- In this video I have 2 Willys M38 engines undergoing rebuild. Lou's Engine was bored in a previous video and is now getting honed and pistons hand fit to each cylinder. Travis engine is on the SIP Hydroptic 8 being precision bored. This engine had crooked sleeves as explained in another video. I re sleeved this engine as best as possible but as you can see it took some precise boring to get each hole where it should be. A fantastic feature of boring on the SIP Jig Bore is that I can move holes a little bit. That was never possible with the Van Norman Boring Bar, that had to be centered on each bore and it would follow whatever was there. Now that I have the SIP to bore blocks I am able to move cylinders to get them back to factory specs. This block was far off from the last sleeve job. I did my best and was able to keep the center to center distances within .006".
Travis M38 engine is bored and honing has been started. Both engines are coming along and more updates will be coming on both engines. - Хобби
Really great stuff Brian! Really love the precision of the SIP you are definitely taking accuracy of engine rebuilding to another level!

Good save!!
Love seeing the engines come around
Morning
Brian, Do you happen to now the (STD) pinion depth from axle centerline on the Dana 41. I know you have the original install kit. This would be very helpful for an axle I'm working on with missing original shiming. Keep making your great videos. I enjoy them all.
Hi Brian, very interesting. How much can the bore center be out in relation to the center of the crank journal before the block is not usable?
Hola Brian.
hello Juan, you are always the first one watching. Appreciate you watching my videos
BORE NUMBER 1 OUT I 180,000 or more //AND USE A NEW CYLINDER SLEEVE or a diesel sleeve , //have a nice day
