We are not misinformed, technically we consider shias as Muslims, but you have lot of beliefs that take a person out of the fold of Islam, a lot of you insult the companions, especially Abu Bakr and Umar , a lot of shias even insult the wives of the Prophet without any shame ,some of you believe that part of the Quran has been lost . The most radical are the Iraqis, Iranians and the Lebanese shia ,and the moderate ones are the zaydis but even the zaydis are getting radicalised.

I think the problem is that most Sunnis don't know much about Shia, other than politics (Iran, Hezbollah etc). I'm Sunni and i don't really know much about them and their theology. It's hard to get a neutral view because many people have their own agendas. The few Shia i have met they seem pretty normal. Another issue is that most Shia live in Iran and that's a problem in that whatever Iran does it reflects on Shia on the whole, a bit similar to Israel and Judaism, Ironically.
Those shia who hurt themselves and beat themselves with whip are mainly just the extremists. Most Shia do no such a thing. Another thing i admire about Shia is that they don't like outside influences control them. Eg Iran, they kicked out the Shah and don't let their country be ruled by puppets. Sunni world is in chaos.
I gotta agree with you. Most Sunnis know nothing about Shia and claim to be right about everything. What pisses me off is when the Sunnis claim Shiites are not Muslims becoz they curse the companions of the prophet. Every time i asl my friends to back up this ridiculous claim with evidence from Quran or Hadith, they simply run away! I am neither Sunni nor Shiites, but most of my friends are Sunnis and when it comes to religion, they are really illiterate.

I think it's because there's a lot of politics involved. Many politicians and mullahs use the divide for their own agendas. I live in a predominantly sunni community, most if not all muslims i know have zero clue what shia believe. But I've never encountered any sheikh or mullah that says they're evil or non muslim etc either.

They're terribly uneducated about Shia, especially that overly talkative chick who had no idea what she was talking about. To be fair though, the interpreter got a few lines translated wrong.
I'm pretty much an Ex-Shia in that I no longer care for religious leaders or believe in many of the teachings found in Shiite sources. I happen to agree with some points from Sunni Islam other points from Shia Islam, and often with neither of them!
But I can assure you that the supposed Shia hate on Sunnis or considering them to be non-Muslims is a myth! Shia, like Sunnis, have their theological problems and odd practices which you can rightfully question and criticize, but they're generally some of the friendliest and most forbearing people around. I know that for a fact because I lived among Shia, I haven't heard a single Shia badmouthing Sunnis unless it's told as a lighthearted joke. The opposition is reserved towards extremist Sunnis like aggressive Wahabis/Salafis who by no means represent the general Sunni society.
The Sunnis who claim that Shia hate them are just looking for some excuse to hate Shia without sounding like aggressors.

Well, I thankfully no longer care much about the titles and assumptions of the countless ignorant people. But while it's true that I'm not a Muslim now, I certainly was at the time I wrote this. Our beleifs and convictions can evolve or change over time.
I still greatly respect Islam, prophet Mohammed, and identify as a Muslim culturally. Otherwise I'm an agnostic aware of the expansiveness and mysteries of the universe as well as the limited ability of my mind.

Sunnis never underestimate any sahabas and they are actually very dear to them. Especially Ali, if you read any part of the prophet's story you would know how close Ali was to Muhammad. I’m actually so shocked that some Sunni scholars have actually brain washed the Sunnis. They say shias believe imam Ali a.s should’ve been the prophet. They say we curse the wives of the prophet. My advice to all my Sunni brothers, please don’t believe what they say. Research it urself look from both perspective and then judge. Some of them look from their own perspective and then come to judge.
I’m a shiite and I’ve had a lot of Palestinian friends (in the west) and they don’t have such misconceptions about Shiites. Sunnis in the Middle East are indoctrinated to believe a bunch of misconceptions about Shiites so I’m not surprised to see this. Honestly I wouldn’t even judge them for this. They don’t exactly get to grow up with information, everything is so dictated by their government. Whatever the government wants the people to believe, they’ll make them believe that. I’m sure that had they met Shiites they wouldn’t be this judgmental. But when you live in a sheltered and strictly controlled society you’ll end up really judgmental towards other people. It’s sad but this is the reality of growing up in most parts of the Middle East.
