Pretty nice set. Based on the carving of the knight, it looks like the pieces are the German Staunton design. I'd probably protect the board using a piece of canvas or linen of the same size when rolling it for travel. But I do wish with the pieces were more heavily weighted. But on the product page, the total weight including everything is 4 lbs, which is nice for travelling I suppose. Hopefully it will last a lifetime with proper leather care. Sadly, they are out of stock as I write this.

I wish I did, we sent our girls to chess club for a couple of semesters in turn they taught me how to play. Kind of moved away from playing, I need to start playing again so I can dust off the set
@@LeatherHeadReviews my son just turned 5 but he doesn't have that much of an attention yet. I tried doing a chess club and he just hugged my leg and wouldnt go and then i tried teaching him myself and he just has about 2 minutes of attention to devote 🤣
