he is still the boss. focus on the essence and perfect controll of what he does. Hearing his creating of sounds and textures and everything whith the necessary time, that is a master class. No more comment.
More of subtlety and sensitivity than is usually the case in this great virtuoso showpiece. Kent Nagarno and Pletnev great combination here. Some say Pletnev can be an icy perfectionist - not the case here, he is delicate and stylish.
oh, indeed one more comment (I wrote the other before hearing the encore): I had to fight against the tears while hearing the lark, ...and I lost. On the one side it is so rare to hear something so beautifull, on the other side the whole melancholy of the poem text is there transformed to piano sound, it is so difficult not to get emotional when hearing this. One of the best examples of russian piano mastery of all times.

Beautiful. Seemingly effortless by both the pianist and the orchestra. I would like to hear more from this newly formed orchestra.
