Here is an excellent example of when a brilliant presentation and an equally brilliant designed watch converge. I’ve always been enamored with all things “space” related but incorrectly assumed that meteorite dialed watches were well beyond my budget to obtain. Thank you for introducing me to the Selten brand and their amazing designs! When the design and esthetics are quite literally out of this world, I couldn’t care less about the thickness. Very well done indeed!🥃
2 things to add to this:
- the brushing is very nice with small polished edges on case and bezel (a bit like a black bay)
- the kickstarter campaign was handled very smoothly by Selten and the way you should expect as a backer.
I picked up the adventurine dial one secondhand recently and while I agree if your emphasis is on the rare space rock dial for sure go for that, but, I wouldn't undersell just how gorgeous the adventurine looks. Pictures simply do not do it justice, it's got a shimmery cleam that is simply a delight on my wrist; like the two "moons" made of meteorite really are floating in the expanse of a starry sky.

I have watches from selten. My first price was the 00.13b the aventurine day date model with the lance handset and I was blown away with the quality and presentation. Second pick up was the 00.01 grey meteorite with the pontife handset. I am always blown away looking at the dials of both of my watches and every time I think of how I made the right decision doubling down on Selten! Shoutout to Leonardo for his amazing work

I love this watch... it's now on my list. I love the dial's complex texture, the hands design, the moondial, the "3D" numerals and brand (which reminds me of what Roger Smith does), the look of the movement on the back... Thanks for this review!
Whatever you may think of the overall dimensions or features, I think most will admit that this is a very cohesive design that is rather pleasing to the eye. A great effort that should have a broad appeal.
Just received the blue meteorite dial version and I’m very impressed. It is imo a beautiful and unique watch and has something a bit different. No doubt I’ll bore someone in a kitchen at the next house party with as many facts as I can remember about cooling lumps of metal in space . Thanks for raising the awareness of this Andrew.
I've been keeping Selten in the back of my mind ever since I discovered them. I think I will have to add one to my collection soon. It does fit my theme enough.
I bought a Signum model watch a couple of years ago with a blued meteorite dial. It looks absolutely stunning!🤩 They are definitely a unique acquisition to have. The Selten does look very nice.😎👍🏻

Pls consider reviewing the Italian well-made ones of Venezianico. You may see there all space effects ,whether meteorites,aventurine or even black holes..great watches at much affordable much better sellita or Soprod movements .

The latest release from Selten, the Moonphase is surreal! Thinner watch, and more aesthetically pleasing with multiple dial choices, meteorite, adventurine, guilloched mother of pearl or Musou black! Insane!
I recently acquired my 1st Zelos. I got a Mako lll run by the new Miyota 9075 true, jump hour GMT. BI DIRECTIONAL, 48 click bezel and the most gorgeous blue, meteorite dial. $629.00 USD delivered, TT&L. Got it in July_23. Fine review guys!

@@nathans9764 AHa i see that, i guess it's a color treatment that makes it darker black (like anthracite coal). God I hate trade names for all these things makes them so misleading.
I grabbed a couple of Aragons with meteorite dials, including the Divemaster 4 which has a meteorite bezel as well… they were just a few hundred dollars each and are 200m dive watches - very cool 😊

The meteorite dial really captivates me and the overall design ticks the box when it comes to wanting something distinctive yet tasteful.
I have two watches from micro brand Selten - very nice piece with sword hands, along with the Adveturine dial from micro brand Selten
Very nice "old school style" Watchfinder video. I used to loved those and they felt special when they came out a lot less frequently than these days.

I'd normally go for a watch with this kind of color and styling but something was amiss. I couldn't figure it out until you supplied the word you said this watch wasn't: contrived. This watch just heels a little bit too far over on the fashion side for me (and I own a fashion watch or two). Think of a peach Rolls instead of one overwrought in day-glow pink; it's still just a little too attention demanding. I like it but there is too big a gap between I like it, and, I'll buy it.
I really enjoy my Selten, just wish I had the grey dial over the blue one. But I really enjoy how the hour hand literally goes over the sun or moon at certain hours

The official website had 10 variations of Series 00 when I first checked after watching this video (which was about 2 hours ago.) Now it has only 4 variations left, with the others all out of stock.

My aventurine Selten is maybe the most impressive watch I own, and not nearly the most expensive. Accurate and beautiful.

I know its a thick watch, but tbh the depth that the watch dial has more than compensates for its thickness.

I have put a blue nubuck strap on it and it looks better than the straps provided
As an early bird backer i got mine for around £350
It is definitely a quality watch

These are good, but I prefer the Salvage Bronze. A very striking set of watches.
The watch looks great. If it came with a date function, I probably would buy it. I just need a date function on my watches

Looks very nice, but why on earth make a 40mm when the movement is so tiny?? The back looks ridiculous so it would have been better to close it (or make it in 38mm) imo…
I was almost sad I already have a muonionalusta dialed watch until you said 13mm. That's not too thick for some kinds of watches but it is for this kind.

Microbrands are a good place to look for meteorite dials watches. Ive got my eye on a Henry Archer one.
Andrew, Leonardo Tsai did indeed craft a masterpiece-let alone for markedly less than mad 😠 jack. 💶 Minor technical point: Apparently the meteorite was crystallizing for 9 million years out in space beforehand. Otherwise, thanks as always for your irreverent tongue-in-cheek down-to-earth 😂 treatment of the industry.

What a bargain in comparison with other premium brands meteorite dial offerings. I am sure these are sold out already.
One more thing: with the same amazing automation that produces such spectacular cases and dials, why can't an automatic in this price range be a bit more accurate? Even some of my twenty-buck-movement quartzes produce consistent -1+1/mo. rhythm. How about an automatic that can do better than 40 seconds a day ? Surely that's within technical reach.

Although considering on the recent releases, meteorite dials tend to sell last so I'm assuming there's a meteorite dial fatigue going on at the moment.

Wow, Muonionalusta Meteorite Dials have been available for far less cost than that, for years. Nice looking watch, but no need to spend that much, for budget buyers.

Theres a small chip out of the circle on the hour hand, very minor but enough to be noticeable.
