Uncle Knackers coming through with the goods again! Was primed to buy my first pocket hole jig, this video came out, I watched it and excitedly bought one. First screw I did, I just blasted through the corner and sent it into the other piece of wood, came back and watched again with the torque setting and pulse, some beautiful and solid pocket joints, cheers knackers!
Cheers Troy! Glad you got that sorted mate and all the best with the jig 👍😁🇦🇺

As always, Uncle Knackers this video was filled with excellent tips. I the look of that jig hanging on the wall. (and thanks for the cool Dad Joke) I stopped the video and shared it with a few lucky friends!
Hahahahaha....thanks PT! Glad you liked it mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Even though I consider myself pretty adept at using pocket hole joinery, I never miss one of your videos. They are nice little handy refresher courses for me to view. Heck you could make a video on how to use Silly Putty properly and I would probably watch it. Great video as always. Thanks!
BTW I have that same jig and a few others, and that Massca Pocket Hole Jig is a real tank. Well built, and should last a lifetime.
Cheers Gregg! Appreciate the feedback mate and you're right.....the Massca is an awesome Pocket Hole Jig.....built to last for sure 👍😁🇦🇺
Having recently found your channel, I have to say your videos are brilliant and very informative for a woodworking beginner like me. Looking forward to making your wall mounted table. Keep the videos coming and thanks. The jokes aren't that bad 🤣
😂....Cheers Paul! Good luck with the bench mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Brilliant video for us beginners Shane - subscribed immediately after hearing the bad dad joke! Just starting using pocket holes and this tells me everything I need to know in simple layman's terms. Thanks
No worries mate and welcome aboard! I hope you can stick around for many more videos to come. Cheers 👍😁🇦🇺
Great vid mate, always a good mix of straight up information and a bit of humour that doesn't ramble on, top job 👍🏻.
My favourite dad joke. When I was on the Titanic the problems all started when the gaffer said "hey mate, fill up the swimming pool would ya!". On the plus side the swimming pool is still full.... I'll get me coat 😉🤣🤣🤣
😂😂...Touche mate 👍 Thanks for the feedback and for watching! Much appreciated 👍🇦🇺😁
Thanks for your video, Cheers
No worries mate 👍Thanks for taking the time to watch 👍😁🇦🇺
@@diyforknuckleheads Yes I've had the pocket hole experience but you do have some good tips for beginners!!
also top marks for the dad joke, I hope every episode has one
😂😂....Thanks Stephanie....yep they all have one 👍😁🇦🇺
That's a great angle to drive home some pocketable information. I'll be sure to join it to my existing holey book. 🤣🤣
😂....Thanks mate
Thanks mate! Great video much appreciated. I’m a new bloke to all this Pocket Hole stuff.
Gollum asked “What’s in my pocketsss?” Know I can say , “A Pocket screw!” A Hobbit joke…. 😮
🤣.....No worries mate....glad you found the vid useful 👍🇦🇺😁
Video aside, it's great to see you on the Tube again. Goes without saying, love the video. Haven't seen that brand of jig before though .... I have the Kreg 720. Good jig, but I think the K5 was a better one. Should have kept it. Cheers and hope to see you in October, mate. 👍🍺🍺
You'll see me there for sure mate 👍 The jig is from Massca....it's a seriously good jig....highly recommended! Thanks for watching mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Good points. Might want to also cover using the correct LENGTH screws for appropriate thickness of board. The types of screws available are more than you showed. The screw (on the right) that you showed which was the course thread, also comes in fine threads with the same type head. Just a thought. Keep on truckin!
👍😁....Cheers Mitch 👍 Yeah there was a lot more stuff that l could have added but you only have limited time to keep people engaged. Thanks for the feedback 👍😁🇦🇺
Great tips. I didn't know about the threads. Worth mentioning too is to use screws that are flat under the head and not tapered. When I bought my first very simple Wolfcraft Undercover Jig they included sample screws that were all tapered which is ridiculous. If you tighten the screw to har the wood will crack. I had looked at videos similar to this one and knew not to use them but it is insulting really. I wrote to wolfcraft complaining about it but never even got an answer.
Yeah that's ridiculous Mat.....not sure why they would have done that 🤔 Thanks for watching mate 👍😁🇦🇺
THANKS TO YOU I WAS ABLE TO MAKE A POOL TABLE FOR MY OFFICE USE
Awesome! Hope it went ok mate 👍😁🇦🇺

Great tips as always Shane. The only thing I'd add is that if you are someone like me, who started out using the cheaper, portable / mobile pocket hole jigs, then the face clamp is not just useful, IT'S A MUST. Mobile pocket hole jigs are notorious for moving unless well clamped when drilling and the face clamp jig makes light work of this. Strongly recommended for those using mobile jigs.
Yep good point Anthony 👍👍 Thanks for watching mate 👍😁🇦🇺
I mounted the jig on a small piece of 3/4” plywood with screws and now I clamp or screw the plywood down.
Yes! After I learned to offset the joint a bit to account for the movement from rotation from the pieces, I now realize how ridiculous it all was. Oh well!
Nice one Shane, i need to get one of those face clamps, i reckon they could come in handy for loads of jobs.
Yeah Mark, l highly recommend them mate...very handy 👍😁🇦🇺
Glad to see you brother!!! Cheers from the other side of the pond!!!
G'day Frank! Good to hear from you mate and thanks for watching 👍😁🇦🇺

i thought this mite have been click bait there Uncle Knackers, im thinkin pocket holes?! shit im always getting them from screwdrivers, etc. point down and then i lose all my fortune thru them, i was hopin for a remedy that was cheap, effective and scalable.. LOLOL , good as always UK.
Hahahhaha.....thanks mate 👍
😂 I still love ❤️ the Dad jokes. 😅
😂😂.....Thanks Henry! Glad you liked it mate 👍😁🇦🇺
Rofl!!! Beginner! I get it. Clever indeed
😂....Thanks mate 👍
Kracker video knacker -Ive always been leery of these jigs
Cheers Tony! 👍😁
Just found your 10yr old video on drywall anchors, your vid was one of the first to come up... Just wanted to give you an FYI
Thanks for that Martin 👍👍 Yep 10 years on and still being watched 😂
I've just purchased a pocket whole jig and I'll get them clamps never used them before so see how it goes I'm laughing at ur jokes more now as I didn't register the first time of listening.. good on ya m8 good to watch u. I've watched some others but can see u got experence
👍😁.....Cheers mate! Glad you found the vid useful and good luck with the jig 👍👍
Nice to see yu back again Shane, your feeling well?
All good thanks mate 👍😁🇦🇺
@@diyforknuckleheads ideal glad everything is ok👍👍
@@AG-cc1mg Cheers mate 👍
the video is good but is missing a very important part, all the poket hole jigs have a hight ajustment and i do not know exsatly when to ajust the hight, i was hoping that Uncle Nick explain that in this video.
This was soooo useful, thank you. Do you know of any screws that work other than Kreg? They are hard to find, and I need some fine thread and it's a special order at bunnings, wonder whether you use any alternatives or know of any? Thanks so much for your content, it's gold!
miles craft also sells pocket holes.
I've had a pocket hole jig sitting in my closet for 3 years unable and I'm a big chicken when it comes to am I doing it right. Well chicken no more after this video I feel confident that I can now use my pocket hole jig. Great joke gave me a laugh for the morning 😂
Thanks for that Nancy 👍😁 Glad you found the vid useful and good luck with the jig 👍😁🇦🇺
For those who really want to avoid the joint creep and want a stronger pocket-hole joint - and have the budget. . . Consider the Castle pocket-hole cutters. The Castle 110 is the least expensive (but not at all cheap) and will give you a 3-degree angle rather than the more typical 15-degree - and that is a good thing.
Great tips. I’ll definitely be getting some clamps and using your drilling techniques. Thanks.
What do you think about gluing the joints?
Cheers mate and yes.....glue is a great idea 👍😁🇦🇺
I’ve watched a number of videos but no one talks about joining 2x4 into 3/4” plywood or maybe 1x4 into 1/2” plywood. Videos only seem to talk about joining same thickness materials.
How do you determine how to alter installations based on the second material thickness?
I found only one mention somewhere on Kreg's instructions or videos suggesting to use an electric drill to drill the pocket holes because it rotated at 2500 RPM. Most cordless drill run at about 1600 to 1800 RPM. I always use the electric drill for pocket holes or dowel holes. Try it, you'll be amazed.
👍
Onya knackers
Cheers Craig! Thanks for watching mate 😁🇦🇺👍
Great stuff Knackers! I'm only a DIY'er and didn't even know that pocket hole joinery was a thing!
How would you fill the pocket hole after screwing? ... Just using wood filler?
Cheers mate 👍 You can actually buy pocket hole specific plugs if you ever need to fill the hole 👍👍
@@diyforknuckleheads What a genius system! Thanks.
One extra clamp doesn't make a second pair of hands just a third hand, or if you're a pirate and miss one hand it makes a pair. This is almost dadjokery 😂😂😂
😂…Very true mate👍
Nice information .very helpful. Thanks
The dad joke made me hit “Subscribe” 😂 thanks Mate
Keep’n coming
Cheers mate! Glad you liked it 😂
how do i know what size screw to use and can i use different types of screws other than Kreg for instance
When attaching 1/2” plywood to 1/2” plywood why can’t I completely get the pocket screw head below the wood surface?
Ahhh the good old pocket hole jig 😊
Just bought one of your t-shirts Shane, you should mention them in your videos, I didn’t realise you had them.
Do you have any plans for caps?
Yes mate....another pocket hole video 😂 Thanks for buying some merch too.....much appreciated!! I really want to sell caps but for some reason l can't get them 🤔
Great video Shane. Honestly I didn't realize what the different screw threads were all about. Those 90 degree kreg clamps are amazing for holding the wood together for pocket screws aren't they?
Cheers Michael! Yeah mate, those clamps are a game changer 👍😁🇦🇺
