My cousin makes them with beautiful yellow and orange Flor de calabaza (squash flower). I find myself staring at it, not wanting to bite it, looks like art! We learn a lot from our elders, even the city slickers, Mexican Americans, know how to eat cactus. My Tata (grampa), always told us, if you get lost in the wilderness, follow the animals from a safe distance, they will lead you to water and etable vegetation. Very unlikely in the middle of L.A California, but you never know, good info!
