Seeing Matthew Peech over here is like seeing a favorite character actor from a small TV show land a gig in the MCU! Well done, Matthew! And, good job spotting his talent, Kreg! He's a great teacher with a ton of enthusiasm. Love watching his builds.
Thanks Bender! Most don't know but I started this whole online teaching journey by giving tips on how to use the K4. I've been using Kreg tools for many moons! Lol. So of course I was honored when asked to be a guest teacher! Thank you for all of your kind words!
Matthew is one of my favorite wood workers. He has a great gift for teaching and a passion for woodworking! Great Kreg products paired with a great teacher!
I have been fascinated by Kreg pocket hole makers for years. I bought asignlr hole jig years ago from a late-night TV commercial and an R3 a few years ago. I recently bought a Kreg 720 pro. I watched several videos including Kreg videos and had a few questions that remained unanswered. Everyone seemed to use the same size and type of wood for making connections. No one stressed the wood you are going into is the key to screw type, depth and length. YOU answer every single question. I have been dying to try these things for years. Thank you.
We're so glad this video helped answer your questions! For future reference, we have a new Screw Selector tool that will help you determine screw size for your projects if you're ever unsure: www.kregtool.com/screw-selector
this is one of the better pocket hole videos I have seen in a ling time... very informative and helpful to any beginner and someone that likes to watch a well made refresher .. thank you
This was the BEST demonstration of pocket hole joinery I have watchged. Matthew is so clear in his explanation and makes it so easy to understand. I have subscribed to him as he is excellent in what he does and also a good guy.
This is the best, most thorough, video on Kreg equipment I have ever seen. Kreg makes the tools look easy, this explanation makes actually working with the jig easy. There is a difference! Thank you! I will subscribe to see what else I didn't know I needed to know!
I saw Matthew's picture and knew I had to watch this video.I bought the M2 but I used it twice and I am setting it aside for the Kreg I also have that spot where my collet was set wrong nice to see that i'm not alone
Ive been intimidated by the kreg displays for years. Im an amateur wood worker that knows the luxury of what this tool can do but never knew which jig to buy. Thanks to this intuitive video it just took all my worries away. Ill definitely be buying a pro model in the near future.
Excellent video! Even though I have used pocket hole joinery for a while, you explained it completely and it was a pleasure listening to the expression in your voice. Thank you!
This is about the third video that I have seen on the Kreg tool and out of all that I have seen I learned the most and found it very informative. Thank you
As a relative newcomer to the pocket hole world, and watching a few other videos on pocket hole joinery, I have found this to be the best one yet. I own a K5, which was all that I could afford at the time and it has served me very well. Since I have access to several drills, I have decided that I am going to purchase a couple more drill bits and collars and have them set at the various depths and never change them, that way I can't make a mistake and forget to set the collar properly. I thoroughly enjoy your method of getting the point across. Straight to the point with no frills. I've been binge watching your videos from the beginning and I'm learning quite a lot. I can make projects and set them up on my front lawn, as I live on the main access street into my small town in Alberta. Keep up the great work.
Very informative video. I have been intimidated about pocket hole joinery because of my lack of knowledge about it, this gives me the confidence to give it a try.
@@KregToolCompany I'm new with pocket hole jig. I haven't had or even bought one. My question to you is do you have a discount or something to help or give to a new customer?
Those "Mistake" holes sure do look factory made.... :-) Great education, thank you so much for your dedication in bringing content that benefits multitudes!!!
Great tutorial on the Kreg products. I first purchased their pocket hole jig over 15 years ago and it is still working great and I'm working on a cabinet project so I just purchased their drawer guide jig. They are a great company
Outstanding video! Nice to see Matthew here. I've learned enough from him and you guys to be making some cool stuff now. Thank you! Just ordered a couple track horses this morning.
Love my Kreg tools got my Kreg pocket hole jig long ago. Looks like I may need to update to a newer version. I personally believe Kreg choose the prefect person to make this video. I follow Matthew on RUclips and enjoy all his builds. My project shop was destroyed by 2 different hurricanes, so I been storing all my tools in back of my 2A shop until recently. I just built a temporary workshop because my 12 yr old daughter has recently asked to learn how to word work. Her and my 14 yr old nephew help me put this shop together in 2 days and moved my tools in. So Matthew is fixing to make a few coins off my with his etsy shop. Thanks for making this video.
You taught me a lot right now and answered all the questions I had. Thank you. You are the 1st person that got me interested in diy projects. Thank you
Appreciate the informative video. Question: when I am using 1/2” material, the screw head protrudes, it becomes a little proud of the piece. Is there a solution for this? A web search shows this to be a problem and I haven’t found an answer.
I'm about to dive into making a TV stand, I thought about solid construction, but now I think Pocket Joints are the way to go. Making it have no visible screws, and appearing finished is what I'm looking for. Great video, especially since I myself can be classified as a beginner. Thank you sir :)
Very well done and helped me a lot. I bet your other videos will be just as good so I subscribed. I keep drilling too deep on my Kreg Forman. Thank you
Peach!!!! Always great videos from him. I have never done any pocket holes and am interested in starting. Which jig should I get to start? 520 at orange box store comes with a bunch of screws for starting. It doesn't look like 720 does. Thanks for any advice.
Fabulous video! Simple, (idiot proof😂) great choice on Having Matthew do this. I do not use my 720 a lot I forget sometimes what to do....this video will be played a lot!
One of the best explanation video's i've seen! Thanks Matthew! I just purchased the 520 kit for my DIY studio desk made out of Acacia wood. I am building a 2nd tier for my monitor and speakers. When using two different thicknesses of wood you said to use the screw for the thickest but do you set your jig to drill for the thickest piece of wood?

Thanks so much I was just taking a break from cabinet making and one question how can I get the collar to stay locked on the drill bit? I’m not getting it tight enough. Should I just permanently affix it to bit and buy separate ones? Thanks for tips!
Make sure you are getting the set screw tight on the stop collar and use a standard drill. These are not rated for an impact driver so if you are using that, switch to a standard cordless drill. If you continue to have problems, our support team is happy to help troubleshoot: kregtool.com/help
I have the older model and it has a small problem and I'll bet the new design has the same. The drill tip does not protrude the piece. Now matter how well I clamp the pieces the screw causes the piece to mis-align. Of course if the drill bit did protrude it would drill into the jig. I suggest Kreg make a drill a little longer and make a slot to accommodate the longer drill tip. My work around is to take a 3" 8d finish nail and push it in so that it protrudes the piece. I then remove the waste I pushed out with the nail. I get a perfectly aligned joint every time.
Your joint can shift slightly out of place during assembly as your screw enters the mating piece and we suggest clamping the joint as you drive in the screw to prevent this. If your hole isn't fully drilled, you may also need to slightly adjust the stop collar on your drill bit.
