the usb one isnt working for me, im pluging in the controller with the micro usb and the usb into my pc but no notification shows up and the controller wont turn on
Maybe have a look in device manager for input devices with your controller and see if drivers are installed etc. Maybe it's a dead wire?

Do you know why the Bluetooth settings on the PC have an option for xbox controller, if that's not what you are supposed to use? You would think Microsoft would know their own stuff.

What if you don't see an option to turn Bluetooth on?? I am on the very same page and I can't even see an on or off for blue tooth.. It's giving me the option to look for a device but it's not seeing it or connecting.. ANY help???

I'll do ya one better.
The first time I plugged mine in, it connected perfectly, but for quite a while now (I guess it was due to a windows update or something similar) it doesn't have the popup, nor does the device (controller in this case) appear anywhere in the list of available/connected devices.

I'm doing this by USB cable and it worked fine before, but ever since pairing it to the console I haven't been unable to un-pair it. When I plug it into the PC it was turned off, and it made the usual system sound so let me know it was connected, but it isn't working on my steam games I used another gamepad to play, which I had disconnected because once an upgrade I obtained required the RB button I had to switch to the Xbox One controller, as the old classic style gamepad has a sticky shoulder button making it unreliable for platformers and the original Xbox controller's D-pad is too stiff for 2D games that require precise directionals that I find the control stick awkward using with. The XBox One controller feels a lot better for these type of games as the D-pad is a lot less stiff and more comfortable to press frequently.
Problem is, now that it's paired to a console I can't un-pair it, it detects the controller and begins charging but it still wants to turn on the Xbox One instead of the steam game I have open. I tried holding down the sync button and double-tapping it but neither method works.
Hi! Not really a proper answer to your de-sync question BUT an easy fix for that is just to take the plug out of the Xbox so that when you're powering on the controller it cannot turn on the console, that should allow you to pair it to your PC :) Hope this helps :)

I've tried with my Wireless card's Bluetooth and also a USB Bluetooth dongle and both are allowing me to connect the controller, but will give me double inputs and effectively press random buttons when actually trying to use it to game - any ideas apart from having to use their official USB dongle?

@@wolfofmortis818 Yes, you have to enable steam controller settings, add the game to your steam library and launch the game from steam.

For all you newbies to the Xbox controller, here some things I just learned.
1. It will connect to your PC via cable or Bluetooth if you have Bluetooth capable.
2. You’ll need a USB-C cable if you decide to use wired power.
3. Or you can purchase 2 AAA batteries. Or you may need to purchase an XBox rechargeable battery pack.
Haha no you’re wrong bro the newer controllers do use usb-c but the older ones for “Xbox one” series use the android chargers or whatever not usb-c

@@elchamber well obviously it wasn’t very obvious to anyone who has never bought the new controllers. So when you put must use USB-C cable you are incorrect. Mine clearly takes a micro USB so it was confusing when I read that. I had no idea the newer controllers switched over, nor do I care. You gotta lot of lip on your there pal. Watch yourself
