Drum companies need to explore different methods of stopping the bass drum from moving. You are a genius. Some of us are more about function than looks. I hope a company that claims to care about function gets a hold of this video. Great video!!
I appreciate your kind words! Thanks so much for watching! For me it’s function > looks any day of the week!! As for companies working to stop bass drums from moving, I highly recommend you try out Kbrakes!! Prior to being an artist with them, I bought them and right away could never go back to regular bass drum spurs. These things will NOT move on you! If you check out my video “3 MUST HAVE tools for tour, you will see it’s function and man, does it ever make a difference! Here’s a link if you’re interested 👊 ruclips.net/video/3UoKX91X5F4/видео.html
I'm glad i found this vid. I was looking to replace my 22" that comes with the kit because it was too big for me. I'll try this when i get a second 18" tom. Thanks for the video.
@@Joshstix95 I’d have to agree man! Really fit the vibe of the early-mid 2000’s with the 24,13,16,18 configurations & they sounded even bigger!! That’s rad about the snare you had! I’d love to have a 14x8 matching snare of it! Mine came with a typical 14x5.5!
Totally! Heck, you can even just take the legs off, put it on the the conversion stand and use it right away! Only problem with that is you’re probably only gunna get a bop sounding bass drum out of it because of no dampening in it, and you couldn’t stick a mic in it without a hole, but it’s not to say you can’t have one out front of it! Always fun to experiment with this stuff! 😄
@@ClaxtonDrums I just put up my Pearl Export that I bought some five years ago and never used, and it was loud as hell :p (In a bad way, for me, since I'm now used to electronic drums). But I've ordered a whole bunch of dampening stuff, but am thinking of buying a smaller hihat and snare (12 inch), and maybe a smaller ride (18 seems to be the smallest available) since I'm no longer a metalhead and abhor the idea of playing so loud that you have to wear ear protection :p
if you cant afford a riser or claw hand pedal duck tape 2 books together and put 2 screws in the top where the drum will be resting and the hoop will catch on the screws then cut a slit in the bottom spine book and stick pedals clamp thew it and tighten it itll work just fine .
I came here to see how to attach fest and drum pedal to Tom. You used special tool so this was actually not so helpful for me :/ would be nice to see how to do it without that stand as well also since that is a nother extra piece I got to carry. Looking to have everything attached to the kick
Without some sort of stand, you’re stuck drilling out your floor Tom to add bass drum spurs and some sort of Tom mount drilled into the top to have your toms attached. Really don’t recommend such things by any means. You also would need to buy some sort of conversion hoops to allow the pedal to be attached to it. For what it’s worth, I’d just grab this stand. It’s lightweight, folds up, and is impossible to screw up vs doing all the things I said above.
Sam Alvey I have a 16” floor Tom that I would use. For anyone else that doesn’t have an extra, if you have two rack Toms you could always use the bigger one as a floor, or, maybe the gig only requires kick hat and snare! Many possibilities!
Thanks for the vid. I sometimes play an impromptu set where it’s either a small room or the space calls for a bare bones set up. Keep the content coming! 👍🏻
The shell rests on it, yes, but the point is that from one side to another, you angle the feet so they touch each hoop which holds it in place and keeps it from moving

Cool! Always wanted to get a smaller bass drum if I got back into playing. The Tom sounds great as a bass!
Right on! Now you have a cheaper way to do it since most small bass drums cost an arm and a leg nowadays 🤣 glad you dig it! 🤘🏼
Wow...you mean the floor tom can be turned over and set on a drum throne? The wonders never cease!
Not quite a “drum throne”, but yeah!
Hell man, just use a cajon

Happy you found it and got something out of it! Cheers!
In context with the snare and hats it could easily pass for a 20 inch kick drum! Great vid
Thanks for watching!
Is that a pdp 805?. I had a 14x8 snare in that finish and it was one of the best snares I’ve owned.
It certainly is! Good eye! 😄🤘🏼
@@ClaxtonDrums I wish pdp did not discontinue this series. In my opinion it’s sound better than the concept series

"It's not hurting anything, because it's rubber" Giggity
Great video. 18” kick sounds killer!
Thanks! Sounded better than I thought it would! Pretty happy with the result and have gigged with it multiple times now!
a floor tom will not move no matter how hard one kicks? or will not move after hours of playing?
I played a 3 hour gig with it and it didn’t even budge
Just use a Pearl JG16 conversion kit-way better than the DW over engineered cradle thing.
Tried that one. Great if you have a 16”, but they don’t make them for 18’s...
Can you keep the floor tom reso?
Totally! Heck, you can even just take the legs off, put it on the the conversion stand and use it right away! Does this sound close to an actual bass drum
Absolutely!
Thank you
No problem! 😄
Awesome sound on that kick drum. I'm all about making drums quieter atm :p
Yeah I dig it! & what do you mean “make drums quieter”? That sounds more like a dynamic issue than a kit issue..

@@SmugSuspenders they make high hats with holes in them to e quieter if you need to go that route

The DW 9909 is $380 haha. A metal base with some rubber feet. Makes no sense how it costs THAT much money
That’s fair, but a proper 18” DW bass drum in my case is $1800 so I’ll take this for $380 🤣 I bought mine used and I think I paid around $150
Great video👍
Alex Drummer glad you think so! Cheers!
wow
Pubudu Niroshan thanks for watching!
But now... what do you do for a floor Tom?:( convert the kick to a floor Tom?:)

Danny Tomlinson right on! Glad you got something out of this! Thanks for watching! 😄🤘🏼
You should have red blinking letters that say sledgepad the whole video
Oh yeah? Haha whys that 😂
Cat on 0:14?
What?
Good boi. Don’t think I’ll need this vid bc I play metal and loud is good but it’s still interesting
Astral Doom haha that’s fair! Glad you found it interesting though! Thanks for watching!
No problem brother

You have fortunity enough a 18 inch floor
Matthijs Beute I’m not sure what you mean my friend!
@@ClaxtonDrums oh sorry i have a 16 inch floor and a 18 inch would be better for this trick did you have a 18 inch floor Tom?
Matthijs Beute yea I had mentioned in the video that it was an 18” floor tom. 16 would still work well for this application though!
@@ClaxtonDrums i subbed to your channel
Matthijs Beute I appreciate that! Hope you enjoy the rest of my content!
I have the same kit lol
Nice!! Great sounding kit, big sizes, and really has that early 2000’s Warped Tour vibe! It’s a shame they discontinued the 805 series so long ago!
hahaha exactly. I was playing in like an indie rock/pop band so I was right on brand.@@ClaxtonDrums
@@benmaclean2789 haha perfect!
those feet look like they are on the shell not the hoops to me.
The shell rests on it, yes, but the point is that from one side to another, you angle the feet so they touch each hoop which holds it in place and keeps it from moving
So for around $300 i can turn any tom into a kick....
I paid about half that, but yes! Easiest way to do it without it being detrimental to turning it to a kick for good.
This is stupid and expensive! Its easier to reassemble pedal for cocktail kit, put some clothes inside drum and play
To each their own!
