My son sometimes has me in tears when I'm conversing with him. He says the funniest things, so awesome seeing them change into who they are

Wow. My son turned 3 in June. I was JUST thinking “I need to see a video about speech development in 3 year olds” because I see a lot of videos show speech development for either smaller toddlers, or children who don’t have barely any speech at all.

My son will be 4 in December and I notice that I struggle to get him to answer questions (often repeating what we just said), but it’s getting better. But he struggles in making eye contact and is very fidgety, but watching this video made me more at ease. Maybe it’s just typical for his age, great video!

Your channel has been so helpful! My oldest had some language delays that I never even noticed until his teachers pointed it out, and I felt terrible. Your videos have been so reassuring with my daughter, making sure she’s on track. Thank you!

Need advice please. My son who is 3 y 8 m, just had a follow up speech eval. He had one 6 months ago and did not qualify. I thought that was insane since he had barely any phrases. But I went along with it. He now has more phrases and a few sentences, but he repeats a lot and recites from cartoons a little (immediate and delayed reciting). But his sentences are rare. He cannot tell me what he did at school or what he did in a day with me or daddy. I don’t know if he really has fun at school even though he says yes he did. How can I tell if he knows what this means?
At the follow up, he scored even higher and obvs didn’t qualify. His receptive was over 100, his expressive was 89 I think. What do I do? I worry he’s not social enough and I think it’s bc of the speech delay. Just bc his scores are higher, doesn’t mean he doesn’t need speech help. He can answer lots of simple questions, but rarely asks questions. He does not hold long convos. His convos consist of yes/no answers and other simple questions. He’s loving his abcs and numbers. He loves putting his number puzzle in order. Does this a lot. Should I let him? Or should I limit it? When does it become an obsession? Please help.

I just finished the video and I’m so sad my son can’t talk like yours. I know I said above, but he can’t tell me what he did at school, doesn’t reference friends, and can’t say what we will do in the future. Like when your son said y’all are going on a hike, mine can’t do that. He would prob just repeat my question. But he didn’t qualify for speech therapy. Whyyyy

Tiffany Michelle my 3.5 year old daughter is experiencing the same exact thing, to the point where I could swear this was about her. I’m wondering if you ever got any guidance or found anything you could share that helped with improving his speech?

My son has SOTOS syndrome, so his speech is delayed. He is turning two next month and he does not babble much. He expresses himself by screaming, pointing at times or by pulling our hands. Any suggestions?

I like your attempt, but this is an area where the American and probably state Speech Path associations will have better information on line. I'd suggest you also need to put context and definition to a 3YO using 2-3 sentences, given such language can vary so much in complexity, appropriateness to context, concepts and grammar used etc etc
