- Mike Swigunski is a 33-year-old nomadic entrepreneur who moved to Tbilisi, Georgia from the U.S. He is able to take advantage of tax benefits from living abroad and a low cost of living that allows him to work as little or as often as he likes, and he still manages to make $275,000 a year. As a result he has traveled to 100 countries, can afford a two-story apartment, and has a private chef come six times a week to cook for him.

Why is every digital nomad’s job running a business that teaches other people to be a digital nomad?
Exactly, people selling courses earn 50 times more on those courses than on the actual thing they teach in them :) We are at the point where everyone wants to teach and no one wants to do an actual work, and that will change very soon.

How to do nothing: criticize others
If your income is in dollars or euros, then Georgia is a good place to live but if your income is in GEL, then it is terribly difficult to live here. It is much more difficult for locals to live in Georgia than for foreigners. That is why Europe and America are full of Georgian immigrants.
I think the same is true for almost every country in the world except the US and some European countries. You can travel any Asian or African country and you will be rich with your salary. But locals don’t have your salary from developed country.
This is the case for most non Western countries. A Western European or American will be rich regardless whether they move to South America, Africa, or most places in Asia.

Was looking for this comment. I hate when "digital nomads" falsely mislead people into thinking life in x country is soo much better when they aren't actual citizens of that country or make the average wage of that country's citizens. All this, while making cost of living in that country more expensive for locals by "living" there with their high foreign salary/money; and not paying the full extent of taxes the citizens do. My friends in Spain can't even afford a place to live, other than with their parents, thanks to "digital nomads" and a host of other problems.
I don't know why people are obsessed with being a nomadic entrepreneur. It feels like a pyramid scheme. To be a nomadic entrepreneur you need to teach other how to be... This is stupid and has no longevity. The only people that could follow the nomadic lifestyle are software developers and marketing people. Others need to show up. Try fixing your life and stop thinking that all problem go away once you leave far away and hide from them. Solve them, don't run.
Probably one of the rarest and most useful comment I have seen for long in youtube relating this nomadic lifestyle!
@Mr.Beant I just explained why it's not sustainable. Why do you respond with "everyone is different" like it's an argument? People can't do this. It doesn't matter if they like it and are different compared to me. It's still a scam. And I never forced anyone to do anything. Why tell me to "let people follow what they want to". I criticized how it's unlikely that they'll follow this since being a nomadic entrepreneur is not sustainable, done the way that is presented in this video.
@@μαριοςΚαπετανοπουλος yeah but, getting rich without actually providing any value to society, who wouldn't want that?

In addition to make you feel more guilty about your faults, pointing the finger at others will only serve to increase your sense of personal accountability. There's always a risk in every investment, yet people still invest and succeed. You must look outward if you wanna be successful in life.

@@alp.9672 I am a minimalist. it is not the life for everyone...i am good with it.
@@alp.9672 but the thing about Europe is you can visit different countries every weekend as they are a train ride away.
I met a handful of people from Georgia while in Estonia six weeks ago. That inspired me to put Georgia on my bucket list as a destination to visit. Plus I tried Georgian food while in Tallinn, too; how nice and delicious that was.
You know that Russia is illegally occupying Georgia.😢. Lots of Russian fleeing there too
I ate in Georgian restaurant In Tallinn as well. But live in Estonia is so much better then in Georgia - NATO.
1/3 of Georgia is devastated by Russian occupation. There is always threat of another war.
20% Georgian are below poverty level
Good for you, Mike!
Congrats, man. I'm surprised you managed to stay in shape after tons of Khinkalis and khachapuris.
Congrats from St Louis Missouri
I am living in Cali Colombia
But still head back occasional to to St louis
Let's go Blues

Great video, Mike. I'm planning my trip to Turkey and Georgia and the other Balkans.

I imagine with all the Russian refugees escaping Putlers mobilization that the cost of everything has gone up in Georgia.
Reminds me of Nomad Capitalist with Andrew Henderson
There are others who do similar who aren’t as smug and take an elitist attitude like him.
@@kevinstfort Andrew Henderson looks and acts like the guy who spent half his middle and high school career getting swirlies in the boys bathroom. He's just such a friggin' what I call "dork nerd".

Americans be like “I booked a one way trip to Europe” like it is one place 😂
making 275K $ and moving so far from family for tax cut? no thanks!
$250/week for a private chef is more than $500/month for food. What a boldfaced lie
275k USD for georgia is insane considering georgians barely make 12k a year.
This guy's footage can be found on Canva as stock footage. I thought he looked super familiar lol.
haha yeah, I have a lot of footage/photos on UnSplash (connected via Canva)! :-)

I’m looking at that place now or Portugal
Both are great, but Portugal has some NICE beaches!
Portugal has been the go-to destination for many years now, but after the pandemic, it has exploded. Now it's become very expensive as many investors have moved in and brought up prices.
@@radiatelight4100 Investors ruin everything, yea Portugal was top destination for nomads from what I recall years ago.
If you love Tbilisi so much, why not at least try to pronounce it properly?
Each and every to their own. Some are building their dreams by diving for gold in the Bering Sea out of Nome, Alaska. Others, like myself, decided to work around and include as many family members as possible. This approach has excluded wandering off to the far corners of the earth by myself; too lonely and boring.
Georgians are very respectful, with no racism. Just that not everyone understands English 😂. You can literally walk comfortably on the road with using Uber. Generally, they're nice people. If you rsside in the Gulf countries, then you don't need a visa to visit Georgia.
We're going to be neighbor soon. Thank you for this video. I'm, like most people, are tired of all daily bs in America.

Thanks for the info. You just cemented my decision to stay in Thailand.
I went to Georgia. It's a nice country and the local are very friendly. However there is health issue that many people are not aware of it. Years ago Independent scientists and doctors conducted an study on infections illness. The country has more than 1000 stray dogs in the 3 biggest cities: Tbilisi, Batumi, and Kutasi . These animals have many kind of dangerous parasitic infections. Many times the person sick doesn't have any symptom. According to the doctors the percentage of people infected is very high, making an endemic situation. Tourist need to be careful when eating out in restaurant . Since the standards of most developing countries are many times no the best to avoid infections. The independent scientists reported to the authority about the problem, but it looks like nothing was done .
wtf? Georgia is not a developing country and there are no endemic viruses from stray dogs, get your facts straight
175k is a limit of 1% small business income, u ll have to pay 18%+++ after second year with ur income
if you make 175k that is a lot in georgia
He's taking advantage. Those low prices are meant for the locals.
Yes the average income for locals is less than $5000 per year.
Sooo, the personal chef, rent, all the rideshares, utilities, eating out, etc. I'm sure he is paying his fair share by living there and is a great asset to their gdp. I'd say that the locals are benefitting from his as well and he deserves all that comes to him.
Good for you. Go where you’re treated best.
So writing a book about how to become a Digital Nomad scammer, con artist is how you make $275,000 dollars a year? So not working for a living like everyone else does, like I did and everyone who lives in Tblisi is much, much more profitable than working? So why isn't everyone making RUclips videos and selling books like this con artist? We must all be Suckers.
Person who makes 275k in year, didn't spends for travel 350$ full months.. he didn't makes more than 15k.
Why am I taking relocation advice from a 275k year earner. Not realistic. That's a wealthy person
This is why I am moving from the Jersey shore to Tulsa, OK. Too expensive. And I need a change
A lot of people are now realizing they can improve their lives, save more by relocating and working from their laptop...it's just 5-10x more valuable if you choose the right country! :)
Do you know that Tulsa, OK is located in Tornado Alley, the most prone area in the world to develop tornadoes.
@@Xx-po1fu yes I do. I also live in an area where there’s flooding and hurricanes. So everywhere has an issue lol

Thanks for the informative video Mike but let me share as a local, that living in Tbilisi can be tough if the income is in GEL only...
Yes he is living his best life while he is making the lives of locals miserable by higher rent, skyrocketing housing prices and so on. gentrification is real people. All these amenities he is enjoying he couldn’t afford it in USA
THAT PART
How is he making the lives of the locals miserable? Providing jobs, spending a lot of money at local businesses and paying his rent? He's helping the economy! He also mentions how the Georgian people are very welcoming.
Gentrification is real. It’s a definite balancing act to contribute to the economy, culture and society while not pushing out and harming those who have welcomed you in.
He is also spending money daily in shops and businesses.
@@weescotties caya from the channel slidebean mentions the effect of gentrification in costa rica by nomads. It is pushing natives out and buy kms far from their home because of the rising prices of stores
