That was the simplest explanation on how to set up the kreg jig I have watched. It was like having a friend explain it. Not too technical, but very well-stated. Great job and thanks! I can finally use my k4!
Agreed, thanks so much! The DVD that came with was all about the application of it which is great but I couldn't find anything on the included DVD of the product of how to actually use it. Thanks for making this!
I just printed out the Kreg instructions (many pages) and then found your video: it was concise and easy to understand. Never used the printout and started building my table today. Thanks for the video!
I just learned something, I didn't set up the drill bit properly for 3/4 ". I glossed over the set up guide that was in the box. All this time I was drilling in too far because I didn't measure the drill bit for 3/4" right. Thanks for explaing this. You just earned another subscriber!
One of the best explanations about Kreg Jig set up . No one else mention good enough about adjusting the drill bit setup. This is perfect. Thanks for sharing.
That was wonderful i bought one and I couldn't understand the video from kreg I ended with holes in the jig because I didn't know how to set up the bit. I like how you show in close-up the bit and where to place it. Great job
THANK YOU FOR EXPLAINING IT REALLY CLEARLY. I AM A VERY NEWBIE ON THESE GADGETS AND I WATCHED A TON BUT DIDN'T REALLY EXPLAIN WHERE TO LOOK ABOUT THE GAUGE. THANK YOU.
Thanks for the video bro, I’ve had a kreg jig for a while and haven’t used it because I didn’t know how to set it up. Thanks to you now I’m ready to tackle some projects.
Great video buddy. I just bought the K4 today at Menard's, as I've been using the cheap single hole jig for quite a while. I appreciate seeing the setup! New subscriber.
Hey. Just discovered your channel when looking to understand the best way to use my Kreg pocket hole joiner. Although, in Oz we have moved to the the metric system, (like any modern society), I found it great!! Checked out a couple of your videos and really like your style. Keep it up. Hope you get to a level where manufacturers send you product. Cheers mate.
s showed me very basic set up, from an excellent teacher. because really when you've never done something before a person who is going to be instructive on each step is very helpful. so many woodworkers out there assume you know so much. I got hung up on how to make the collar fit over the drill bit. the little collar ring needed loosening just a tiny bit. than you ill be subscribing. mk
Great video. My branding agency just got our first client that wanted to get some custom retail furniture. Up to this point I’ve only been a hobbyist this is me transitioning to offering custom furniture to my existing and new clients. Thanks for the great video.
Don't remember where I heard it, but I was told insert the drill bit into the jig. Lift it up and place a coin under the point then drop the drill bit down until the tip hits the coin. Tighten the stop collar on the drill bit, lift and remove the coin. The drill now will not protrude too far. Easier to do than using the marks on the jig.
For a 2x4 it doesn’t make a large difference since the board is thicker. So they make the setting the same. I have used it for 2x4’s and it works good.
I have used several times and love it but have a question. Lets say you are using different stock sizes lets say screwing a 2x4 frame into a 3/4 top. What do set it at for either, pocket hole in the 2x4 and pocket hole in the 3/4. I assume whatever size is being clamped
Yes. Whatever size would your clamping into this device is what you would want to send it to. What’s important is not to use a very long screw that would poke through your three-quarter inch top
I recently bought the kreg jig and I think im getting close to understanding how it works, lol sorry it takes me awhile, but I am working with some 1/2 inch material now and I set it up just like you said, it looks good but it only has about 1/4 inch or 5/16 of wood to hold it together, im just using pine and I am worried about splitting it out being so close to the end of the board, or maybe I should use a different setting to bring the hole back so I could possibly have 3/4 of an inch maybe, any suggestions? Thanks in advance. Im no professional woodworker but I would like to learn as much as I can to do small projects around the house.
On the back of the screw box’s , kreg has included a chart to see which screw length you need. I have found that the screw you need is always about 1/4” less than the thickness of two of the boards your jointing. For example, 3/4” boards I use 1 1/4”.
I have searched and have not been able to find an answer to this question If I am working with two different thicknesses of wood for example drilling holes in a 3/4”but attaching it to 1/2”. What depth should i set it for and when choosing length of screw what would I use?
@@BOCraftsman Thank you, so always set the depth and use the screw for the piece we are attaching to, not necessarily the wood in the jig. You are literally the first person who has been able to answer that for me. Much appreciated.
I was looking to purchase the Kreg Pocket hole jig . But you said it only goes up to a inch and a half . that means a 2x4 will be too large for the Jig?
+avalonbear61 Riley a 2x4 is the maximum you can go with this jig. I used it when I made my bench in the Tiny workshop remodel series . 2x4 are actually 1 1/2 x 3 1/2 so it works.
I hope no one went out and bought a different jig for drilling thicker wood, just take out the drill block clamp it where you need to drill no reason to buy another jig mine even came with a 0.5 inch spacer that clips on to the drill block for 2 inch material. Other spacers can be ordered from Kreg.

B&O Craftsman you’re welcome, I’m just getting into woodworking so I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos. 👍🏼
thanks! better than the Kreg video
Great tutorial 👍
Thank you. Very helpful!
Just bought this and I liked your video. Question, is the drill setting the same for 1 1/4” and 1 1/2”? See only the one line in between the two
Drilling pocket hole into a 2x4
For a 2x4 it doesn’t make a large difference since the board is thicker. So they make the setting the same. I have used it for 2x4’s and it works good.
Quick and to the point, the way video's should be

You could use the 1/2” but put some glue with it too. 3/4 “ is definitely better if you can use it. I would try to use 3/4” if you can.
Great video! I wish you also explained how to use it on a mitered edge.
Great idea. Do you mean like on an inside corner?
Super helpful!! Thank you!
Good vid man. Subscribed earned
Thank you so much!
Thanks for the video. Do have, or have you made an L-Shaped desk?
Thanks! I never had actually .
Thank you. This was great!! I subscribed.
This was helpful. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
What about the different fasteners, how do i know which ones to use ?

Depth for the 1/2”
@@BOCraftsman Thank you, so always set the depth and use the screw for the piece we are attaching to, not necessarily the wood in the jig. You are literally the first person who has been able to answer that for me. Much appreciated.
Is the wood thickness 3/4” that you are talking about ???
Yes. The screw shouldn’t be longer than twice the thickness of your material. Otherwise it would protrude out beyond the workpiece
What about a pilot hole in the adjoining piece to avoid splitting. Especially being so close to the edge.
i don't have a bench table handy so it's required or is there another alternative to clamp down that jig?
It’s not required but it makes it easier . You can do it without a clamp but it will move around
Great video! Short and sweet, but contains everything you need to know =)
Good stuff Chris. I love my Kreg jig
Thanks brother!
Thanks, helps me a lot
Great vid!! Thanks
Thank you
Very professional instruction; thank you.
+Jess Rogers thank you!
So if I’m using a 1 1/4 “ screw. I set and pull the plate up to 1 1/4. Right???
That is for the thickness of the board.
If the board is 3/4 , wath size the scrws?
! Gracias por la explicación, un abrazo !
Very useful thnks
Thx for info
Kreg should make these in metric markings to, not every body uses old school imperial ,though it’s a very good jig
Good job. Thanks
Your welcome! Thank you
Thanks
I cannot loosen the clamp pad. Please advice. I have attempted to turn the pad, but it simply won't move. Please advise.
The threads on the screw may be messed up or the set screw may be tight
My k4 came with a spacer which I Installed but don't really know why. Can someone tell me, please & thank you.
I want to buy this. I live in Mexico City, is posible in Amazon? What can I do?
It should be possible
Love that damn jig
Cm se llama la máquina que estas usando cm ejemplo gracias
Subbed
How do you know how deep to go?
You go all the way till the stopper hits the top of the hole.
good info Chris.
Does anyone have a hard time bringing the hole part up and down? I’ve had 2 and it’s almost impossible to move up and down.
You have to remove the sliver screw entirely and use some force. It’s pretty tight
A NOTW brother...
I hope no one went out and bought a different jig for drilling thicker wood, just take out the drill block clamp it where you need to drill no reason to buy another jig mine even came with a 0.5 inch spacer that clips on to the drill block for 2 inch material. Other spacers can be ordered from Kreg.
Mn
this is overpriced
It felt very incomplete. Sorry
