my first ever barbel came from the ribble and my first double also. love bonsai, tickled trout church deeps shawe arms. all special river beats always will be. ty for your uploads great viewing
Very enjoyable and intresting. You would have to wonder was there some form of a bridge hundreds of years ago which would explain the stones. We shall never know. Learnt a lot there. Thanks.
Good grief, I used to fish this exact spot in the 80's and 90's... best day for chub was August 1990, not a tap all morning on the float looking for chub? Then, the tide bore came ! 20 minutes of carnage ! took me a while to understand what happened., no monsters but happy what I had experienced.
Ya right there pal the ribble was better back in the day when it was the pipeline my favourite spot was the salmon tree...my pb chubb is from here🤣 id love to do a fishing session with you cause you know ya stuff
Near enough opposite the potential crossing place they found the Cuerdale Hoard. The Cuerdale Hoard is one of the largest Viking silver hoards ever found, four times larger than its nearest rival in Britain or Ireland. In weight and number of pieces, it is second only to the Spillings Hoard found on Gotland, Sweden. So you never know!!!
Cooper Trooper it's mental how fast time goes, atleast being on the river bank will help slow it down abit!! I love fishing although I don't get to do as much, hence the reason I'm watching everyone else doing it!! 👍
Ryan Hosick a great way to grow old with a rod in our hands and listening to the movement of the water. Hope you manage to get out a bit more mate. Great hearing from an old friend.
chris hanf thanks for watching Chris, you should definitely try the Gregsons Farm stretch just off the M6 motorway junction 31, there is a service station there that sells the day ticket to fish for 6 pounds. That is a good stretch to try with the upstream stretch above the motorway bridge approx. 400 meters upstream of the bridge is the best spot for barbel. There is a map on the back of the day ticket, fish to the left or right of the farm house, also give Ribchester a go, buy the day ticket for 5 pounds from the small spar shop in the little village. This is a good stretch for all species and very picturesque! I will send you more info like google maps data on any of my social media accounts! Tight lines mate
I really love these videos. Very informative and loads of tips. Could I ask, when fishing the stretch near the M6 bridge where is the best place to park that’s safe and legal. Thanks again for the awesome videos and encouraging me to fish the Ribble. I have a wigan AA card so fish Elston which is accessible by car right up to the bank. Tight lines everyone 👍
Thanks Andy! You can park on the car park at the tickled trout service station for a small fee, alternatively you can park at gregsons farm and fish the salmesbury day ticket available at the garage and you may park to the left or right of the farm yard entry. Plenty of room for 8 cars here in winter and more in summer when the grass is dry. Usually gets 2 or 3 cars only and is 100 yards from river bank. It is also legal to park on the wide foot way on the bridge at the bottom of tickled trout hill A59. I am going to make a video to help anglers on parking and a general guide on the Ribble. Thanks for your support. Much appreciated mate
Piker Biker - Thank you for the quick reply. Very helpful. I’m out today on the Elston Stretch and can’t wait. I’ll have a good look at the parking spots thanks again 👍
Had a bash on the free stretch at weekend.. it was warm for October and the water was low and clear.. we were just past church deeps and we didn't catch a thing. We moved down to melling woods and still caught nothing apart from a 2 inch dace... To be fair nobody was catching on this day even the guys that had been there all knight.... Not an easy river to catch on
It is a little bit sketchy this time of year when temperatures keep going up and down. Low and clear can be a kiss of death for many species in winter. Fishing just after a flood in the same pegs as the river is on the drop will often produce an abundance of fish, leaving you scratching your head thinking where were they hiding last week when it was low and clear. That is what attracts me to rivers, ever changing and challenging. Keep at it and I know you will have a few. I agree, it can be a very hard river. This is why I have the opinion of the Ribble anglers being much better specimen anglers than those who fish much more productive rivers like the Trent, patience and constantly improving their presentation to get a bite. It is no mistake why the last three winners of the barbel masters have all been Cumbria/Yorkshire and Lancashire anglers. Two of which are Ribble regulars.
@PikerBiker thanks for the quick and detailed response' we had a bash after watching your video of the free stretch. but we weren't just the only 1s there' all the good pegs were taken but we will keep trying to land a good barbel' carp or even a pike! It's a good stretch of river and both of us want to catch a wild fish desperately' we fish lodges canals and commercial fishery's but the allusive wild fish is still a box we have yet to tick 🙏🐟
Bruce B i was using the old faithful baitrunner reel and a 2.5tc maver carp rod. Very old rod i use for everything from sea bass to perch and barbel. Thanks for watching mate
Not on UK mainland, never has been and probably will never be as a blanket ban although some clubs ban it. Northern Ireland have conformed with Ireland to stop non native illegal live fish being introduced thus damaging the ecology and the much lucrative game fishing industry
B00MSHIN3R CAPR33 hi mate. Enjoy the River Trent fishing. Hope you get a nice big double. This stretch is between the tickled trout bridge off the m6 at junction 31 Preston central and you can park on the bridge and walk downstream on the tarmac cycle path. Easy to get to the pipe line stretch.... 10 mins slow walk. Just keep walking to find every stretch featured in this video. Tight lines
Nice to see the quality of fishing you have. I'm coming your way via Marshall Hurt's shout out and subscribing. I hope you have the chance to do the same, but if not, keep on filming and fishing!

Just out of curiosity, is this stretch know as “Church Deep”?
jellyfission it is upstream from the deeps! Thanks for watching
I thought live baiting in the uk was illegal?
Not on UK mainland, never has been and probably will never be as a blanket ban although some clubs ban it. Northern Ireland have conformed with Ireland to stop non native illegal live fish being introduced thus damaging the ecology and the much lucrative game fishing industry
Banned in Ireland and Northern Ireland
