in the way Britt and Zal did it. Hopefully we will get our wish and see the continuation of the OA.
Hearing Brit talking about the mere possibility of The OA returning truly makes my heart sing!! I really hope it can happen one day. It certainly feels like a show that absolutely could come back and make quite the splash doing so.

@20:53 I'm so glad they're talking about the importance of weekly episode drops so people have time to debate and talk between episodes. That's EXACTLY what The OA needed. It was such as binge-able show, but if people were forced to wait a week between each episode the word of mouth would have driven an audience that rivaled Game of Thrones - seriously.
What OA and Twin Peaks have in common is us being on the investigation of the mystery. Both OA and Twin Peaks were created with healing in mind at the point in time where stories are reduced to costs, predictability and lack of imagination. There’s a book about what she mentions with regards to the female protagonist always either being the victim or becoming an assassin or what not. The book is called “Tough Gynes” by Stan Goff, and it’s a critique on strong women in cinema as honorary men.
I think A Murder is actually season 3 of The OA and Prairie jumped to Nina, then to Brit (herself irl), and then to Lee Anderson. I tell myself this because I never wanted The OA universe to end
"How do we make these 'Stories as Widgets' as fast as possible?," is the sharpest take on the whole tech-art-commerce situation that I've heard in a long time (I've worked in online education for 20 years -- the same patterns are there too). No surprise it comes from Brit. She, and Zal, have consistently created intelligent and interesting and thoughtful stories. They're a partnership that, for me -- I immediately get excited about and will watch whatever they create from the soonest possible moment.
Everyone wants The OA to come back. I do too, but please don't take the focus away from 'A Murder', which is equally as brilliant. I feel like in focusing specifically on The OA, some people aren't seeing the full Garden of Forking Paths that Brit, Zal, and the creative company they keep are tending to and creating. We're not seeing 'the forest for the trees', so to speak. Watch Sound Of My Voice, Another Earth, I Origins, The East, and the short film The Recordist. All of them are spiritual cousins, and there's a bit of truth in The OA scattered across all of them.
The OA spoke to me at a new depth. I wish the rest of it came out as a book at least. While watching I felt like something that has been asleep inside my psyche was at the same time hearing very loudly something in that show that my conscious self didn’t quite get. I feel like I need to end that journey, eager to reach that which is still dormant within
I wish the RUclips algorithm would mate with the Hulu algorithm and the Netflix algorithm and put all the videos and comments about the OA on the FYP of the CEO of Netflix so that they could finish the OA. I know it would make money. I would pay to watch it.
Had that same AI discussion with several people, it was honestly kind of heartbreaking that the response that I got about AI generated and increasingly "seen as a commodity" content is what does it matter if you can't tell the difference or at best a resigned "Well it's going to happen so why talk about it." Not saying I have a solution or anything resembling one, but art is an expression of the human experience and the more it is generated without our direct input the less I feel like it matters. AI tools can be useful equalizers for small businesses or creators of interactive media but like any tool I feel like it is being severely misused at present and I see it getting worse as it gets better.
Don't you feel like you wish you had a "Brit Marling" in your life? What a woman, I would sit and talk for hours on end with that beautiful mind. She oozes a mixture of peace and brilliance. #GottaLuvBrit
The OA was truly one of the best things to come out of Netflix, and I sorely hope Brit is able to revive the series at some point in time.

I feel like I need to end that journey, eager to reach that which is still dormant within
A crime that The OA was cancelled, Netflix blew it.
I wish the RUclips algorithm would mate with the Hulu algorithm and the Netflix algorithm and put all the videos and comments about the OA on the FYP of the CEO of Netflix so that they could finish the OA. I know it would make money. I would pay to watch it.
Brit is a genius writer, would be great if FX could maybe pick up where The OA left off?
It's crazy but there is no part and never has been a part of me that believes The OA isn't coming back some day.
Voglio un libro della storia e il continuo. Grazie😊
Bring back the OA!!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺
AI tools can be useful equalizers for small businesses or creators of interactive media but like any tool I feel like it is being severely misused at present and I see it getting worse as it gets better.
thank you 👏👏👏
I loved loved loved OA
Don't you feel like you wish you had a "Brit Marling" in your life? What a woman, I would sit and talk for hours on end with that beautiful mind. She oozes a mixture of peace and brilliance. #GottaLuvBrit
Brit is so bright, talented, articulate...and can I say, easy to look at? 😊
