THIS used to be played on WCBS /NEW YORK a LOT back in the 70s and ‘80s…when I asked my ex who this band was he had no idea-and he’s from London, was a kid back in ‘64, as was I, SHAME on him! 😂GREAT instrumentals!
Well, I was of same age then and knew all about them. It was no 1 in UK if you were a teenager then how could you not know that????Guess he didn't watch TV or listen to music or was a hermit. Or possibly you're no good at accents and he wasn't English.
@@onemat2000 Brian hosted a segment on Hullabaloo that was filmed in England featuring British artists. He would introduce them. You can see him on the Moody Blues performance of "Go Now"
the current line up of NRBQ has done this song, as well. iT WAS CO-WRITTTEN BY PAT PATRICK, A FOUNDING MEMBER OF THE SUN RA ARKESTRA. ...AND FATHER OF MA'S governor.
At 0:53 and at 1:57 into the recording the vocal is distorted when the sax plays loud. This makes me wonder if there was an out-of-phase mic at the recording session. I'm curious why they didn't correct this issue and do a retake of the song rather than release it as is. Other than that it's good hearing this song again.
I doubt this was recorded in stereo originally but even if it was you couldn't hear those defects in the average record player kids had back then, there are even places in Beatles tunes where McCartney sings and distorts the board his high notes were sometimes so loud. I always thought this original of this was a very good sounding recording, here it is in original mono: ruclips.net/video/jf-cCL3TOCo/видео.html
It’s very nice to see my brother playing the drums on this recording.
This takes me back to Los Angeles California and my childhood...K Earth 101....the best oldies station ever 😮
Handsome man, charismatic, haircut, tie. White shirt, black jacket, and the way he uses the camera, just love it. Great song.
This song has stayed in my head since I was a kid listening to this on WMEX in Boston with Arnie Woo Woo Ginsburgh! A true Gem!
Wow, I remember WMEX and Woo Woo! Damn, we are old!
I was 16 when this was released and it made me love jazz
I haven't heard this song in DECADES.....thanks for posting! ;-)
Just listen to that tenor sax solo and the band behind it just cookin'.
Peter Coe on tenor sax - had a great sound.
This totally swings! The most!
Bill Eyden was a great drummer and did great fills
Terminally cool.

Outstanding, roots of everything you hear today!
The chics in the audience where either Mezmerized or did not ever hear anything this cool and didn't expect it.

Tell me this shit isn't catchy and cool. I think their in a Hard Days Night at a party. What's with the zombie audience?
Hence Matt Bianco
Georgie here looks a lot like the photos of a young John Cougar Mellencamp.
Claude François l'a adapté en français " Alors salut "
Merci bien !
zomby audience:-)
They cut out the black guy
2018
I prefer the version with the African guy on bongos
He was in a shot at the very back, otherwise they kept him out of the scene. American TV 1965
BECAUSE IM BLACK?????
