I really enjoyed hearing this with transcription - it really sends me back to my family's basement in high school, sitting, bewildered, trying to make head or tail of some of these time signature changes. A fun fact about Gavin Greenaway is that his father was a prolific songwriter and wrote "Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress," among many others
8:09 I love this part, not just because it was in the commercials for Epcot during the Millennium Celebration, but also because it's not often we get to hear music played in 7/8.
It is incredible! The fact that the prompt Gavin G was given was "we want meters other than 4/4 just some variety" and GG came back with an entire score that not only used these odd meters... no he implemented it so well- it wouldn't even occour to people it was this complex. If you like 7/8 check out Emilie-Claire Barlow's "Sunshine Superman"
I've been air-conducting this so wrongly for so long. So much easier to do with the score. Funny how that works. Such a great piece regardless of how I've been conducting it in my kitchen, car, etc.
How is your arrangement going? I'm not great at music, but a few more months and I think I'll be able to play this piece on a piano from start to finish
Hopefully you're not dead but here is the score vincentrubinetti.com/sheets/reflections-of-earth/ Someone already uploaded a video of that score synchronized with the piece so you can follow along. I like the video better since the pdf takes up storage and the video is more readily available. ruclips.net/video/J1chzbzFtQ0/видео.html

Ironic that I never cared for this show, but ADORED the soundtrack from the first listen! Incredible music!

I will love you forever for this.
seconded! The only other version I found was this lame marching band arrangement

@@DigitalAndInnovation Yes, it's impressive Score
It's my favourite part too! So cleverly written - AMAZING piece of music!
Holy key and time changes
Thank you for putting together my favorite childhood piece. Brings back so many memories. Please never delete it
This is such an awesome score. HUGE fan of Epcot. And I’ll definitely miss it when it end its run this year.
I know. I can't believe it's going away. I grew up with this show.
Prostreet I totally agree.
@@daltonrose3330 don’t you worry. Disney has officially released its new Epcot Forever show.

Such a great piece regardless of how I've been conducting it in my kitchen, car, etc.
I also love to air conduct this piece. How do you conduct the 7/8 section? 4 then 3 or other way around?
can relate, i got footage of ~3-year-old me just totally bombing all the hits. it's still as fun to air conduct now being 21
When I air conduct it, I just dream of having musicians that can actually play it!
Such an amazing composition. The mixed meter, the movement of the brass and strings driving the piece along, it's phenomenal.
Thanks has served as a perfect base for starting my arrangement
How is your arrangement going?

I'm also trying to arrange this for piano. I'm only about 40 seconds in at the moment but I'll finish it someday haha.
Wow. That was an awesome piece.
Great digitization of the handwritten score.
I would have loved to play snare or timpani on this in band or orchestra :)
Realy beautiful !
Hi there. Does anyone know where I can get my hands of the original handwritten score? Thanks

Shouldn’t a majority of this be in 12/8 and not 4/4?
I have the handwritten score to this and it is actually notated in 4/4 with triplets
@@knights8400 Where can I get a copy of the handwritten? Can it be found online?
Joey's Travel Reviews I can send it to you
@@knights8400 oh thanks
@@knights8400 Can I please have it too. I'll owe you big time.
