- This week I'm working on the DIY kayak trailer. I'm installing the NEW 4' LED RGB Whip lights to the back of the trailer. These new lights work great for backing the trailer down the boat ramp at night and they make the trailer very easy to see at night! Recognize those brackets - the hinge assembly from a folding HF trailer. Have some around the shop somewhere too.

Where do you get those lights from? Also, the EMT you used for your bunks, what size thickness is the walls on it? Been looking and think I have been looking at the wrong stuff. $80 bucks a piece seems a bit pricy
What about if it were a jetski trailer would the wiring box handle being submerged in water ?

Cool idea but I think I would of mounted them further out with the outside of the fender so they’re easier to see in the rear view mirror backing up.
When u towing this trailer on the road, will u just leave all ur fish finder , trolling motor on the kayak or take it out?

The whip lights you have on the camping product list don’t have the 4 wires (for turn signals) did you get a different set?
Can you show how you added to the wiring ? I’ve always screwed up my wires and lost power. I’ve redone my lights twice now.
TJ, great video, except that you didn’t tell us how you wired the lights to function with the trailer taillights. Also, where can I found those? What brand are they? I need some on my tiny camper trailer. Please respond, I’m desperately needing these to help when I’m backing the camper up.

I have a dually so my little trailer really disappears. Great idea. Those brackets you used like ones I have left over from a harbor freight trailer that folds in half. Did you ever have one? I have 2 powered yaks so I really like alot of your ideas. Cool videos.

Could you have just drilled the main air compressor type connector straight into the trailer frame since only a few people on earth have the bracket you have?

Can run through the wiring for the lights ? How did you integrate them with the trailer lights?

So how did you get them to sync up with your lights? You just spliced the green to the right cable and white to left cable? Did you just use a connectorand crimp it? How are these holding up after submerging them?
I cant find your video where you created the trailer frame and welded it all together.

Would a mini mag lite flashlight holder work for holding your lights when pulled out of mount and lay to the side when loading up?

I just got done adding a set on my trailer, just as Kayak USA say the brakes go yellow/amber. I wanted to make sure this was legal. Just found out that in Oct 2015, the law in North Carolina was clarified and brake lights have to emit red light, unless it is an older vehicle and it was originally manufactured with amber brake lights. SESSION LAW 2015-31 SENATE BILL 90. This pertains to North Carolina, so not sure about other states. Nice to have but illegal to use as trailer lights, may not be worth the investment!!
