For those asking about how the disc was printed, it's "LightScribe" DVD. Technology Connections has covered this. It's a system where specific discs (CDs or DVDs) had a coating on them that will be burned using the optical laser of the LightScribe labeled Disc Drives. I have a Full Size drive one for desktop computers. There are also ones for laptops.
i also have lightscribe dvd's and dvd drive i like lightscribe however the price rising for good quality discs with lightscribe and the fact of the ammount of time printing is a bit disappointing but i still nonetheless like that idea that hp did, also you are the first that i saw actually telling that technology connection did a video about it which i indeed watched to understand more about the magic happening inside lightscribe
I'm pretty sure it's a ROM hack and he either got a custom made for this video or might have been a real thing when it first came out, but the Nintendo took it down. But this is definitely a ROM hack. Either a custom-made disc or the original publishers of newer super Mario Bros. Wii made it for some reason

@@Contendo It’s less interesting the it sounds. The disc is a lightscribe disc, which lets you burn monochrome images to the label side of the disc using a special burner. Other than that it’s a normal blank dvd. all I modified was the banner, save banner, gameid, and the strap screen. So yeah it was just made for the video lol
the original models of wii rvl-001 can read regular dvd's and with a mod chip or software exploits can make the wqii think it always reading a original disc no matter what disc is in it
It could maybe be done on a wii disc, since there are certain dvd players that can read wii discs, so if you were to patch a nsmbwii rom with newer on the disc...it could potentially work
