I'm really enjoying the different pace of this group of characters! I know other comments are saying there's a lack of direction, leadership, or initiative; but honestly, I love that these characters aren't exactly throwing themselves into the fray. I can see a lot of potential for them to develop throughout the campaign--Lucius breaking free of his daddy, Aila maybe finding her clan or deciding it isn't worth the hunt, Nova gaining worldly experience to complement her book smarts, Sentry learning more about the current world and her place in it, and Qill becoming less timid in the face of healing from the traumatic attack. As a story lover and editor, it's so important to me to see where a character can develop and change, rather than demand that the character be there in the first few chapters of the story. The majority of the characters are sheltered and introverted, but they're sheltered differently and it's a great and subtle contrast between them. I love love love when characters start off timid, shy, cautious, confused, or lost. There's so many ways for them to come into their own. It's only episode 2, folks! Lots to establish and explore! None of their characters are focused on being heroes! I'm confident that Katie can come into her own with this campaign too, as I think Lightfall was her first time playing DnD? She absolutely can play Aila as a no-fucks-given barbarian. Rhiannon made a great choice with a Paladin as her character, since I think this is her first campaign too. Enjoying so much so far!
To expect them to run in with the balls they had in the last campaign doesnt make sense to begin. No one is a royal, no one is an idiot cleric and no double glass cannons. They have to play differently. They have level 2 characters again. Not sure if people have played but your options are limited so they can't just charge at everything. And in terms of story, they are new adventurers. They are going to be scared of the world to begin, but once enough shit has been thrown they'll probably be more ready and competent
Dang from the descriptions alone I did *not* expect to fall in love with Lucius this quickly! i have watched all high rollers, crit role, DCA, Aq Inc, pretty much anything every posted on the D&D channel. restarting Aerois for the second time. love it crew. keep up the great work.
I have been watching since High Rollers ep1, but sadly I stopped watching at around episode 28 and I don't have the time to watch hundreds of hours to catch up. Thankfully you've started a second campaign that I can also not watch and have hundreds of hours to catch up on! Congrats on the new campaign, good luck!
Idea for after this campaign (2 years from now, granted) a low and grimdark fantasy campaign - it’d make an interesting juxtaposition by comparison to the original high fantasy vibe of Campaign 1, and the extreme fantasy vibe of the current campaign!
The segment that starts at around 1:15:00 is just wonderful. As a youngling with a big interest on worldbuilding hearing Mark explain of all his world's lore warms my heart so much to hear his wonderful ideas and also that Treasure Planet vibe it gives me... I just found out about this crew, but im already lovin this.
Another great session of High Rollers! Those negotiations with the wild elves went a lot better than I expected (I thought at least one shot would be fired directly at someone), and the amount of lore we were given this time around was fantastic. I do think that the decision to go back to the airship took a bit to long (you guys need resources- why is this up for debate?), but at least we got some decent character interactions out of it. Plus, on the subject of the characters, I'm definitely getting more into their group dynamic- the whole "fire bear" thing pretty much sold me on Lucius, and continued to prove me right about my liking on Nova. The power-core for the airship sails seems like a good point for a subplot where they make their own personal airship (if they keep it, anyway). The NPCs are proving to be likeable and competent thus far, though I have more than one question about that teen girl (it's not distrust yet, but something about her seems off to me). It's also great that the players got some resources to help them out, including a pistol, which is always useful despite any lack of proficiency (though some caution may be useful by the sounds of it). Overall, this was a great session, and I can't wait to see how they escape the wild elves, since running actually works here. P.S. Just to set the record straight, regarding the NPCs, you guys just need to remember the Rules to Adventuring: Rule #87- Always arm any characters without weapons in the event of being trapped out in the middle of nowhere so they can defend themselves, and Rule #94- Even if a civilian/fighter/priest is armed, never let them take the front lines of battle alone, if at all, due to them likely being weaker then the typical adventurer.
Oh, I almost forgot. As just a suggestion, maybe you guys should try to establish a group leader sometime soon so as to avoid long, pointless conversations on what your next moves are like in this session. As cool as it was to learn about the world, it felt like you guys were wasting time just talking about possibilities with no one really there to make any final decisions on the matters at hand. A leader helps lessen this in a D&D game from what I've seen, especially in a more sandbox world like this one. Though like I said, this is just a suggestion. I don't want to impose anything that might hurt your own enjoyment of the game.
Rating these characters as family members Aila is the oldest sibling that's not afraid to kick ass for her younger siblings and keeps them in line in a rather aggressive way, no one dares piss her off, not intensionally anyway. Nova is the middle nerd sibling that takes note of everything and uses her knowledge to her and her families advantage. Doesn't know a thing about weapons but damn can she use them. Sentry is that wholesome grandma that visits every year and watches over the younglings and tries her best to protect them. Lucius is baby and there is no other option Qillek is the pet talking bird that's forgotten sometimes until he says something, once in a while avoiding Nova once she's ran out of quills.
Hello I have started watching you 9 months ago till the beginning and I am so thrilled and happy to see you guys play. I´m looking forward to this campaign so I wish all the players the best of luck. And I want to save Trellomar. :(
Very new to dnd. Just started my second campaign with my group. This is not only entertaining but also very informative to ideas for role play and interesting characters for the future! You guys are awesome!
I love the fact Mark is the dungeon master because he really helped me with making my first character and his ability to make a story that fast is incredible. I and my, not very much into dnd, sister are trying to make a campaign but i still don't know how to lay one out or how to even start. I really with Mark could read this and make a video on his main account showing me, and i presume many other, how to get started in making a dnd campaign.
only just come across this video & massively new to D&D. BUT MY GOD - the effort in this story & characters is soo good & entertaining. The way the dungeon master explains & elaborates on the storyis amazing
My predictions are that quill will die first trying to something cool but being squishy support or sentry dying first trying to protect everyone playing a typical tank from other games
I swear to Ciasca (is that how you spell it), Aerois should be made into a TV show and all of the amazing Fan-Art just makes me believe that even more!! :D I absolutely love imagination and creativity that Mark, It makes him able to create brilliant fantasy worlds and the others have the incredible ability to be able to bring it to life and help the audience visualize this RPG adventure to the fullest. Keep up the good work!!! :D
God dammit! Mark said five separate times that the wolves backed off, and all I could think about was "BACK OFF! I'm boss!" from that old wolf game Simon and Lewis played.
I am soooooo in love with thus campaign the rp is so good. Hope some of you are going to i63! I have booked tickets just to see you guys and the other yogs.
the box set up is a little disorientating. Having players look off into nothingness is sort of breaking the 180 degree rule. It was nicer with the set up of last season. Love your stuff really just wanted to flag something :)
Yeah the other view allowed you to see what was going on better and the interactions between players and/or DM with eachother. Hopefully they settle on the view or it just grows on people and still works.
The way there're sitting is fine but before they had the players at the bottom and Mark with the map up top. They could even just flip Katie and Toms cam just so theyre looking towards Mark. I work in TV so it just nags at my OCD haha
Xi0rcaled I think Katie’s character will end up being the closest thing to a leader but in reality campaign ones closest thing to a leader was cam and that went (fine?)
Peter Osborne I can see Tom being a good leader. (Not saying that the other choices are bad). But I like his tone and the way he plays the timid Aarakocra
They very much need someone; I've watched since the start, and have noticed they can quickly forget when they are standing around arguing in a dangerous area. Still love Highrollers though.
High Rollers never really had a leader in any of their campaigns. Katie tends to be the voice of reason, Tom the one who walks ahead, Trott the one who mixes things up and Kim the one who just tags along and sometimes makes things dramatic. In this campaign, everyone except Trott pretty much just switched their roles around.
just binged all of the ten days vids and the first two sessions, i'm so excited, especially with everyone playing such different characters. Lucius cant fight but the rp makes up for it haha. have fun and roll high guys!
Ladies and gentlemen, you never ever ever ever give an unconscious person food or water. It can cause them to asperate leading to coughing, choking, vomiting pnuemonia, and even death.
Literally just started out watching this...still got a long way to go. Time to binge watch lul. Love this campaign and the players. Keep on doin what ya love
I’m wondering why the airship was flying over the Bitter Wood in the first place if it was heading to Goldthrone... if it crashed to the north it would mean it was coming from the south, but there aren’t any settlements in southern Suvona...
sometimes, the best thing one can do on the internet is learn when not to speak. she's kinda cute, I guess, in a similar vein to how the blonde maid in Downton abbey is cute.
I can't wait to see them in less survival situations so they can establish there dynamic and characters a bit more. People are complaining about the drag but that's probably just because they are low level and don't want to die straight away.
Tuned in after seeing you on Rollplay: Far Verona. More a critical role feel here but you are a killer DM! Unfortunate you're sick I feel like Jason Argus will get to see some mech combat next week!

I just found this channel and recently started playing D&D, this is so entertaining and I'm learning a lot from them!
Mark: ...and you look over... *screen goes dark*
Rating these characters as family members
Aila is the oldest sibling that's not afraid to kick ass for her younger siblings and keeps them in line in a rather aggressive way, no one dares piss her off, not intensionally anyway.
Nova is the middle nerd sibling that takes note of everything and uses her knowledge to her and her families advantage. Doesn't know a thing about weapons but damn can she use them.
Sentry is that wholesome grandma that visits every year and watches over the younglings and tries her best to protect them.
Lucius is baby and there is no other option
Qillek is the pet talking bird that's forgotten sometimes until he says something, once in a while avoiding Nova once she's ran out of quills.
i love how mark just immediately shut down tom's attempt to meta-game for a sec there
Hello I have started watching you 9 months ago till the beginning and I am so thrilled and happy to see you guys play.
Is it bad that i'm only watching this now, and may have gotten emotional at the fan art?
Me too!
2:29:37 points at rapier
Child: that's a lightweight blade, right?
Me: hahahahahahahahahahahNO
Lighter than a BYHANDER
@@confucius5640 Yeah as far as blades go a rapier IS a lightweight blade! I mean if it isn't then what the heck is?!
@@JacksonOwex as a dm I usually treat it as a light blade
You all missed the stream daddy bets. bets on how many times Trott would say Daddy somebody won with 10 daddys.
When I got twitch I tried to go back to see the chat.....there was no chat so I’m rewatching again
Gods I love the music used in the fan art segments! Loved it ever since hearing it in the Lightfall campaign! It’s so relaxing and calming
Lucius is my favorite!
i started watching in 2020 and finished watching in 2021, thisll be a better year
When the cameras turned black I literally thought my phone shut down lol
Exactly my reaction xD
Daddy!! Daddy wasn't there, to take me to the fair, to help my friend with a broken leg.
Can’t wait to see more of these characters they’re awesome all 5 of them ❤️
that spell should be in DnD spell book "Fire Bear" :P
My predictions are that quill will die first trying to something cool but being squishy support or sentry dying first trying to protect everyone playing a typical tank from other games
Mark's new campaign is Borderlands 3, I love this so much!
Coming back to this beautiful safe place after that last Critical Role episode.
Yes nothing but fun times trying to find luggage. Love you Trott.
Quillek is my favorite character in this campaign so far, really cool character concept
Nova and Sentry/ their players seem so enthusiastic to just play their characters
Mark really showing off that achievement hunter love
Clearly Entertainment i agree
Clearly Entertainment they are also disoriented we are sharing in their experience of being lost. IMMERSION.
Yeah the other view allowed you to see what was going on better and the interactions between players and/or DM with eachother. Hopefully they settle on the view or it just grows on people and still works.
It does seem they're emulating more the CR setup. It is, however, much easier to play when seated this way, especially with this many players.
The way there're sitting is fine but before they had the players at the bottom and Mark with the map up top. They could even just flip Katie and Toms cam just so theyre looking towards Mark. I work in TV so it just nags at my OCD haha
With the open world structure it seems the groups seriously lacks a leader/decisionist. Though the indecisiveness did give ample time to add in lore.
Xi0rcaled I think Katie’s character will end up being the closest thing to a leader but in reality campaign ones closest thing to a leader was cam and that went (fine?)
england is not a city Katie's not very decisive tho (not a problem) tom or maybe Rhiannon might fill the role
Loving the new campaign! So fun to watch all my favorite people playing D&D!
Love the fan art, and the music!
just binged all of the ten days vids and the first two sessions, i'm so excited, especially with everyone playing such different characters. Lucius cant fight but the rp makes up for it haha. have fun and roll high guys!
those are some fabulous pajamas, man I love fan art
Ladies and gentlemen, you never ever ever ever give an unconscious person food or water. It can cause them to asperate leading to coughing, choking, vomiting pnuemonia, and even death.
I'm late to the party as usual. Got some bingeing to do.
Same
I'll start watching Critical Role when they start a new campaign but I'm a Yognaut at heart and must watch this.
just got started after catching up with critical role, wish me luck
Literally just started out watching this...still got a long way to go. Time to binge watch lul. Love this campaign and the players. Keep on doin what ya love
Loving this series. It's got a fun cast of characters.
The artwork is one of my favourite parts, people are so creative, then there is me. I can barley draw a stick figure.
Callus came down with his court of shadows? Dude had been playing a lot of Destiny when he made this world 😁
I’m wondering why the airship was flying over the Bitter Wood in the first place if it was heading to Goldthrone... if it crashed to the north it would mean it was coming from the south, but there aren’t any settlements in southern Suvona...
You're assuming it just went straight down. ;) They realised the ship was descending but it didn't crash right away.
The sky cities move around the world

Two episodes in....still wondering why Elora hasnt used wildshape. Lol.
Rhiannon is so pretty!
Pretty isn't a strong enough word
sometimes, the best thing one can do on the internet is learn when not to speak.
she's kinda cute, I guess, in a similar vein to how the blonde maid in Downton abbey is cute.
Derploop I think you need to learn from your own advice and learn when not to speak XD
Marf4711
I appreciate your attempt but just remember, you can't fix stupid. Not even with duct tape.
Derploop should prob learn when to take your own advice.
You come off less creepy and arrogant that way
"she's half way though her life. She's a human, right?"
Lmao
59:06 The " Oh fantastic" sounded So great I laughed so hard i couldnt breathe
I can't wait to see them in less survival situations so they can establish there dynamic and characters a bit more. People are complaining about the drag but that's probably just because they are low level and don't want to die straight away.
I'm so ready!
Tuned in after seeing you on Rollplay: Far Verona. More a critical role feel here but you are a killer DM! Unfortunate you're sick I feel like Jason Argus will get to see some mech combat next week!
People with two knives are always happy.
Just have to say it... "Ignore the bird! Follow the river!"
Love the story, you guys are super intertaining. Rihanon is so cute 😬 id say must protect but obviously shes the one doing the protecc.
Haven't watched it yet but no doubt its another banger keep up the good work :)
Edit: It was great!!!
honestly i was waiting for kim to say LevioSAH
But its Levi OH sah. Not Levio SAH.
This was 3 years ago? I'm defo re-watching this and actually finishing it this time 😅
Don't mind this, just a personal timestamp for when I come back to finish this episode 33:43
