If you live anywhere near DC or any military base in the states. Always go with Comptia. If you’re not looking to work DoD, DHS etc. Go with a vendor specific certification.
I need to get inside too I live in DC
Just to add :
MS does offer free exam vouchers (for the xx-900 level) just for attending their training webinars (schedule listed on their site). Also, MS very often provides exam vouchers for free for participating in their activities.
AWS, though very rarely, also provides deep discounts (50%) on their exams as well.
Blesssss you!
I'm just learning IT as a hobby right now, I weld for a living which pays more than entry to mid IT. My approach is to go over the study material of many certifications just to grasp and absorb the knowledge but not spend too much time for a hard study, and then maybe zero in on a path later. I know a little of everything, and a lot of nothing LOL.
You just described me, bud, lol. Except I'm in HVAC
Same but automotive
So how is it going man? Are you in IT now?
@@Diaszurana Theres good money in having HVAC and programming knowledge, I worked in a place before which had a few guys with HVAC knowledge and C++ , they were paid a lot more than the avarage HVAC or programmer, the software company basically made sofrware to analyse airflow etc which realy helped with understanding both.
@@Diaszuranaholy sh*t ppl like us actually exist. I’m in Hvac as well 😭😭
I feel that as time goes on Cloud + may become more valuable because of Hybrid cloud and fringe environments emerging more often.
Just to add, the DOD signed a contract with Azure a couple years back and have been steadily migrating ever since.... If your goal is DOD.... Azure.
Excellent Information!
AWS and GCP are big in California.
Some companies that use GCP around the country: Ford, Home Depot, Paypal, Charles Schwab, Major League Baseball, Target, Spotify, and the Forbes magazine to name a few.
AWS: Harvard Medical School, Comcast, Disney, Capital One, Discover, Slack, Adobe, Samsung, Airbnb, McDonalds, and Netflix as some of the big names.
I've taken almost all the CompTIA exams offered over the last 20 years. I do agree that the pricing on the CompTIA exams is a bit expensive, however I've learned a lot prepping for CompTIA exams.
One aspect I do like about CompTIA exams is the ability to keep the cert after completing CEUs, and not necessarily having to retake the exam every few years to maintain the cert. Many vendor certs expire. The AWS CCP you either have to retake that exam in three years OR take a more advanced AWS exam, but if your primary job isn't using AWS you may be studying for other exams. I prefer the ability to use webinars, other certifications, etc. to gain CEUs to retain CompTIA certs, than studying and retaking exams every three years.
hey there @Michael,
what are CEUs? and would you recommend taking Cloud+ to anyone living and working outside of the US, say Europe?
@@TheInternetFan "CEUs" are continuing education units...some cert vendors may use the acronym "CE". Typically, and in CompTIA's case, one CEU is equal to about 1 hour. So, a 2 hour webinar could be used for 2 CEUs. For Cloud+ you have to get 50 CEUs over three years (Note there is also a $50 a year CEU "management" fee that is paid to CompTIA for them tracking CEUs.) Of course the webinars or classes etc. that cover CEUs have to relate to cloud technologies. For my CEUs, I've watched online webinars, used hours from college courses, taken additional certs from the "approved" list. To renew my CEUs for Cloud+ this go round I took the AWS Cloud Practitioner, which got me all the CEU points, and you just provide some certificate or record that you attended a class or webinar. CompTIA provides a portal for uploading your CEU information. The link below goes to the CompTIA CEU "how to renew" site for more info.
I would say anyone wanting a founational introduction to cloud terminology and technology should consider Cloud+. If you are working specifically in Azure or AWS, you might just want to take one of their "fundamentals" certs, since you're already getting hands on. However, if you want a general cloud knowledge cert, I think CompTIA is a good start to prove to potential employers that you have some basic knowledge.

i’m thinking about using CompTIA to get certified, but i just started my journey into IT. sorry if this seems like an unnecessary question, but which purchase would you recommend? would you say the ebook is enough to pass the exam?
@@peachedpits1472 I’m not sure what ebook you are referring to. However, if you are just starting out in IT, I would typically expect using at least a couple different ebooks, or texts. I find that one book may more thoroughly cover some topics better than another, so at least two books.
And for many CompTIA exams there are plenty of free online resources and forums to help. Quizlet’s site has a lot of user published questions and flashcards to quiz yourself, for example.
For books I like the publishers Sybex and the Mcgraw Hill All in One books. The Exam Cram series is good as well. Just be sure you get the texts for the most recent test numbers though.
If you had scrolled down further on the Azure certs, they are offering them for $15 right now due to COVID-19. That's how I got mine 😊
Thank you will book mine today.
Same
wow nice thanks for sharing
:O
I used that last year. That only works for 1-time use.
I’m so glad I watched this video. I currently work in a non IT environment but I’m looking to move toward infrastructure. I just looked at our career website for job descriptions…. And it states AWS or Microsoft Azure.. wow. Thanks man, I’ll definitely change my direction.
I passed Cloud+ yesterday with a 767. You can get buy on that exam with general It knowledge and some enterprise experience.
Much of the exam isn't that cloud-focused. Try it.
absolute lie, its really hard exam, the questions are lengthy and have multiple right answers
Cheers for the content, your vids helped me get a job as a technician at an IT firm :))
Cloud+ is NOT a fundamentals exam. That is good 2 know. Especially with that 💲338 price tag. Plus, I think they already have a fundamentals based exam called Cloud Essentials. I am willing to divulge the possibility of the fact that CompTIA will have an advanced #cloud certification in the future. Not to mention a data+ one.
Mere months later: And now we have a data+. So far so good.😉
Thinking about this cert next as I got my Network+ and Linux+ this year. It will renew my net and Linux as well as giving me a stackable cert.

GCP is actually the leading Cloud provider in the international market while aws rules the national market. Thus, Azure is basically the middle child in both markets. Keep in mind, that since the Google Cloud Platform may be less used in certain markets, that would/could actually make it more valuable (economically or otherwise). Others pros have agreed. Furthermore, Azure has been vastly gaining momentum on closing that gap.
Agree! Google Cloud certs are the highest paid too.
I'm getting mines
I can take the Cloud+ exam at the academic price of $163, if I wanted. My enterprise got a deal for free Microsoft Azure exams and I passed the AZ-900 and MS-900 exams. Got my eyes on the AZ-104 in the next two weeks.
I sometimes try CompTIA beta exams since they offer them for $50. They can be hard because there isn't any current study material, but for $50 I'll give it a shot, even though I usually fail. If I do fail, I just keep the knowledge I gained from studying and go on to the next exam. I agree about the value of much less expensive cert exams from other vendors. I'm not paying over $300 when I can get something more beneficial for about $100-150. Thank you for an informative video.
Thanks very much can't wait work for you you gave me hope all this years.
i got my AWS CCP cert after 3 days of study. Really easy exam and bang for buck only $99
Same here with the AZ-900, pretty easy cram and the answers are very much deducible.
Hi @MLV which course contents did u use for exam preparation ? I am interested to do this certification
3 days. You have experience already in IT right?
@@BadWeatherfreak no experience, only net+ sec+ and cysa+ certs knowledge
I scheduled the new Beta exam for the end of February for $50.
I am getting a free voucher for a CompTIA Cloud+ Certification. So I will write it. Anways, this vedio is very informative. :)
Thank you for the information.
getting updated in Cloud+ should automatically renew your Secuity+, Netowrk + and A+ certs. I hope I am right.
Cloud+ renews Linux+ and A+, not Sec+ and Net+
Security+ and all other cybersecurity certs above sec+ renews Net+ and A+ your better off like IT questions said, there is more value(in other words salary wise) for AWS basic certs or even AZURE then to spend 2x the money on a cert very few employers are even asking for ( i used both Monster and indeed to check this)
Yeah I'm getting tired of their whateverthefuck+ certs. I'll be looking into AWS associate, thanks zach.
Thank you for the valuable information
How do you answer "Describe your homelab" during an interview?
"It use as much electricity as the first supercomputer and can heat my house in seconds, also, the sumer works as a private jet"
Jokes aside, just describe what you are using it for, what services you have tried that can be used on a work environment like open vpn, PFsense, ubiquiti, hypervisor etc. Make them understand that you know how to use a virtualized server and install stuff on it, they especially love docker so try docker on your homelab, docker is awesome (;
What about Hyper V/windows Server/RedHat? We NEED the MCSE again/ALL they had to do is add cloud OSs, to the MCSE/add that to what you need to learn, Hyper V/Windows Server/Linux/Windows, is STILL underneath these cloud OSs.
Thank you for the advice!
I work in Cloud Operations & Support, but I feel like I'm stuck in that box. I want to be able to understand be to have the ability to adapt as the Cloud grows, and I may find a position to move up in my company. I just don't know what certification is going to do that for me. Any advice?
This seems like a cash grab considering AWS and Azure has their own certs.. I wonder if ComTIA will come out with a IoT cert?
Great work man! Keep it up
Cloud+ for government jobs
In my area it’s definitely much more so azure
Could you do a video on CompTIA cloud essentials?!
Holy Hell! Comptia now thinks they are Cisco or Amazon. Next up, a $400 A+ cert exam?
Pretty much, I’m having to pay 330 (that’s with a discount) for my sec+
Would having this Cert look good on a resume for a Saas job?
Thanks for be candid 🅰️🅿️💯
Hello, I’m new to the channel and to the I.T field! My question is, do the vendors offer prep before paying for the certification test?
Is GCP really that bad? I was recommended to use Google Cloud Platform by my very non technical business, lol
I am in the market for this exam for only 2 reasons. 1. I did not retake my two A+ exams, as I was already certified (2010) and 2. did not retake my Net+ exam, as I was already certified (2010), so I am waiting to see if the school will re-allocate the funds for this exam and cloud essentials. How difficult would Cloud + be, starting from scratch and essentials?? I have about 6 months let of school, currently and going to be taking SEC+ and CyberSec+ also. Along with course in JaVA, Html and Graphic design.
Hey I was wondering if you have a video or any links to pros/ cons to taking comptia test / training directly with comptia compared to training in community college in pursuit of degree.
Anyone here experienced next Gen T training? I checked the site but I would see mismatched information. Not really 😕 a good 1st impression.
Thanks
Poor advice. Most companies and organizations are going multi-cloud. Having one vendor certification above the entry or fundamental level is good. Cloud+ is a great starting point. It will help prepare to more easily pass that vendor certification.
Nope. Get a cloud vendor cert or three
Two years late, but yes I agree. I took the Cloud+ (while already holding 2 AWS certs simply because I got a raise for doing so) and while I did learn a couple new things from the Cloud+, it’s actually very shallow and does not prepare you at ALL for working with actual cloud platforms.
I know CompTIA says it’s not a fundamentals exam, but it kinda did feel like one.
wait I need server+ first?
gimme the job pay scale
Ok. I'm new, what's the deal with Google Cloud? Do they suck or something? I don't get it.
Google got into the enterprise cloud market after Amazon and Microsoft. As a result they haven't yet built up the kinds of relationships to the extent that Amazon and Microsoft have. AWS, Azure, GCP provide similar services. It's a matter of business preferences.
Why are you making Google cry man
this is scam lol
