Forestry mulcher does cost more than equivalent time with the bulldozer, but as you mentioned, the bull dozer is not hauling away the stuff it knocks over, or removing stumps. The mulcher leaves the cleared space empty and ready to use, nothing to haul, cut or burn, and no stumps. If you can find a way to do even one days worth of forestry mulching, just to clear space for your shed to house, I promise it is worth it. It is a game changer because its does so much so fast, and there's no follow up activity needed before you can use the space. They can eat through those piles of trees, too. I know they're scheduled out a bit, but its only a few weeks, and you can still work on other prep until then, including using chain saw/etc to down larger trees before they come, and then they can chew them up on the ground. Even if you can only do a portion that way, it will get you ahead by a lot, and save you so much time and labor. Sending you all the good vibes for a quick and successful site prep!

Over the summer you can order tree seedlings, dogwood, redbud, persimmon, etc to fill in under the taller trees from the forestry services. Here in Georgia, for 50 they are $1.10 apiece. 🙂 🌳

Mulch, 1 days worth, put ribbons on trees you want saved. Do the perimeter and across the front as deep as you can go in 1 day, couple hours for a few paths to interesting areas in the woods. Then do a day each year or so. Mulcher is much easier to clean up than after a cat, but, you have to watch for suckers. Pieces to pick up are much smaller with mulcher to pile on small burn piles. No big dirt/slash piles. Chainsaw will grow a lot of suckers. Stumps really need sprayed to stop that....James

Just clear what you can, when you can and pile it up front. You or someone else will want some firewood by Christmas. I know it is exciting but force yourself to pace it out. I remember when you had over done it once before and crashed and burned. I'd hate for that to happen to you again. Everyday is a new day and full of friends that will help you. Your Blessed with many. I am so happy you are nearer to many young people who have become like family to you. Carry on.

I know this is over a year old but, we have had no problem with taking down trees well over 6” the amount of hand labor or mess to deal with after a dozer is well worth the production amount a mulcher on a skid can do. The amount of land that is clearable in a day is very dependent on what your clearing, piles usually take an extra skid and a lot more time when it’s already on the ground vs. standing brush. It’s expensive no matter how you look at it maybe. Usually it ends up being more going the cheapest route

Maybe consider using the forestry mulcher for clearing one days worth of land/work so you can put up chicken pens in that area faster. And use the bulldozer to clear your home site since you need bigger trees removed for that.
That way you can get moved sooner at less cost and not so much mess from the bulldozer to clean up afterwards which you'll have to pay to get it all done & hauled away. And where the chickens go the ground will not be bare dirt/mud and the chickens can eat the greenery to help lower food budget which pays back towards the more expensive mulcher.
Then when your house sells you can use some of that money to clear more land. I understand from the companies I have checked into while making payments you can only clear up to 1/10th of the land for your home site but until land is paid in full you cannot clear anymore trees than that. Maybe check your contract to see if your land company has the same restrictions. Good luck Jeff!

You'll choose the best thing. I was wondering...How much does it cost to BUY a forestry mulcher? Surely, with the community y'all have just in that area, you could all pay into buying one & then pass it around as needed with a, "You break it, you pay to fix it," clause in the group contract, with everyone paying monthly toward the purchase, if thats necessary. And, that way, you could ALL learn to use it & be available for earning income with it for outside community. Just a thought.

That’s not a bad price, we just paid $3500.00 to trim 2 big pine trees in our backyard! Took them from 6:30am to about 4:00pm to get both trees trimmed and clean up all the branches and needles! They were excellent! The yard looked better than when they started!

I sure hope my letting your 1000 videos run in the background for 3 days (not much RAM & slow computer) helps your U-Tube income next month. In between projects on the other tab I went over and liked the ones I could. For the perimeter fence will you bulldoze any of the property line to make it easier for the permanent fencing you will eventually get?

Possibly to save money clear for driveway and power together. But then I guess you would need to call electric to find out where they would want to come through. And don’t forget to place the home where you can get as much winter sun as possible .

You can rent a wood chipper. Typically it would be a pull behind style. Home depot has one and so does United rental.

Hey Bobblehead, I’ve got a forestry mulcher booked for June and they’re $1500 a day for a 10 hour day. Email me if you would like their contact info. I don’t think you’re too far from us. Take care.

Maybe you can get some of your homestead buddies to come out there with their chainsaws n bulldozer man can come do some too. No matter how I'm positive it'll all get done in His timing. Look what He's done for you so far n making your dream come true.(turned tragedy into triumph)(that's a great t-shirt for you.,....He turned my tragedy into triumph.(on front)..then put homestead name on the back of tshirt Remember to take care of your health tho in all this. Blessings♥️🙏

Couldn’t you get a bunch of the framily together and knock it out? I’d be willing to help and I don’t even know you, but I watch all of y’all just a suggestion as I’m watching this.
