Fun little trivia about Feel good hit of the summer. The band got kicked out from a concert at a rehab because Josh that it would be funny to open the concert with feel good hit...
Got the album banned from Walmart,
To which Josh said, "the album is fucking called 'Rated R'"
Who the fuck invites the stoner rock band to play at a rehab?
@@garbz1414 the risk they took was calculated. But man, were they bad at math....
@@ThatGuyNikolas True dat
better living through chemistry is one of the best rock songs of all time.
Ben Miller I was sitting here at the end of 'Auto Pilot' like "Please don't pause in the middle of the transition!".
"I loved the riff but it went on for way too long"
I Think I Lost my Headache is definitely gonna be an experience for you
Also can't wait for you to get to In The Fade, my favourite song they've ever recorded
It certainly will be. I love how long it is at like 8 minutes and then those trumpets, holy shit, they're good.
In The Fade is immense. Like untouchably brilliant.
If you dont like repetitve evil riffs high and low vocal pitch changes and weird chord progressions mixed with blues then qotsa isnt for you
but the vocal melody is amazing...like a laser beam from outer space
In The Fade is incredible. My favorite song from them not on Like Clockwork.
You should really do Era Vulgaris! It’ll shatter what you think of as predictable QOTSA.
There most underrated album!
One of my favourites
Why does nobody like Lullabies to Paralyze? :(
@@manuelvanegas7867 cause it sucks
@@shanedecatur9206 I wouldn't take your opinion. Everybody knows you're insane.
@nightwalk, Remember the laughing at A Song for the Deaf? thats Feel good hit XD
Deaner on Mosquito Song too,
Them Crooked Vultures?
Oh BOY you're going to like I think I lost my Headache
You’re really super productive these days, I really appreciate your work but I feel like you’re getting a little burnt out, aren’t you ? Are you maybe getting tired of making reactions over and over (just speculating here) ? If so, please have a little break, you’re doing so much for us, I feel like we could give you something as well : recognition and, as I said, the possibility to take a break :) anyway I might be wrong (by Radiohead, hah) but I just wanted to let you know that we really appreciate everything you’re doing and we would totally understand it and respect you if you did need some time off ;)
SMaO LC I hate myself for chuckling at the Radiohead pun
Yeah, Better Living Through Chemistry is fucking amazing
You should try reacting to The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails, a bit more noisey but amazing
Christian Møller yaaaaasss
Yes, please.
Christian Møller dooooood
Fragile!
I think I can get used to grumpy Nightwalk.
React to a moon shaped pool!
PlanetTelex88 it’s gonna be too mellow for him, but it’s a masterpiece so I think he should. I think he should hear the bends maybe first
I agree. I think he should probably just listen to the rest of Radiohead's stuff chronologically. Part of the enjoyment is seeing how they evolve from album to album. I never understand people requesting to jump straight to albums skipping over others!
Can confirm Monsters in the Parasol is awesome live
Is This It by The Strokes!
Bad: end of reaction
@@UncannyXander bad??
My favorite Queens album just edging out Era Vulgaris.
I can see you like their experimental side. I appreciate that.
YES DO PART 2 ALREADY.
also dude, the whole point is to get into the repetition. that's QOTSA. but i wouldn't expect someone to be able to get into their songs in that way the first time they hear them (i certainly didn't haha).
React to Lateralus by Tool, hope you're into spirals and meditation
Everything Everything - Get To Heaven - imma keep hittin you with this boi
seconded, this would be amazing
The download spiral, nine inch nails please!!
good one!
The variety on this album is remarkable, but also easily explained by the sheer number of musicians playing on it. Every track has different people playing different instruments. It's essentially what Josh did with his Desert Sessions albums (which I miss terribly, he really needs to round up a few of his musician buddies and start making those again) but under the Queens brand. Good stuff anyway. And if you've never listened to any of the Desert Sessions... worth a look.
I knew you would continue with Queens, never doubted you
"Okay, this is epic"
You need to react to Lullabies To Paralyze from QOTSA :D Era Vulgaris is good too!
Would love to see you do a reaction to The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails next, it's quite the experience listening to the whole thing.
Legend says they performed the first song at a gig in a rehab clinic, and got kicked out in the middle of the performance...
Leg of lamb is the anti pop song a million verses and one chorus. Which adds to the whole theme of the album of what they can get away with.
For that reason alone i love this anti-matter pop song really takes talent and a bunch of drungs to make this record these songs
Give Amnesiac by Radiohead and The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails a look!
Nick Oliveri is bass on this album and vocals on Auto Pilot
and Quick And To The Pointless and Tension Head when he gets to them.
It's mark lanegan lead nick on the chorus
"Oh I get it, it's about hitting different drugs"
I've known this song for so long and never realize that
That singer is Mark Lanegan. He does a lot of his own music and it's great. You'd like it a lot. Check out 100 days
better living through chemistry is insane live ! One of my favorite
Everything Everything- Get to Heaven. A modern classic
Older queens has a lot songs that are “repetitive” but I personally enjoy the way they do it.
I'd like to see you do the new Daughters album, You Won't Get What You Want. It's been getting rave reviews and it's my favorite album of the year. It's such a creepy, atmospheric album and I love it
Marshall this would be quite entertaining lol but idk if he would like it tbh
React to The Holy Bible by Manic street preachers
Oh shit I think I lost my headache is really gonna fuck him up
Better Living Through Chemistry is definitely a favourite!
For me their albums are ...Like Clockwork>Songs for the Deaf>Rated R But they're very close!
For a new band, try Elbow - The Seldom Seen Kid, especially if you enjoy A Moon Shaped Pool. They're 2 albums that are built around similar techniques and instruments, but come out with very different end products
Asleep in the Back after SSK maybe
Oh, hell yeah. Thought you’d given up on queens! Don’t!
Hey buddy, really glad that helped ya feel better.
Just gotta do my usual asking you to review Twin Fantasy (2018) and Teens of Denial by Car Seat Headrest. Hope you're all good now.
I'm pretty sure you will love Mark Lanegan. Please react to Screaming Trees or his solo career
Blues Funeral is so good
I love how they got branded stoner rock with the first album and then opened rated r with feel good hit 😅. Looking forward to part 2
The Smashing Pumpkins' Siamese Dream next please.
Terry Silvester yes!!!
Would love to see you react to Them Crooked Vultures. It's one of my favourite albums by Homme
Yesss I'm obsessed by the changeup in spinning in daffodils
Hope you feel better soon man
Downward spiral nin
If you're a big sucker for good bass and amazing guitar skills, I highly recommend "Welcome to sky valley" or "...And the circus leaves town" by Kyuss, both albums are masterpieces of the Stoner Metal/Rock genre and also, a good taste of how good Josh Homme's is.
Please react to Ghost - Meliora
I wish I could listen to Better Living Through Chemistry for the first time again!
Yo, listen to Virtue by The Voidz! It’s like simulation theory, if simulation theory was good.
Linkinbird617 they’re not really that similar, but great album
My fav album of 2018 tbh
Dont be a snob. Repetitive in your opinion is just song structure to them. Great React though!, Keep truckin bud! Love the content.
Next reaction.... REFUSED - The Shape Of Punk To Come
React to Puzzle by Biffy Clyro
Also, Please Please PLEASE don't skip on the live version of "You Can't Quit Me, Baby" from Reading in 2000. It's on the Deluxe edition of the album and MY GOD it is a small gift from god...
Smashing Pumpkins - Gish or Nickelback - The Long Road
Sando nickelback??? C’mom, you can do better than that!
Kyuss is the start of it all
Yeah, imagine hearing it in 2001.
If you dont like repetitve evil riffs high and low vocal pitch changes and weird chord progressions mixed with blues then qotsa isnt for you
I think he just doesn't like the repitition, the rest he seems to be okay with
If you like the multiple singers that feature on different songs that match their voice, you should check out Mastodon. They have 3 singers and none of them are really the singular lead of the band.
Can you pleaaase to a reaction to a Twin Atlantic or Biffy Clyro album!! (message me if you want tips)
Yes! Better Living Through Chemistry is just amazing but then so is Autopilot - love the lead guitar in that. The only thing that tops them is In The Fade 😁
I love your comments on the songs, but man, where'd you been all this time as a guitarrist without hearing QOTSA? haha
Please react to The Downward Spiral by NIN!
You should try "Let Love In" from Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
Nice, Part 2 is gonna open with my favorite QOTSA-song!
the Desert Sessions' rendition of Monsters in the Parasol is pretty good if you want to check it out; it has roughly the same groove as the qotsa one, but has more emphasis upon the "creepy vocals" that you mentioned.
The Black Keys (El Camino), Cage The Elephant
Turn On the Bright Lights by Interpol please!
On the 2nd song you said that they were formulaic, and then on the 4th you praise the great variety and distinction between the songs
Listen to infinity by qotsa
Do era vulgaris it is such a creative album and if you understand the context behind it, it becomes a lot better
A live version of Better Living Through Chemistry that I really love is the one on Rated R's deluxe version, live in Reading 2000! The guitar(s) solo(s) and the drums blow me away each time
Marilyn Hazan If you can find it, there's a version from a televised festival in Rio from around it's release that was epic for how wrecked the band seemed to be, and features a native drum ensemble, but still manages to be a great performance
better living through chemistry is one of my favourite songs
Most people who review qotsa take everything so seriously. These guys are just having fun and people review their music like it's a book.
Please react to Lullabies to Paralyze or their first Album (Queens of the Stone Age)
My dude, you do realize this came out before SFTD, right?
where's part 2?
This album sounds even better when you’re feeling shitty imo
Nothing but thieves pt 2
You should react to their self title album
They did that to see if they could get it played on the radio. Not advocating it.
Auto Pilot was Mark Lanegan. He also did Hanging Tree, the (almost) title track and A song for the dead on Songs for the Deaf
Marco Cardoni Nick Oliveri did do auto pilot, Mark did sing it live tho
Oh yeah 😂 I hear that now! The more you know!
React to Amnesiac!!! Damn it!!!
Start to finish solid
Much like the first album
You should react to biffy clyro
Don't get too used to Nick Oliveri, the singer on
6 shooter
Millionaire
Quick and to the Pointless
Tension Head
and bass player,
I think he sang Gonna Leave You too
Shocking reaction to Leg of Lamb…
I think you should go pre QOTSA and react to kyuss, josh Hommes band before. Which stoner rock at it's best and they even had an album called, wait for it...... Queens of the stone age
@2:10 there's been various explanations for this song but basically yeah, at least at the time they were massively into drugs. Some gigs that era they play like twice as fast, think Josh pretty much cleaned up after a near death experience of some kind. I know for a fact that First it Giveth is about when a drug experience inspires you but you can't remember the idea.... Anyways do Self Titled album already!
For Radiohead, listen to The bends, and king of limbs live. Save A Moon Shaped Pool for a depressed day
I know this series of reaction to QOTSA was made kinda long ago, but since I didn't really see anyone say it, I feel like I need to: Queens of the Stone Age is a lot about repetition. Josh likes the broken, repetitive sound and that's an inherent quality of the band. They're not metal, or progressive, or anything; they're Queens of the Stone Age.
(3:40), which also means that when they do subvert expectations on something like millionaire (hearing that for the first time blew my mind when the guitars kicked in), kaliscopia, or even make it wit chu coming from left field. If you have really talented musicians with a unique style who can make really really good predictable songs, then when those same musicians subvert expectations it’s mind blowing. That element of predictability also lets me find some strange sort of comfort in qotsa too
If you are into rock that can be as twisted, intricated and cool as occasionally beautiful, and if you enjoyed QOTSA and Nirvana, I think Soundgarden will be for you. Try Superunknown.
After you've listened to the album, you really should take a look at this: ruclips.net/video/MHwGfzTSJdo/видео.html
Gives the story behind all of the songs(it may very well make you enjoy some of them even more), and you will also learn (if you havent't already) that Josh can often be fucking hilarious.
Also check out them crooked vultures. It’s one of josh’s side projects,. It’s him, Dave Grohl, and John Paul Jones. Phenomenal album
I would love to see you react to Opeth (preferably the Still Life, Blackwater Park, or Ghost Reveries Albums, Still Life is my personal favorite)
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you do. I'm here to see you react to Queens of the Stone Age, my favourite band of all time. fucking godspeed, my friend
Hi, could you please do era vulgaris? Its my avsolute favotite of their albums. Thanks :) love these videos.
Nick sings on Autopilot and Quick and to the Pointless, and Mark Lanegan sings on In The Fade (my favourite track lmao)
How do you not know QOTSA?
pls pls pls do debut album and era vulgaris
