As a competitive player I was always adamant about keeping Vsync OFF no matter what and never gave it a second thought, but then I tried the config you recommended with Freesync ON, Vsync ON, and an in-game FPS cap 3 FPS below the monitor's refresh rate (in my case 141 fps b/c 144 Hz) and boy am I blown away by how amazing my games feel. Rocket League has never felt smoother on my computer and I just wanted to say a huge thanks and I really appreciate the effort you put into your videos!
(Also for anyone wondering, my previous config was Freesync OFF, Vsync OFF, Uncapped FPS. I'm top 1% in Rocket League and FR33THY's recommended config feels incredible and I highly suggest you give it a try.)

RX 580 and since I posted this comment I have actually turned Vsync off because it just feels better. You can cap FPS in the TASystemSettings.ini file.
      Steps:
      1. Find the file under: Documents > My Games > Rocket League > TAGame > Config > TASystemSettings.ini
      2. Search for "CustomFPS"
      3. Change it to "CustomFPS=141"

I have a Ryzen CPU w/ Radeon Vega gfx and an RTX 3050ti GPU. Meaning I have access to AMD Adrenaline and Nvidia Control Panel. My question is, is it worth turning on Anti-Lag with Radeon Reflex (in game)? I also plan on capping my fps and turning on freesync. What do you think are the best settings for my situation? A lot of ppl might find this inquiry helpful as well. Thanks!

First and foremost THANK YOU soooo much for what you do and always helping buffoons like me out! Sorry to always ask questions but I already stated I’m a buffoon 🙃. I have 2 questions. 1:) Is there any reason in particular you’re not using windows 11? And 2:) I have the 6900xt, and 5800x along with the acer 1080p 390hz monitor… fortnite is all I play… When I play with the in game frames capped to 390hz or 387hz and don’t experience screen tearing of any sort, should I still use freesync/v sync? I don’t have any tearing playing unlimited either. If you want to run a game where enhanced sync isn’t buggy then fortnite might be a good game to test it on as I haven’t had any issues when I’ve messed around with it and had my in game frames capped to 400 and unlimited. (Just a thought to be able to test out enhanced sync a little more so… 🤷‍♂️.) Thanks again man! Cheers!

Any chance you could do a video on ‘mouse cursor drift’? For a while people dismissed it due to mouse rotation, but if it’s happening on laptops touchpads too, which is absolute positioning, debunks that.
Impossible to build muscle memory when the mouse moves inconsistently..
Also, why is ‘mouse’ the only thing that was removed from windows troubleshooting?…
Keyboard is still there, it’s just specifically mouse that has been removed since w10.

Guys if you had choppy gameplay like all your games feel unsmooth it's not your gpu but cpu throttling. In my case cpu cooler was not installed correctly so try to put best thermal paste like Arctic mx5 or grizzly then make sure everything is tight and balanced between 4 screws. I installed arctic freezer II 420 but backplate was tilted that cause the issue for me.

    I have two questions:
    1) what g-sync monitor you use for g-sync video?

can confirm. with amd gpu best choice for valo no tearing is freesync only, none of that extra stuff + in game frame rate limit. Otherwise you just want to run no sync and FPS much higher than monitor refresh. Sadly valo doesn't seem to let you limit FPS higher than 500 so it's either 500 or uncapped

  • @ghallora

I'm following this and understand it. No fps cap in the AMD driver. Yet, I have an issue with Modern Warfare 2 and the in game cap. I have a 165Hz monitor and when I cap at 162 fps it doesn't work. It keeps going over 165Hz and has tearing. The frame limiter only kicks in at 142 fps yet I'm losing 20 frames I could use. It is obviously an engine problem as it happened in MW 2019 and Warzone 1 also.
I emailed Activision support. Would you have any idea why it isn't working properly? It does this on two different systems I own with different monitors. Both 165Hz.
I want to get the lowest latency. I've been using Chill to cap as that is my only option (when it decides to work yet that is another story). However, from watching this Chill has a lot of input lag.
I might go back to my Nvidia 3080 Ti as with Reflex it works flawlessly.

Hey mate, I am an AMD overclocking and tech enthusiast and I have always been told that you never want VSync on AMD cards activated, anywhere in Radeon Software or In-game.
For Nvidia, however, always disable in-game VSync and inside Nvidia control panel, set VSync to "ON" globally.
I have never noticed a different in using Radeon Anti-Lag with or without VSync enabled on any RX 6000 series card (I own over 3 dozen of them).
I was always taught that AMD never uses VSync as Freesync Pro and Freesync Pro 2.0 are amazing adaptions.
Always set a frame-limit via Rivatuner Statistics Server about 1 frame lower than your capped refreshrate.
I mention this because I am #1 in the world on Stock cooling, Conventional Air cooling, and Closed-Loop "All-In-One" water cooling for multiple AMD processors and GPUs.
Not tryna clout chase or anything. It's purely hobby and I get nothing for it. I mention this because I have never heard of anyone uses VSync with a RX 5000 or RX 6000 series card!
Always been told it didn't matter, just cap your framerates.
I have always been told: Nvidia should set global vsync in control panel and set vsync OFF in EVERY GAME.
AMD Freesync should always be disabled unless you have slow refresh rate (60hz).
Radeon Anti-Lag definitely has a 10-30% decrease in total input latency, though. I love it so much.

I've also got to add that my being #1 for benchmarking and stress testing AMD CPUs and GPUs does NOT transfer over into input latency delays. I have zero idea. Just speculation.
I just like hitting high scores, I don't notice 5ms of added input delay.
      (I have the world's fastest Ryzen 7 1700, Ryzen 7 3700X, Ryzen 5 3600X, Ryzen 5 5600X, 5600G, and 5700G on STOCK/Air/AIO cooling, each.)
(And world's fastest RX 6600 XT, 6650 XT, 6700 XT, 6800, and 6900 XT (before the 6950 XT launched). )
      Should be found on HWBot.

I mostly play valorant and I found how what causes my input lag for that game were 3 things. 1 is installing the AMD x570 chipset drivers (now I only use what is preinstalled in Win11) and once done installing Nvdia driver, don’t touch it trick it (still can play with colors and such). The last one is don’t install Realtek Audio driver, the one pre-installed is enough! My mouse is more snappy
