I'm french and my english is very bad... I've 14 years old and y love this song, i love your voice 😍 In English class we studied Ireland, and especially Skibereen and I loved this story that makes sense ... So thank you for singing it so well

I'm descended from Famine refugees on my father's side - my Farrell ancestors were from Longford, but family legend has it that my other ancestors were from somewhere in Cork. I cannot listen to this song without wondering if my great-great-great grandfather might have come from Skibbereen - if this song is describing some of the things he saw before he was thrown onto a coffin ship and dropped off in a new land that had no love for him. God keep you, Thomas Conboy - may the happiness of my life serve as your revenge for Skibbereen. I will keep you in my memory until the day I die.

My beloved grandmother was from Skibbereen and it is the home of my blood. I felt ad if I was where I should be when I visited. It is a beautiful, magical and herat hauntingly beautiful place. I have listened to many versions of this incredible and heartbreaking song but this by far and away the absolute best and most touching version. I am so very glad to have found it, thank you Don, I feel my darling girl with me when you sing it. I may cry my eyes out but I will forever return to this wonderful rendition of a very special song. 🙏💚🤍🧡☘
