you are the HERO we deserved Chris! dedicated to pure R E A L information and depth, thx for your services
Ive not been active much but happy to see the youtube content. See you on stream soon sir!
very entertaining and informative video. answered all questions and grey areas i had regarding gsync vsync ullm game caps and all, great job.
You are a legend bro!
I was just looking how to setup g-sync and best settings and couldn't find anyone to explain it in detail, and then i saw the notification from you and i couldn't believe my eyes, exactly what i was looking for, thanks bro🤝
Keep going you are the best!💪
the effort and time you put into these videos is insane, thank you so much 🙏
Good to see your channel start growing more rapidly bro we appreciate you
Such a good video! I never tried it with v-sync so I'm looking forward to see how it works / feels
Excellent work, keep doing what you do. Great content. Btw I found your channel by recommendation from Polish CS:GO pro player.
Крис, спасибо за каждый ролик, который ты делаешь для нас, это бесценная информация
thanks mate
You're an absolute legend for all that you do!
FR33THY - The only optimization youtube channel that matters. Thank you for your videos, mate. Cheers!
Excellent testing and data here. Really appreciate it!
Also, how did you go about making your latency tester?
Nice video Freethy! always good to have new knowledges
good video mate alot of people dont understand if vsync/scanline/.... adding input lag
amazing video Chris, learned a lot!
Thank you for all your hard work Chris!
Straight legend as always 🙌. Perfect timing for what I was asking you the other day 🤣🤣 but I have so many questions 😬😬😬 . I'll be messaging u later mate lol
Scanline sync, wild! Quality stuff as always.
you’re a legend mate thank you for your hard work and dedication
I've been using gsync + vsync + rtss cap for a quite a while now because of blur busters gsync 101. But it's nice to be sure now what actual numbers of latency are and that it's better to use nvidia cap now. Thank for the great work Fr33thy!
Why do u use anything. Turn everything off in control panel and use in game cap
@@Twongz_does_anything RTSS give smoother frametimes
hello, i have a qs, do you use vsync in nvidia control pannel or in game. also if u use it in nvida control pannel then do you also enable it ingame or it is recommened just to use vsync in nvida control pannel. like enable vsync in nv control pannel and turn it off ingame for every game? ik its an 1 yr old comment but pls reply
@@salilgupta4377 you should turn on vsync in nvidia panel and switch vsync off in game. In general vsync works better and more reliable on driver level than in game.
Pls answer :)
Thank you so much for these vids! Could you cover Destiny 2 Latency? All the streamers and competive folk say to not use Reflex, but I just don't see why. It would be a godsend. Keep it up none the less!
the scanline video we have been waiting for!
thank for all the work u put in these videos its really appreciated
Great video explaining G-Sync/V-Sync with a frame cap.
Another argument, if I recall correctly, in favor of rivatuner's cap (regarding Battlenonsense's video) was that frametime consistency was superior to in-game and driver caps. He argued that a few milliseconds of added latency would not make you miss shots, but hitches in frametime (stuttering) would. What's your opinion, and have in-game and driver caps improved in that respect?
Thanks for all your work and for sharing your results!
this is correct
Great work my guy!
Great video!
Very good explanation. This whole thing is a swamp for non-tech ppl. In game, monitor, driver settings and how they play together with individual systems and games. I used a gsync dell monitor and just capped ingame.
Awesome video, thanks for this👍
awesome video! thanks
hey FR33THY, Another great upload. I was wondering if you'd be able to make a video on process lasso?
Thank you, I didn't know the nvidia cap was better than the rtss cap
thanks man ! god bless you
I’m assuming this is if you can the frames relatively stable at max refresh rate? What if I have a 360hz monitor but it dips to 190 frames in certain situations? Will vsync cause much more latency than if I just have gsync/ -3 frames ull on?
Finally the video I was looking for!
love your passion you put into this! keep up the good work , mw2 gonna be a big W // im using now the vsync ON + gync ON + lowlat ON on 240hz its caping 225hz, much smoother than before i used to cap at 237hz with gsync ON, thank you Chris again! &iWould like to know what the other people here are using?
vsync in nvidia panel?
Yeah man it's so much smoother and so hard for me to go back to uncapped now. When these 1440p 360hz gsync displays come out with new cards (4000 series) all my life problems will be solved :D
Low input lag with good visibility and no tearing!
Cheers mate
with 280hz how much would you limit?
@@andrew-np1ot for 144hz Low latency Ultra 138 fps lok when turned on Low latency 144fps lok
@@FR33THY I have freesync monitor. Should I use adaptive sync on + vsync + anti lag with cap to 141 FPS?
Could anyone explain the input lag of having both NVCP LowLatency mode (ULTRA) + Reflex ON + Boost? I have been looking for info and Nvidia claims that In-Game Reflex overrides NVCP but it's just not true, so?
great work
I ducking love your vids
u are doing a great job for us, thx
What if you're below your monitor's refresh? Say you're getting 150 on a 240hz monitor. Would you use GSYNC/VSYNC in that case?
ETA on AMD version? You've earned a new subscriber btw thank you so much for this type of content
the goat, again
🐐
40:49 Does MW use DX11 or 12 ? i heard the frame limit with llm and vsync work in DK11 only ...
Let's go more videos 🔥💯👌
Great analysis and clarification of the test results.
I would suggest for the mainstream users, what would be the input lag be if their hardware can’t hit above their monitor refresh rate or hit just above it. Eg 144hz or 240, those results would be of interest since the majority won’t be rocking a rtx3090 or 5950x/58003d.
Are you an Apex player and if so what's your smoothest settings for it? I'm desperate here, 360hz 1080p Alienware 3080ti here
more cpu performance its not a supper gpu dependant game
@@brutyfruity
@FR33THY Do you have detailed settings of the nvidia driver and PC optimization in general to get the maximum fps in PUBG. If you don't have it, is it worth the wait? Thanks in advance
Very informative video, thanks for that! I do have one question though - could you tell me how to use the newest NVIDIA driver with the old NVIDIA control panel(like you have)?
i miss you a lot FR33THY, upload more videos pls!!
thx for a full explanation!
I did a little bit of my own testing with Quake Champions and 360 Alienware monitor.
Surprisingly - I got the best results with Gsync ON, Vsync ON, Low Latency OFF in NCP and then Reflex ON + Boost in game.
The game capped to 327 fps, but the latency was even lower than uncapped with gsync on.
what creates the 327 fps cap? is that tied to the limits of the game or is it related to your sync settings + monitor refresh rate? (or is it related to something else?)
@@chasmurphy1227 I’ve learned that it goes to 327fps when Nvidia Reflex in game is enabled. When I disable Reflex it caps at 360fps. But I don’t enable Low Latency Mode in NCP in any of those cases.
Is your V -SYNC also on in-game?
@@wallavalo No.
Hey there, what is your pc specs?
Amazing video you have my sub C:!
Question though, if i dont use ultra low latency and leave it off. and the game doesnt have a custom fps mode. do i leave it as unlimited frames when i cap it in the nvidea control panel. to not double up on limits?
What about allowing Nvidia Reflex to cap? ie in Warzone, Reflex + VSync on automatically caps my. 240hz monitor to 225.
So with Frametime Deviation being a factor into capping FPS, should I be capping my FPS at the most stable FPS or should I just let GSync + Vsync + ULLM take control?
Is there any way to play a multilayer game, and determine what percentage of kills would have gone the other way with
Awesome video as always Chris! What if you want to use the GSYNC on, vsync on and ULL mode in the NVIDIA driver but the game also has vsync setting available, CSGO for instance? Should one set the vsync in the game settings as well? If yes, than should it be set to double or triple buffered in the case of CSGO?
CSGO is so competitive and technical that people get 800 fps on lowest playable resolution just to win. So you have 300hz display then? :D Because any noob on 300 fps even running 60hz has smoother in-game movements.
Hi Fr33thy, i recently upgraded my PC from a GTX 1060 6GB to a RX 6600 XT PowerColor Fighter and i have several doubts which driver version should i use, i saw in AMD the driver makes much difference than NVIDIA, i'm currently using the 22.5.1 version but i'd like to know if there's a method to know which driver version should i use, i saw people using old drivers because of the stability.
this guy is a legend!
thank you so much for this info
Hey @FR33THY I was wondering if you were experiencing any type of monitor refresh rate with g sync, free sync, and low latency on ultra? when I am playing valorant I experience fluctuation within my monitor refresh rate when I set/want it at 240 hz. My setup is a ViewSonic XG2431 with Freesync compatible on and g sync on in nividia settings
Perfect stuff thx💯
You are doing God's work thank you so much!!!
200 hour apex new player here, had a 3 kd on rebirth on warzone 1 was sweaty as hell, warzone 2 came out and its too slow paced for me so I got obsessed with apex, but I've been struggling to find a smooth experience, this video and others of yours will be my last try before I quit, I got to plat 2 at one point, but I can rarely carry and usually up close I lose and can't track very well, I'm a good 1st person shooter so I know at this point its the game and I see the twitchiness. My monitor is the alternate Alienware 360hz g sync 1080p, I sidelined the alienware 240hz 1440p for better advantage but I begin to wonder if I should return to that considering high ranked players rarely have fps over 190, if anyone has insight please pass it, otherwise I'll review this video during cardio at the gym and hope for the best
Hi, Im curious why you are using passive waiting on inside the rivatuner setup settings menu?
Hi Chris good job!!! A tip, I've a 5600x, 6700xt ,2x8 3600 b-die with ltsc 2021 with your optimization for os and gpu, I set warzone ini file with renderworkercount 1 less; the game runs perfect only with a few microstutter in caldera, how would you advise me to set the windows game mode to on or off? Thank you very much for the work you do and the advice you give us :)
what do you recommend for low latency on AMD, should I not cap FPS(92-97% GPU usage) and Enable anti-lag? for better input
In regards to the 2546k
No gsync and freesync
Best to leave uncapped/enable+boost in cod in terms of latency?
Rlly good optimization btw shader cache better on unlimited?
I have a game with 60fps hardcap.
What is faster:
Freesync and therefore getting dropped to 60hz
or
VSync but therefore staying on 240hz?
I would assume in that case the latter better??
Really nice, I'm looking forward to AMD testing. Regarding input lag measurement, what software do you recommend or have you used?
photon emitters. The various metrics used for measuring latency can be extremely misleading. Take for extreme example, you are gettting 1000fps, but those frames are sent to your monitor ~1 second after they occured in the "game world". That would manifest into an entire second of input delay, but a metric like frametime (1 / 1000fps) would make you think your input lag was actually low. Again, this is an extreme example that would never happen, but it portrays a common issue, which particularly can make sync technologies look better than they actually are; You can hold onto a frame to line it up with a monitor refresh, but now that frame is older which manifests into input delay hidden from certain metrics.
That is why the only accurate way to measure input lag is to measure an event in its absolute entirety; that is, the time it takes:
click of the mouse to shoot the gun ------> the photons leaving the monitor of the muzzle flash
Nvidia is known for making such tools for measurement, such as their new one called: NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer
So does it really matter if i play valo on a 280hz w/ gsync enabled + 280 capped or gsync off / no fps cap? i just get 4-4.5 avg input lag anyways
So if I have 360hz 1080p monitor, do you recommend to have gsync and vsync on with uncapped frames?
I may have missed it in the video but say I wanted to cap @ 237 on 240hz monitor for the lowest latency possible, would I just leave gsync on? ULL + Vsync is what caps the fps to 225 right? thanks for the video man love the content :)
Hey Chris, you optimized my pc awhile back. Things are going well! I appreciate the time and effort you put into this video (and all your other ones)! I also have the 390hz acer aopen/firelegend monitor 6900xt, and 5800x. Should I be using freesync and enhanced sync with frames unlimited in fortnite? What’s my best bet? Thanks for your help!
hey blazed doing an amd video soon
but vsync freesync on in the control panel
vsync on in the game
and in game cap 3 under (357)
this is best for amd
@@FR33THY sounds good! Thank you so much man for helping people out. You’re the man!
@fr33thytweaks I was wondering what your suggestion would be for someone that has a freesync monitor instead of gsync. I turned vsync on in the driver and ULL on ultra and capped fps to 141 is that the best I can do without getting a gsync monitor
hello fr33thy, first of all a big thanks for your work! I have a question since im still not sure what to use. Ive got the ASUS ROG PG329Q with 175hz and a RTX3080. In my main game Hunt Showdown i get consistent 155 - 200 FPS. At the moment Gsync and vsync is off, Is that correct? I have never experienced any tearing what so ever. I dont want any lag, im a sweater :-) thanks !!
i think when people say RTSS is the best cap they refer to its buttery smooth frame times even though it has a little bit higher latency, which translates to better muscle memory.
but you might have taken that into account in your video idk, im intrested to know
Thanks for this! I have a 240Hz OLED that suffers from VRR flicker like many do, so I'd prefer not to use it. Would you recommend 235 cap + V-SYNC (not fast) + ULLM?
great vid chris, keep up the good work! do you recommend using gsync+vsync with fps cap in warzone?
depends on framerate honestly!
@@FR33THY im on a 2060Super at 144hrz getting around 135 to 140 FPS (Wazone) should i should i use the 3combo , vync on , ultra low atency and capping frames at 141 ?
I’ve been using this method on my crt and it’s magic! As for games that don’t need much power like retro games “metal slug etc”. I accidentally disabled all my cores on 10600k 5.1hz and omg that and only one stick of ram runs these games beyond crt smooth. It’s Amazing it’s not really for ur crowds game base but if u don’t need a lot of power it’s a great idea at least on retroarch
How did you get Vsync to work with your Elgato capture card? If i turn on Vsync it caps me to 144hz on my main 240hz monitor,
For me Vsync + Gsync + Ultra does no auto cap the fps. The fps still shoot waay over the max refreshrate of my monitor. Does it only work in games that support Nvidia reflex?
looks like it may not in some engines use in game cap under 3 if you can (if reflex isnt in your game settings menu)
Hi mate please also use planetside2 as a benchmark unlike any other game it's unpredictable as players can range from 1vs1 to 99+ on a single hex map. You need to focus a lot on the cpu performance and nic adapter settings in this game.
amazing vid, we need to turn v-sync on in game to? or just in Nvidea settings?
Hey mate, what version of drivrr should i use for gtx 1650? For warzone and valo only, is it my gpu can only run 60 fps? I followed your last warzone video guide full but its till lagging not consistent 60 fps at low settings 1080p so im using 720p with 70-80 fps :(
No issues with latest here
Nice video , I wait for amd version
Hey Fr33thy. What would you recommend for us ULMB enjoyers?
I can’t wait for the AMD version, I’ve always been curious about anti-lag
yeah anti lag really helps for me at a certain gpu usage, yet makes it worse if its a non gpu bound game. if i play mw on 1440p antilag will shave 17ms down to 15! yet on 1080p its 13ms and will make the latency variable or a little higher if antilag is on
This video is going to teach you: ruclips.net/video/N8ZUqT6Tfiw/видео.html
@@sensor there is more to the story than this optimal tech does not go in depth
Anti lag make your mouse feel very inconsistent. I test it on apex at 144 capped FPS, and its horrible.
@@FR33THY anyways, we are waiting an amd version vid from you no?
in the section "override high dpi scaling behavior scaling performed by application" do you need to check the box or is it no longer relevant? Valorant
What ram mhz should i go with Ryzen 5 2600 and b450m? 3000mhz or higher?
if I have a monitor at 144 hz and in the game itself, lock at 60 fps, how much to set lock fps in this case ???
You mentioned how battlenonsense was out of date. When he tested the NVCP frame cap, it provided the most stable frame time, but had higher input lag than the in-game frame limiter. If the NVCP has equal input lag to the in-game limiter, wouldn’t the NVCP be better?
Does stacking frame rate limiters affect input lag? If you were to use reflex to get the benefits in gpu-bound scenarios, while also using the NVCP cap, do you know if stacking the frame limiters adds input lag?
there was a reddit frame rate analysis which i cant find now (of course), he used cap frame x to check grame pacing and 1% and 0.1%
riva and nvidia are pretty equal now
i wouldnt stack limiters tbh
testing other games i have found in game cap to be better than nvcp but it depends on game engine
@@FR33THY ty for the response!

How about hardware accelerated GPU scheduling? The setting menu says it reduces latency though that's a pretty weird claim for what it's supposed to do, also people online are saying HAGS actually INCREASES latency with Reflex on.
loved the video !! but im still need help i have a 165 hz monitor what is the best setting i can use for smooth gaming ??

@@PatDuke_ Yeah man. Some of the stuff he says i already know or used to know, so i can verify hes not just clickbaiting.
you could keep the acer on 360/390 hz and use NDI for screen capture and test results. That is if I understand that you are using a 2nd pc for the screen? Might be getting the wrong end of the stick tho lol.
Im already make cap in game
But what about low latency i should turn it on or ultra ? And from nvidia or only in game or from together?
