Jannik Sinner has improved a lot in the last season. Now he has a very solid serve, and he proved he can be strong also on Grass and Clay. Mentally, he's already one of the best on tour. He was stopped from injuries, or he would have reached others SF and F this year. Can he be a future number 1? To me, the answer is a big YES.
Yes, he has more potential than Carlos because of his size, span and serve. Carlos is shorter than the 183cm players at handshakes (Gasquet, Ruud, De Minaur) so he starts with a handicap. His mentality is also weaker than Sinner, Carlitos will often force like a brute when he is dominated, and then increases the number of unforced errors. Against good players, it is devastating. Congrats to Sinner. Sinner’s calm demeanor will help him big matches when his back is against the wall. I think this is going to be the rivalry of the next decade.
The most amazing stat is that they played 7 sets between Wimbledon and Umag and an incredible player like Alcaraz has not been able to break Sinner’s serve. Simply outstanding.
VAMOOOOS. I knew he could do it. Everyone rambling about Alcaraz having the edge on clay... Sinner broke through on clay and has always been great on the surface even though he hadn’t won a title yet.
Put it this way I was extremely happy throwing 2k on sinner. I watched these too play the whole tournament i had no doubt that sinner was losing this match.
Love the Italian boys: Berrettini, Mussetti and Sinner. There’re all so classy on court specially Sinner, love that he’s always so calm and composed and such a gentleman on court !!! Sinner is my new favourite after the big three. 💕
You better watch more of Musetti because he's anything but classy. He cheated against Alcaraz, and in the previous match he played an underarm serve in a match point against Cerundolo (not classy)
I'm happy you think so, and I agree. And I'm extremely happy, as Italian, that they are polite and nice, also Zeppieri and Sonego, and they are not similar to Fabio Fognini's behaviour. Fognini is/was one of the greatest Italian talent, talent he wasted just because he is not mentally strong and he is not able to control his feelings/anger. I don't like his behaviour on the court, even if outside the court we know he is nice and polite, he does and says things that are a shame.
@@flanderstruck3751 I heard something about Musetti cheating. How did he cheat? I wonder if it had something to do with the double bounce incident that I think happened against Alcaraz.
Sinner even stayed calm with the time warning. I'm impressed too and he is also my new favorite after Nadal. I'm still am a fan of Alcaraz. I have nothing against Federer, Djokovic annoys me but I appreciate how good he is.
In tennis - big muscles are rather an obstacle. It is the fluidity and freedom of the movement of the arms that make this perfect technique of Sinner. His muscles are just enough for his tennis, bigger muscles would only slow down his strokes. However - big muscles are more durable and powerful in the long matches. Hence Nadal and Alcaraz type of players have great chances in the grand slams. So currently we have two types of players: skinny and tall, and shorter but super-powerful. And in the long run, I think Alcaraz career will be as long as Nadal's on the constant high-level.
@@Planetearththeonlyone interesting, thanks for your ideas. I've been a tennis fan for a long time and usually pay attention to what the players look like. Thin guys often do well if they're athletes and have good technique. I remember Gustavo Kuerten, 6'3" and maybe 165 lbs. Big, muscular guys are good when they're young but they tend to get injured. Think of Mark Philippoussis, Richard Krajicek and a few others. Johan Kriek was like you mentioned, shorter but muscular. Sebastian Diaz is built like him.

The 2 most aggressive players on the tour? Hm remember how badly Djokovic defeated Sinner at Wimbledon! Who would you say was more aggressive Sinner or Djokovic? There is little doubt that Sinner will be the best tennis player in the world once Djokovic retires. It doesn't matter how many tournaments the global ruling class keep Djokovic out of because he won't get their experimental phase 3 blood clotting mRNA concoction injections or how far down the rankings he falls he will still be the best player in the world!
@@SilentTM True, also Djokovic is a senior & has tremendous experience in such situations. While Sinner is just 20. The current Djokovic is no way an aggressive player but more of thinker & analyser (yes he analyses (+/- of players) it in the game itself that's how he could beat Sinner & Nick Kyrgios, Nick actually played his highest best on grass & somehow Djokovic neatly analysed the dynamics of Nick's serve to break his deadly serves . Djokovic was very aggressive & athletic before 2011 where he was equal to Nadal (except lacked skills & serves)
Sinner completely outclassed Alcaraz in the 2nd and 3rd. Alcaraz versus Italians (lost to Berrettini, Sinner x2, Musetti, and almost lost to injured Zeppieri). It’s his kryptonite.
Alcaraz played 67% of first serve in the second and third set but his service has been broken 5 times out of 7. Return is the most important fundametal in modern tennis, everyone can serve but a few ones can return properly.
Yeah, and Sinner sucks returning. He broke Djokovic 0 times when it mattered the most: in the 4th and 5th sets of their Wimbledon match. Novak was serving so comfortable and winning 40-0 or 40-15 all his services games in the 4th and 5th sets.
@@seanhillery1231 Sinner is not in the league of old Federer, let alone current Nadal returning. Even 37 (almost 38) years old Federer broke Novak's serve in the 5th set of the Wimbledon 2019 final and had multiple break points. Nadal broke Novak's serve in the 4th set and had 2 break points against Novak in the 5th set of the Wimbledon 2018 SF. Sinner had 0, I repeat, 0 break points against Novak in the last 2 sets of the Wimbledon 2022 QF. Sinner's return game sucks when compared with all-time greats. He simply can't stand long rallies with Novak or Nadal and that is the reason why he has never beaten either. Sinner is 0-2 against Novak in the H2H and 0-3 against Nadal in the H2H. According to the official ATP stats, Nadal has a Return Rating of 166.3 across all surfaces over the last 52 weeks, while Sinner has a Return Rating of 155.0. Yes, but.... The first 13 games - which Alcaraz 'won' - got 3.40 of highlights. Whereas the last 14 games - which Sinner 'won' - got 4.25 of highlights. So, the evidence not only doesn't support your emphatic declaration - but actually evidence the *_opposite_*
People have been obviously overhyping Alcaraz, just take a look. Sinner is young as well but this boy is way more calm and never overcelebrates when it's not necessary.
It's like he saves all of his power and focus only on the game, and it seems to work wonders. I see Jannik Sinner being the next big thing, if he keeps working better at his ROS game.
It has nothing to do with age. Carlos is counciously imitating Nadal in his overt celebration (despite him being a Roger fan lol). Nadal's celebrations were even more outrageous well into his mid 20s. By 2014-2015 he started calming down a bit.
Alcaraz has won 2 masters, has beaten Nadal, Djokovic, Tsitsipas and Zverev so the hype is well earned. Sinner is playing great and looking ready to win the Masters level tournaments now.
Alcaraz hasn't been in the really explosive form he was earlier this year, but I also think some of the other players are starting to work out how to play him. It'll be interesting to see how he performs the rest of the season. My guess is he could do with a bit of a rest.
Losing in 3 sets in the final to a top-form Sinner is hardly grounds for needing a rest. Maybe losing to Musetti last week could qualify as a bad loss, but considering that's his "worst" loss of the year... no, Carlitos is just fine.
I agree, now the other players know him. I also wrote in a comment, at the beginning of the year I think, that he was playing without any pressure as nobody (or nearly nobody) knew him. And I said "let's see, when he will be the one that is supposed to win, how he will manage that pressure" and here we are... I think it is more difficult now for him and he needs to get used to it. But he is an extraordinary champion. As Sinner.
Love how sinner took advantage of Alcaraz serve. He always thrust himself so deep into the court after every serve sinner just kept hitting deep balls back to the body excellent gameplane by sinner 💪
If you watch carefully you will see that by the time Sinner figured out Alcaraz' serve he attacked it with brute force taking away time from Carlos to prepare a counter punch. For me, this was the key for Sinner to break Alcaraz' serve frequently and get the win. The serve, by the way, is actually one of very few weaknesses in Carlos' game. He does not hit it flat but with (lots of) kick. But whenever it was too short Sinner punished it with a brutal return.
at the beginning of the second set it looked like alcaraz gonna run away now with a 0: 40 lead but then the game completely shifted sinner was using every chance and alcaraz was missin all chances .. this match up is electric love to see it the future of tennis is NOW 🔥🔥
Sinner was dominant here, even in the first set (which Carlos won). His shots were 25% faster than Alcaraz's at all times. Carlos was on the defensive the entire match.
@@phadley78tube This in my opinion, so maybe i'm wrong, but it is for three reasons... First one: in that period Alcaraz was more in form then now, probably because was less tired and with more energy. Second one: Sinner in the court is one of players who have most powerfull and fast shot so is hard to outpowered him or play a full match with the same power of him, still not impossible, but it's hard. Third one: the tactics, the last season Alcaraz appear in the last part of the calendeer so wasn't really known well his playstyle and also the quality of his play was below this year. At the start of 2022 season he improve a lot the quality of his game and for this reason he had a strong and rapid rise, but now is one of the best tennis players so he is whatched and studied by all players so his tactics are now "well known" so if he want to stay on that level he must change somenthing in his tactics and his playstyle, is not easy, but he still have 19 years old so he can do it. Also Sinner have changed a lot his tactics during last season and this season.
Not long ago Sinner took 2 sets from Djokovic in wimbledon QF..That brought him under world’s attention..But I had been finding him impressive since more than year ago..He has improved hell lot since last year....And that cross court ballastic forehand his latest weapon…definitely GS material , and world will not have to wait much long….
Sinner's game is clearly benefiting from Cahill's coaching. His serve and his volley are improving. He also looks fitter. Future looks promising cause he can get better and better. For a guy that fully committed to tennis relatively late (he was part of the ski junior national team) "is not too bad".
Congrats! I hope Sinner has a great career in tennis. He's very impressive. I wonder if there's an Italian flag emoji you could've inserted in your message.
those break chances in the beginning of the second were everything, i recall something similar happening in the Tsitsipas vs Zverev RG 21 semi. amazing how they can mentally turn the battle around for one of the players
alcaraz is ambitious, intense, and accomplished, but sinner is demonstrating his mental fortitude much more. he already beat alcaraz and nearly djokovic at wimbledon. he once again saves crucial break points and stays cool enough to put down a hungry alcaraz. absolute god mode in those last two sets. i think alcaraz is getting too anxious about the expectations towards him, but sinner just has ice in his veins either way. a balanced game like djokovic with federer-level aggression.
OK - this is a big match. I've always thought Alcaraz was going to be and remain a class above Sinner. Not anymore. On top of his devastating ground strokes, he now has the drop shots, the serve, the mental strength ... everything.
Sinner is also closing the points early now and coming to the net more often. This puts a lot of pressure on his opponents. Sinner used to be a baseline ball basher like Rublev, now he's developed a lot more variety and options. His serve and return in particular has significantly improved along with his volleys and drop shots.
I thought Alcaraz had a good match-up against Sinner, but that Jannik had the superior ground game, almost never missing shots. Carlos used to be able to hit through him more, but Jannik has worked a ton on his legs, he has chicken-legs like Medvedev does that run fast everywhere now.
Seems like Sinner's just got Carlos' number lately. Two great talents and great personalities. Hopefully Their rivalry continues for the next 15 years because they both elevate each other's games so much. My two favorite players to watch right now.
Well done to Sinner the winner! He's grown in confidence since he beat Alcaraz at Wimbledon and no surprise he beat him again now. He'll win many more titles I'm sure.
They built Alcaraz into an idol too soon. They actually did him a disfavor in doing so. We are seeing other players who can beat him. He is not invincible.
No player is unbeatable and no player is supposed to win every match? He let his 2-0 win record against Sinner go to an even 2-2 record. Still, Alcaraz having won two Masters 1000 at 19 years old and beating Nadal, Djokovic and Zverev in a row is no small feat. Alcaraz has the potential to be better but he will need to play smarter or he will be prone to injuries. Also, I personally don't like his over celebrating and rousing the audience but I see many young players doing this now.

The way Alcaraz was playing leading upto the final, you would need to produce "Big 3" level of tennis to get past him. Musetti was great, helped by an overeager Alcaraz committing unforced errors at crucial junctions. On the other hand, Sinner dismantled Alcaraz, the last two sets, with some ungodly level of hitting from the baseline. Reminded me a bit of Sascha Zverev match, in the French Open.

Your comment is like 5 year's old boy... Djokovic is an experienced and consolidated multi-Champion, with many victories on grass till now. Winning two sets on grass to him is already a big win for Sinner. You are terribly wrong stating the career of these two are on the same level today. So your comment is a no-sense.
Btw, if you don't like watching new generation's stepping in Tennis, just avoid watching it and go playing electric train models... Bwah!
Sinner has such a beautiful forehand. So smooth yet so powerful.
Sinner got a mental of champion WOW after this 0 - 40 the match change... save 9 break points. Very happy for him.
I hope to see in the future more Alcaraz Sinner match. They are amazing
Congrats to Sinner. He really played hell in the 2nd and the 3rd, having completely dismantled Alcaraz.
Jesus those slap forehands from Sinner are insane, he really improved that stroke, it was already good but in this match insanely good.
Dear Pope, are you talking about a sinner's stroke? :P
Sinner looks so elegant in his posture for every shot like he's posing for a magazine cover ... he's bringing elegance into the game now that Federer's out with injuries .... its great that he's shots are also getting more powerful and penetrating ....
There is clay and clay. Umag is like a bouncy fast hard court. These days only RG has real clay.

The power in some of these baseline rallies is crazy... two future greats in action
watching this ahead of their french open matchup-they're both so perfect that it looks like a video game at times.
@@flanderstruck3751 😂😂😂😂 so many are doing the same, underarm serves are really common now... and he is 20 years old.
Sinner has so much power from the baseline, and he's not a muscular guy. His technique in stroke generation must be just about perfect.
Great comment. It's the timing and his abity to read the opponent's ball that allow Sinner to generate power. Impressive.
I think it's his balance. Probably having been a skier at a very high level helps him a lot in this respect
As Italian Fan I’m so proud and happy of these wonderful new generation.

The 2 most aggressive players on the tour? Hm remember how badly Djokovic defeated Sinner at Wimbledon! Who would you say was more aggressive Sinner or Djokovic? Return is the most important fundametal in modern tennis, everyone can serve but a few ones can return properly.
I would say that after Djoker, and maybe sometime soon, Sinner is the best returner in the game.
In other words, Nadal is the second player with a better ATP Return Rating only behind Novak, while Sinner is 9th. To claim that Sinner is a better returner than Nadal is delusional.

Mind-blowing performance from Sinner! 🤯 Shocked to see him outperforming Alcaraz to this degree! He's really improved!
When Sinner begins to destroy Alcaraz, it's the end of the highlights.
6' when Alcaraz wins, 2' when Sinner destroys him
It is funny, although tiebreak sets can take really long and Sinner hammered Alcarez after that holding from 0-40 down. Tricky
I mean Sinner is nearly two years older, which is a big gap in sports. Alcaraz in 2 years will also be more matured
Totally agree. Alcaraz is full of ego.
Impressive. We will be seeing more of these two young studs in Finals for years to come. This is just the beginning.
What a victory! This is a boost for his confidence this year. I am falling in love with this rivalry!
Alcaraz hasn't been in the really explosive form he was earlier this year, but I also think some of the other players are starting to work out how to play him. It'll be interesting to see how he performs the rest of the season. My guess is he could do with a bit of a rest.
Yes.

Forza Jannik! And This win doesn’t make Alcaraz “overrated”, but it definitely foreshadows a bright rivalry

Not long ago Sinner took 2 sets from Djokovic in wimbledon QF..That brought him under world’s attention..But I had been finding him impressive since more than year ago..He has improved hell lot since last year....And that cross court ballastic forehand his latest weapon…definitely GS material , and world will not have to wait much long….

alcaraz is ambitious, intense, and accomplished, but sinner is demonstrating his mental fortitude much more. he already beat alcaraz and nearly djokovic at wimbledon. he once again saves crucial break points and stays cool enough to put down a hungry alcaraz. absolute god mode in those last two sets. i think alcaraz is getting too anxious about the expectations towards him, but sinner just has ice in his veins either way. a balanced game like djokovic with federer-level aggression.
