Something about the first season just hits different. In some ways it feels like a different show than what came later. It's far more focused on parodying sci-fi cliches than on making fun of itself. The structure is much more intricate and there's less intentional deus ex machina. OK, I love this review. You talked about everything good about the first season and weren’t afraid to criticize everything you didn’t like about the first season, which I commend you for. However, there’s one mistake: I need to point out what you made. You said he never took responsibility for his actions in the Love Potion episode. I completely disagree with you. He did take responsibility for his actions. I’m not saying that just because I’m biased with my being a Morty fan; while I’m a big fan of his character, I believe you’re right about criticizing him in this episode. Though I think this episode is a deconstruction of a love potion, most people don’t believe it’s messed up until the implications of a love potion are brought up, like Morty in this episode. Anyway, I think you were wrong because when Morty called out Rick for causing this apocalypse, Rick ripped into Morty for having him make the love potion and called it a roofie. Morty was shocked and horrified by Rick’s words, and as I pointed out, he took responsibility for his actions; he stated that he caused this mess and he was going to take responsibility, and all he wanted was for Rick to take responsibility because as Morty pointed out, he chose to make the potion anyway, even though he knew it was a roofie, mixed up a bunch of nonsense and made a serum that transformed the humans race into monsters. Morty took responsibility for his actions in this episode, and all he wanted was for Rick to take responsibility for his actions as well and for him to fix the problem the two of them caused, which Rick refused to do both and just ran away to another dimension where a counterpart of his dig fix the problem. Okay can we all step the hell back and remember that this rick and morty fandom thing was like… at LEAST 6 years ago? Bringing up practically ancient clips by internet times just makes a whole fandom that is LONG past those days just look… bad I’m a huge fan of some of Season 7’s episodes and I feel like acting like the fandom is still “szechuan sauce” and all that is just giving it a bad name and alienating people who might be genuinely interested.
I meant in your face ones. I should have probably clarified that. Like in later seasons they're just like you know this insert movie or pop culture refrence
Here's the thing...this is a good season with some great episodes. The new seasons are different but the last couple seasons have been absolutely amazing. The humor is different but Holy shit the shows newer episodes are fantastic and far more deep than they used to be. Beth and Jerry's relationship was meant to be crap back then and they even referenced it when Jerry got stuck in the season 2 universe recently for an episode. That's character development of the highest order.
weird tidbits abound in S1 that are odd to think about in hindsight. like, there's a 'joke' in Ricksy Business that seems to imply Jerry has been r*ped before??? I never see it brought up, and it doesn't go anywhere... bizarre oh, and if I may be mildly pedantic, "Our" Rick is C-137, but "Our" Morty merely assumes that makes him "Morty C-137", which he's never corrected on. the double take reaction from the Council Ricks when he declares himself "Morty C-137" cements this imo. but that ties into the Big Reveal.
Season 2 and 1 were great. 3 was okay. Then it started to slip. And now it is trash TBH. Rowland isn't a good person, but it isn't the same without the improv feel and "loosesness". Also, I noticed each season got more and more gore filled and massive battle filed, which gets annoying after awhile.
How about Ranking all episodes like 1 to 10. The Overall season Ranking could be the mean of all episode ranking. If you do this for all seasons, this would be a cool comparison.
Episode 2 there’s only a few pop culture episodes? The whole thing is based off inception and a Freddy Krueger knock off is one of the main characters of the episode the whole episode is a pop culture reference
Super disagree with saying Rick potion number 9 was mortys fault. Like mortys a kid and asked his grandpa for something most hormonal 14 year olds would take advantage of if they had a chance. Rick was the adult in the situation, and rather than giving Morty a lesson about respect and consent he enabled morty’s creepy behaviour. Everything after that such as not mentioning that it shouldn’t be used with the flu is also just a dumb move on ricks behalf.
Its really funny how in this review you just bring hate to morty after episode 4 or 5 because I feel like they just wanted to make people think of Rick like that
Sorry to comment without watching but I find your title and opening remarks as miss lead I think you can enjoy Rick and Monty without a high iq and season one was good Rick and morty 100 years!
I'm sorry but a teen/child should know better not to force someone into a situation like that. There's no excuse. But I do agree now it is also Ricks fault
@@workinprogress1987 usually id agree but Morty does have a learning disability as mentioned in ep 1. Plus Rick has for a long time been constantly directly and indirectly been teaching him that he shoul take whatever he wants and do whatever he wants as long as Rick is not interfed with. Morty is 14 and every single kid makes wiered and immoral acts, its up to family and other adults to help them and stop them.
To sum up how I feel about R&M: Rick got the Flanderization treatment. The man went from "man who solved his problems through pure wit and street-smarts and intelligence who didn't want to care about anything but actually cares a whole lot deep down" into "man who is an omniscient God who cannot die because he's basically a robot, oh, and he doesn't care about anything and talks like Deadpool now. That's a thing now. Fuck you." And it's so Goddamn annoying to me. I don't WANT omniscient characters who solve everything with robot powers or immortality. I want characters with fucking stakes, and depth. Even in a show like R&M which started as parody, gained a following, and then Flanderized itself to death.
I agree with you completely. That's why I loved a lot of season 6 episodes because they depower him like Night Family and the fortune cookie one. He couldn't just rely on his tech body

Okay can we all step the hell back and remember that this rick and morty fandom thing was like… at LEAST 6 years ago? Bringing up practically ancient clips by internet times just makes a whole fandom that is LONG past those days just look… bad
I’m a huge fan of some of Season 7’s episodes and I feel like acting like the fandom is still “szechuan sauce” and all that is just giving it a bad name and alienating people who might be genuinely interested.
I love every single episode of this season.
Episode 1 is the weakest, but it's still really good.
W video!! make moreeee😭🙏
02:25 That’s a reference to the movie American Beauty playing while the voiceover says this episode doesn’t have pop culture references.
I meant in your face ones. I should have probably clarified that. Like in later seasons they're just like you know this insert movie or pop culture refrence
The something rick this way comes episode is an example of the A plot being good but the B plot being terrible.
I have always thought pilot is the funniest episode of the show.
Do more Rick and Morty
0:04 brooooo 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀💀
Excited for more!
It's "Something Rick-ED This Way Comes", dude.. As in, WICKED? Jesus.
Tbh it got good after season 3 ep 1. When they started to introduce cannon and lore.
It felt like they hated adding the lore though. Trust me if you stick around you'll hear my opinion on season 3 and beyond
@@workinprogress1987 yeah true. Good take.
Don't be lazy due Season 2 I subscribed
I won't, I'm starting work on it tomorrow, don't worry
i actually thought about that channel name in the past for myself. RIP
Yeah uhh that first guy rolling on the floor. Yeah he's not with us😂 we don't know him
Can’t wait for your show
So many classics, every ep from s1-2 is streets ahead of s3 onwards. The M.NightSham aliens episode is def top 3 for me
Here's the thing...this is a good season with some great episodes.
I don't understand why people don't like the recent series, I think there are some of the best episodes of the show in Series 6&7
weird tidbits abound in S1 that are odd to think about in hindsight. like, there's a 'joke' in Ricksy Business that seems to imply Jerry has been r*ped before??? I never see it brought up, and it doesn't go anywhere... bizarre
oh, and if I may be mildly pedantic, "Our" Rick is C-137, but "Our" Morty merely assumes that makes him "Morty C-137", which he's never corrected on. the double take reaction from the Council Ricks when he declares himself "Morty C-137" cements this imo. but that ties into the Big Reveal.
Scott the Woz on Family Guy? 👀
Season 2 please ❤
Working on it!!
Time for season 2…
Raising gazorpazorp is a direct parody of Zardoz
Season 2 and 1 were great. 3 was okay. Then it started to slip. And now it is trash TBH. Rowland isn't a good person, but it isn't the same without the improv feel and "loosesness". Also, I noticed each season got more and more gore filled and massive battle filed, which gets annoying after awhile.
good video but use a different font pls or at least more readable colours !!
35 times. That's how much the word rick is said during Rick Citadel Episode Review (at least that's what I counted)
Damn! Thanks for Counting! Now do the whole video! Just kidding
@@workinprogress1987 ....I'll consider this a challenge... Maybe...
I wasn't sure if it's 35 or 36
How about Ranking all episodes like 1 to 10. The Overall season Ranking could be the mean of all episode ranking.
If you do this for all seasons, this would be a cool comparison.
You can’t actually believe the Cronenberg potion is Morty’s fault ?!
Not all the way but he really wanted to roofie a girl which is just extremely messed up
@@workinprogress1987 jep
Episode 2 there’s only a few pop culture episodes? The whole thing is based off inception and a Freddy Krueger knock off is one of the main characters of the episode the whole episode is a pop culture reference
I got 10 unskippable ads in 30 mins wtf
Either the pilot isn't C137, or its just straight up not cannon to the Rick and Morty multiverse.
Its really funny how in this review you just bring hate to morty after episode 4 or 5 because I feel like they just wanted to make people think of Rick like that
Huh, I was negative about morty in one of the episodes, what does "wanted to make people think of Rick like that" even mean
Sorry to comment without watching but I find your title and opening remarks as miss lead I think you can enjoy Rick and Monty without a high iq and season one was good Rick and morty 100 years!
R/woosh
@workinprogress1987 lol I mean I was gonna watch the video later
No I mean it's a whole joke where people say that you need a high iq to watch rick and Morty. Obviously I don't believe that
PLEASE STOP saying "shama aliens" it's "M Night Sham aliens" 😭
22:30 Actually tried it thirty seconds later I passed away
I fwy
No, I fwy
15:43 it's not morty's fault at all..... He's a teen/child, he doesn't know better. It's all Rick's fault.
To sum up how I feel about R&M:
Rick got the Flanderization treatment.
Fuck you."
And it's so Goddamn annoying to me.
22:33 that's a gravity falls reference
Not a good video, a great one
Thank you!!
Yes. It was fucking hilarious. It just got boring like a lot of shit.
Everything’s good
2:11 2:24 never heard of
Back to the future
Yeah...
I meant references that their just like, "This thing exists." Should have clarified
Rick prime?! 11:17
XeNON, not Xeno Blume. It's an element on the periodic table.
There is no Morty c-137
Oh ya I guess your right. Still going to call this Morty that though
@@workinprogress1987He’s Morty Prime
@@workinprogress1987Yeh, our Morty still calls himself Morty c-137 because he’s with Rick c-137
