BACK TO KING HERODS TOMB MY G--D THE MOVIE ROOM SHOWING THE PILERS GOING UP AND TALKING IN THE( COLOCEM.?) WAS GREAT!! WALKING AROUND OUTSIDE AND SEEING THE YOUNG SHEPARD BOY WITH HIS SHEEP WAS GREAT ,,.. THIS WAS A GOOD NIGHT TIME ISRAEL STORY TO SLEEP TO G--D BLESS.. TODAH!!!!!!
Haha The sheep at the end was sure panic stricken. Was it separated from its lamb? I had heard of Herodian, but you are the first to take me there. I have never seen white limestone before. It's beautiful. I'm so happy you are also an archaeologist. I empathize with your loss of Netzer. I lost my professor, Dr. Grace Hamilton, who lead me to love history. Thanks for another great tour, David.
Fantastic tour, David! I can't believe how much work has been done since I watched stories of the discovery of Herod's "sarcophagus." I'm stunned at how much of the site has been excavated and restored in so little time! 😲 It's sad to hear that Professor Ehud Netzer has passed away. He's the man whose interview's I was lucky enough to catch on tv that taught me about the amazing building projects of Herod. Professor Netzer was a once in a lifetime gift to historians and us regular archaeologist wannabes..... Again, thank you for yet another great tour! p.s. I loved seeing the beautiful young shepherd boy and his flock, too! That was really special 👍✌🏽
Love the view of the beautifully decorated private chamber that he built for himself and his guests t is above the theater and the gorgeous 😍 turtledove in the bathhouse, awesome tour, thanks for showing us all these interesting sites 👍🏼
I absolutely love and whole-heartedly appreciate your channel and its outstanding content. As a 56-year-old Jewish American who plans on visiting Israel next year, your videos have helped tremendously in the planning of my itinerary. Your superior knowledge and salient expertise are unmatched. Since I was a very young and inquisitive schoolboy, ancient Jewish history, classical Greek and Roman history and literature, and archaeology (especially that of the Levant) have all been insatiable passions of mine. And it remains the case now. Please keep up the phenomenal work. My only wish is that your videos were much longer, lol. Thank you, Professor David Hyman, and your wife, Mrs. Shiri, for all that you bring to us and RUclips. Shalom and my very best and warmest regards to you both from North Carolina, USA. 🤝🤝
Que fantástico poder ver el herodion en su interior y exterior un cargado de tanta historia sobre Herodes y la Israel del siglo primero mil gracias por este video corto pero muy completo me encantaría ver otros sobre Masada y la ciudad de cesarea. Saludos desde new yersey EEUU.
David, I LOVE your tours. They are short enough to keep viewers' attention yet you manage to fill them full of interesting facts. Great work! Am going to Herodion tomorrow and thank you for the refresher course :)
What a great video tour! I have been to this site but only viewed it from outside as we didn’t have time in the day to go inside. I need to come back to see this! Loved seeing the young lad catch a sheep!
Thanks for watching and for your support. I guess this hat creates many emotions. But it was a gift, and I have no connection to that college of team. Take care.
1. This is the best video I have seen about Herodion! 2. Were the workers you filmed excavating or restoring? 3. The footage of Herod’s tomb was fantastic and the first I have seen of the tomb. 4. The tunnels under the mountain were amazing and, again, first I have seen. I admire the men, women and children who used them in their wars against Rome. I had not heard about Herodion being used in the rebellions, like the more famous Masada and Cave of Letters. 5. I now know why we get along so well, both have backgrounds in archaeology. 6. Thank you for the breadth and, literal, depth of this video!
Wow Richard, my ears are on fire. Your feedback and insights are very much appreciated. The workers are restorers, they are actually students that are employed via "project 500" aimed to provide employment to those who were dismissed due to Covid. Thanks for watching and take care
Amazing David! I've read so much about King Herod and the Jewish Revolts and you taking us on this tour was delightful. I lived in Israel and never had the opportunity to visit Herod's Tomb. When I visit again in the new year, I will make this a priority. Thank you for all your great video tours in Israel.

bj stanley, prof.Emeritus, your presentation is wonderful,if possible mail me the foundingexcavator's info.,who was also your teacher.well done
Hi Joseph.
His name is the late professor Ehud Netzer
Was he Jewish or Roman by blood?
King Herod was from an Edomean family who converted to Judaism during the 1st century BCE.
Maybe Herod has visited Palestine but it is a speculation
The name Palestine was only invented 150 years after Herod dies, by Emperor Hadrian 132 CE.
He could not have since the name Palestine wasn't applied to the land for over a century after he died. Its like saying Pocahontas visited the United States of America
