If your just starting out, go for the comptia A+. Comptia A+ covers windows, mac, linux, and the fundamentals of information technology. With this certification, you can get a job in desktop support, technical support, IT support, and some mid level jobs will require it. Also the A+ opens up to different things to learn so based on that, you can figured out what's the best career path. If you already have some experience, the best thing to do is skip the A+ and jump over to CCNA or Microsoft.
Yeah buddy!
And they use the money spent on that cert to lobby against right to repair. Don't waste your money.
Comptia A+
Comptia A+
Also linux or cloud certifications as well.
Just passed the 902, am now A+ certified. This channel gave me a ton of motivation along the way (I failed the 902 twice)
wwefroogy good job glad to hear you kept pushing
I failed mine first time as well but got it. I took my network plus.and I knew I passed it. Than my security plus I was like I failed this stuff but passed. Now I just renewed my security plus for the first time
Can i get tips?
@@williamknight6227 may you please guide me?
Hey, how's it going did you get a job in I.T.
Short Answer: CCNA
Long Answer: A+ to start in IT, but still CCNA for overall growth
J Q thanks deff gonna go for A+ this year
GrantR same I’m taking 901 soon
This saved me a lot of time thank you. Your channel is one the reasons why I making a career change to IT.
Hey man, just want to express my appreciation and gratitude for your videos! Very well laid out, concise, and informative! 10/10
Thank you. I am beginning the process of career shift to IT and you are helping to break things down. Much appreciated.
I'm saying depends on your goals. If you are a very beginner, A+ is the one. If you are working in IT, then Network+, Security+, and then something else based on your goals. Everyone needs the A+ and Network+ skills.
Dana, The Tech Teacher absolutely!
For the win.
Can I just skip both the A+ and Network+ and jump straight into security(really enjoyed it in school)? Money is really important aspect in my life, not because of materialism but paying some major bills. I have my associates in Computer Network but I'm definitely in it for the money. Help anyone?
@@oTRANSCENDENCEo Same question
This was a great video and really encouraged me to keep studying. The A+ studying has definitely made me a much more well rounded user of the technology so I couldn’t agree more.
im halfway though comptia A+. came here to get motivated to finish it , found what i needed :D
Thank you so much for the video. This is exactly the information I was looking for to help me decide which route for courses I will be taking in school. I have no experience in the IT field and am taking Network and System administration courses for a certificate. The next courses available take you into Cisco or Microsoft. Thank you for the info on what is best for entry level!
Thank you!! This is the exact info I was looking for. Much appreciated.
Subscribed!
Great analysis. I already have the CompTIA trifecta. Studying for my CCNA right now.
Excellent video! Outstanding advice for folks. Loved my A+ experience, hitting the network+ studies now and it’s incredibly detailed work but rewarding. Keep up the great channel!
Thank you very much and good luck to you on the NET+!
where are you at now? what was your first job?
Non vendor specific certs are the way to go if you are new to the field. Solid advice.. 👍
This is the best ANSWER I HAVE EVER HEARD..
THANKS SO MUCH.
NEEDED THIS! thanks!
Thank you for this video. I appreciate your wealth of knowledge!
Thank you for this information as I am currently looking to recruit for help desk and I can appreciate why a company would want someone to have the Comp Certification.
dude you like the IT guardian angel😭😭🙏
Dude, I can totally rock that!
I'm happy that I can help!

I.T. Career Questions 👋🏻 hello!!
I really love how motivated you’re and trying to help people out there, that’s why I subscribed to your channel 🙏🏼🤣
Now I have a question, I don’t know if you know about programming, but I’m debating which field I go, Networking or programming? Would you be able to compare them in which one would be harder to master?
Thanks for your great job!
Thank you guy. You made it easy for me to start my career
I dropped out of college, not knowing what I wanted to do with my life. I wanted to do something hands on and gets the job done while knowing fundamentally and doing well with something. I realized that I enjoy customer services with computer and want to go beyond customer services, which is the backend system. I am excited to get my CompTIA A+ certification, very motivated to study as I see communities like the IT!
How is it going? Where did you take your courses?
Hey Jimmy, seems like my lift story is same as yours. I didn't get any certifications, however, I did have good working knowledge of back-end systems and databases and was able to get my first job in IT without any degree or certificates.
I'm still figuring out what more I could do.
Did you get the certificate? Did you land any job with the certificate?
This answered my question. Thank you
Thank u for sharing ur thoughts much appreciated..! I was really confused ..!
You just made my life easier as I was too worried which one to go for first. Now, I know Comptia's A+ is for me as I am just a student with no IT experience at all.
Same. Been wracking my brain for 2 days. I'm ready to get started on the tech journey
Thanks a lot. You gave me clear direction.
I really enjoyed the video infact it's really inspired me and I wish to watch more from you
Hi. I’m pretty new at IT and always had an interest. I never knew which certification is best to take for entry level. Thanks for the info
Thanks for the insight it was really helpful.
Great video ad always full of pertinent information! How you done any videos on F5 VS Comptia?
This was helpful! Thank you!
Thank you for the video content.
thank you for giving information about best IT entry level.
I'm going to be going to a Community College to get an Associate's degree that prepares me to sit for the CCNA, and while in the program I'll be taking courses that prepare me to sit for the A+, Sec+, and Net+ certifications, so I'll be getting the best of both worlds.
so how did it go. what was your first job? helpdesk?
@@JT-oc2dn you wrong 😂
Thanks a lot for your advise

I love you for watching my channel, this means you are greater!

Good stuff as always!
Thank you!
you are a lifesaver. you deserve 5 stars!!!!!
Thanks for the great info 👍
No problem!
Thanks for this video. I was studying CCNA first because a friend of mine told me it was great entry level. I’m about to start on the A+ because I’m only 9 hours into a CCNA course and am having a real hard time progressing. I’ll focus on the A+ and come back to CCNA.
You can get your a+ now and after your ccna. A+ is good for entry level positions only. You can also use network+ as a help study guide while getting your ccna.
@@maroon9273 what's the pay for an entry level position with comptia A+ certs ?
I'm about to enroll in a CCNA course, but I'm full of doubt because I'm not into networking and I'm more interested on hardware part, thanks for your explanation and i already decided what to pursue. ♥
I like this guy...straight and to the point....
Thank you so much.
I will be going with the CompTIA A+ certification, thank you!
Hey u live in India?
Got CCNA certification 5 years ago. Wanted to change career and I thought it will open doors for an entry level IT job. Did not happen. Thinking to get the A+ and give it another try.
Thank you Maroon, for great advise.
Glad it was helpful! 😅
Thank you sur👌
Thank you for this video I cannot figure out for the longest time what certifications are needed to become a field technician
Depends on the type of technician, for those that break-fix, laptops, printers, I'd suggest the A+ and if it's a network field technician I'd go with A+ and Network+
i got A+ & Network+ & now i'm about to get the security+
Security is the way to go. Companies hare having real hard time finding security experts, or even those that have some experience. Just talked to a guy who does security and that's pretty much what he told me. Learn Perl.
@@itsnotallrainbowsandunicor1505 will i know some Perl & ruby & some of python i learned that on linux :)
my problem is my location i live in the mid-south (memphis,TN area) and the IT industry here not hot... every time i apply for job i get IT technician level I or II and most of the time just repair tech positions :/
i love cyber security & networking i'm trying to move to some where else ? what's your advice to me?
@@salnaggar Well, I am in the Massachusetts area. You can also try indeed.com and sign up on linkedin and peruse the IT, IT security groups. I know the major big cities are in need. You can also try government jobs for the meantime. May not be super exciting, but it's the experience you want in order to move up. BTW, the gentleman I talked to, he did 1 year in electrical engineering and then switched to something else and I think he dropped out. He got a job in help desk, got bored, told the company he was going to move on and they countered with 'hey, we need security people. We'll send you down to DC and (some other place I forgot) for three weeks of intensive training." He is supposed to send me a document of how to get in security and what books and material I need.
How has that worked for you?
I also got both a and n doing my cloud plus cv002. 25th of jan hopefully to pass and then also s plus
this helped alot thank you
I have a telecommunication diploma and want to venture more into IT
and i think compTIA can help me more
Cisco got certification called IT Essentials. It's pretty much the same as A+. Studying for IT Essentials was enough for me to pass A+ cert.
Glad I saw this video. Super confused and which route (no pun intended) I wanted to take.
I guess I'll go with CCNA. If i was new I would rather do internship or Entry level job to get A+ Certificate like or close experience. I am back on YT friend. Have a happy new year
Happy new year! Welcome back!
CCNA 2020 covers wide range other than networking concepts. If you can do a video about 2020 version it would be good.
Very informative video what are your thoughts on getting both certifications just so you have a wider range of options
I’m a Software Engineer trying to switch over to IT.
My plan: A+, Network+, Security+, CCNA, Microsoft Azure Administration
I was advised in my university group that the CompTIA A+ is the best since I'm a beginner coming into IT looking for a career change...
Studying A+ Now..I like your content brother thanks
No problem! Thank you and good luck!
Me too, I’m not one who grew up messing with this stuff. Lol I want to put my head through a wall at the moment.
just passed CompTIA SECURITY+ exam yesterday and expand the validation of my old A+ and NETWORK+ for 3 years.
Thanks Man
I am in the process of doing a career change and have no experience or degree in Computer Science. I intend to go for the Comptia A+ Certification.
I already got my A+ so I'm studying for my CCNA next.
Jonathan Magpantay Lubag, Jr. nice man!
Nice 👍 how hard was the Linux section on the test?
@@asloan1938 I took the 801 and 802 so I didn't have that in the exam, I think.
@@asloan1938 Not that hard. You might need to name the OS, tools, and some commands then it will be fine.
Learn Linux. Thank me in a couple years.
Your background be your own superhero inspired me .
A+ started from there as desktop tech, breakfix later, I landed identity management and later information security analyst for banks.. I reverted back into desktop role as a lead full time, with my knowledge I know how to create accounts disable accounts modify accounts as a system admin... I know the knowledge of programming switches as well, in my days I just don't have the certificate for CCNA but I know the process.. Computer A+ there's a lot of knowledge there to take you anywhere in IT..
Thank you sir..
You are right definitely right..... I got a A.S degree to leverage my knowledge I choose CCNA because I am already in the field but if u just start A+ is the best one..... but if someone want you still could do CCNA but u will have a lot to learn because you will be lacking of the basic knowledge of IT.
Thank you
thank you sir
Jobs searches for A+ includes other things besides Certification. Such as "service" or "quality"
Thanks
Thanks you for the video! I am just getting into IT. I am taking a class at my local Jr College, it's a A+ prep class. I'm kinda of nervous since it's been about 20 years since I have been in school but going for it anyway. Is there anything i should do prior to school starting to get me ready? I've been watching Professor Messor's videos.
You got this!!!
Man your a great reference. I havent checked yet but I wonder what you think about the Google IT course?
Run cmd goodnight,, i enjoy the video,,, first all happy new year to you and yours 2 questions ,1) i want to do software ,, which comptia certification does give software developing or software engineering? I really want to do with comptia 2) i live in the european caribbean im dutch and french,, how i can do comptia online,, are they a comptia online for foreigners ? I will truly appreciate your answers on these 2 questions
My local area isn't even looking for IT cert for entry-level IT jobs. They are looking for BS in Computer Science/Engineer and 2+ years of experience. LOL
Thank you.
You're welcome!
I am a plumber, but I don't want to do this anymore, I have always been interested in Cyber Security but never pursed it. I am looking about for courses to learn. I'm glad I watched this video now because I feel more confident about going through the ComTIA quals now; gunner do: A+, Security+ and Network+ or CCNA. I know nothing about these qualifications whatsoever, but time to start learning. I am going to watch so me videos on RUclips to get a bit more knowledge. Hopefully this Coronavirus f##ks off soon! Stay Safe all!
Hey man any progress on your road to cybersecurity? I too don’t want to be in my job I’m currently in and have also always had an interest in CS.
The best entry level cert is the A+. Fundamentals are always best to know. Then you can get your network + and security. Then if you like networking then get your CCNA.
Can you please compare Google IT certification with A+ and CCNA?
Just get A+, Net+,Sec+
I do not know. When I tried indeed. CompTIA and/or A+ had 2 results in my city and country - Czech. But CCNA had 30.
I got my A+ a few months ago, but I already worked part time in the IT department at my local college, so it didn't really change anything. I'm working on getting my CCNA this year which I hope will help me get a job in networking.
Awesome, good luck!
Would I be able to get a entry level job with a next tattoo in the IT field? Also how do you feel about the google IT certification?
IMO CCNA, but CCENT would be a better comparison. From my experience, people with CCNA have a better understanding of everything and it makes going into any IT field way easier. I would def start with A+, going straight for CCNA is like jumping into the ocean without knowing how to swim.
True stuff right there CCENT would be more comparable.. Got back?
@@manthing1467 looking juicy
Cisco ccna will push anyone to learn IT better than comptia certification except if your apply to job posting that requires one of their certification.
Hi! Can you do a video on ITIL?
Got my A+ in December last year. As an avid tech enthousiast at first I was smug because I thought the A+ was gonna be child's play. Don't get me wrong, if you like IT, and have been around computers for a while, you're gonna see a lot of familliar topics. However, remember that the A+ is essentially a foundation for the rest of your IT career, and I definitely see the generalized knowledge will help with connecting all the other topics down the line.
M D I found myself feeling the same way..now that I’m studying I’ve found how much I don’t know👍
Thank you for this comment!
Congrats ! Were you able to find a job with only a+ ? do you have experience ?
How about doing both? Will that be considered good on resume or shows a lack of direction .
Hi. What are your thoughts regarding starting an IT company as contractor for data centers?
Thinking of changing careers but definitely dont to go back to school (college) again do you recommend getting certified on necessary IT ? My Background is in businesses wanted to do computer science but I didn't 🤷♂️.
Don't make the mistake I made by going to college for a college certification program, you end up having to do almost all the degree program without general studies and end up with a college certification that ages very badly. I have a certification in Repair and Network administration $18,000 later I still don't have a in into IT. I have been trying since I completed in 2013. Now I need to go get more certifications to keep current because that is forever ago in the technology world.
Depends on your knowledge..if your just randomly getting into to make a career and don't know anything get the A plus than go for the cnna ...
Hey man. I am trying to make a career change into IT and I have a bachelors in supply chain management. What certificates should I get to help move into the IT realm?
How is the test out sim to.prepare for the aplus exam by its self or in addition to practice tests?
Good advice... Im starting from scratch and have been doing my research. My direction as of now is Network Engineer. Going to do self study and think my best starting route is A+, CCENT, and then CCNA. Then will go on further as time progresses. THOUGHTS?
Good pathway and get your vmware certification in networking as well.
CCNA is not an entry level, CCENT is entry level.
Not anymore
CCT has replaced CCNET as a entry level certification.
Yep I remember when the CCNA was the test of test it was like 80% failure rate cause it was everything not like today where it's broken up.
What about; MSDCT? Also, of you have worked a while, 10 years and you want to solidify your experience. Plus, which one could I carry on to study Networking and then Security , with a view stay in Security.
what do you think of ISC2s entry level certificate/ program?
I am about to get my first certification, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner certification. Now I am concerned about finding an entry level job because of my lack of knowledge. What are your thoughts on the job market and Any suggestions? I am so glad I subscribed because you have given me hope that I am doing the right thing for my second career. Take it easy
Are trying to become a cloud IT administrator or technician/desk support?
brief security discussed during aplus class was more interesting than the network part
What about these certifications vs ECUIP CORE (Without Build module preferably)?
I would like to know when i get in an IT entry level how much should i get paid?
A lot of people forget for those who are new to IT just because you have a higher cert doesn't mean you will get that job that pays the most. If you see most are senior ccna job postings. But the point here is experience, anyone from HR who I spoke to said number of years as experience out weighs those with certs. Your competing with IT majors from bacholer degrees to masters and even PhD level applicants. Experience is your best friend.
The best of of landing a job in the tech field along with networking with experience people because you need those reference in order to land the job.
