The great Barbara Billingsley of Leave to Beaver fame. A show that was known for its wholesomeness which is probably why they cast her for this part. The most unlikely of people you would expect to do this.
I saw in an interview somewhere that they offered the part to Harriet Nelson (of Ozzie and Harriet) first but she turned them down. I'm glad she did because I'd never seen any Ozzie and Harriet episodes when this movie came out. I had, however, seen plenty of Leave it to Beaver episodes though. I laughed so hard at this scene when I saw it in the theater.
I wouldnt say the reactions were epic, maybe a couple. Ive seen a couple videos from "Just Ask Ash" they are both always so clueless on what is going on in any movie they watch.
They're far more clued in than they'd admit, most of these channels are. He's a film buff who references all sorts of lesser known movies yet has seemingly only seen 5 from the last 50 years and she is a movie actress who has no idea about movies or how they're made? Seems legit... Standard format: He yells "Symbolisms" every 30 seconds (Between 10 clips of "Daddy chill" memes per video) before holding a manic-laugh face at the camera with zero actual laughter coming from him. Meanwhile, she pretends to be sick or scared in slow motion.

I bet most of the reactors didn't know who Barbara Billingsley was, so not sure they got the full effect of the joke
That's what makes it so funny. The Beaver's mom speaks jive? HA!!!
I was reading somewhere that the directors picked her because she was gathering whitest woman they could think of.

Americas Mom.
Of course, none of the reactors know that that is Beaver Cleaver' mom.
This entire movie is a classic! However, this scene and the one where the nun is singing "Respect" to those same guys is epic!
I havent heard Jive since the 80s. Great movie.
Classic movie and don't call me Shirley!
Cuddy say Can't Hang!
Ash talking over the funny parts as usual
and thinks everything is sexual as usual!
I think a lot of these folk didn't get it.
I like the virtue-signaling triggered reactions. You people would never make it in the 70s and 80s.
I think the scene where they order their food is funnier.

What is with the reaction video phenomenon?
You know when you like a song so you play it for someone to see what they think?
That.
Never remotely liked this film
Sounds like a you problem.
then you picked a bad day to give up sniffing glue... 🤷🏿♂️
cut them some slack jack!
