Weird! I was at USC when Mike Witt threw his perfect game strangely for the last game of the season for the Angels. That would have been right around the time Shaara was writing the book. He even wrote a book called "The Killer Angels" in 174 for which he won a Pulitzer Prize. I remember all the buzz at USC about that perfect game
I have this movie 🎥 on DVD 📀. I still want to get it signed by Sam Raimi. 😢 It is a brilliant movie that illustrates what makes baseball ⚾️ so special!!! And you’ll never tell me that baseball ⚾️ isn’t something very special!!!
Hard to talk for an incredible movie ..and how hard his team played...the great play by geirdano at 3rd to stop a loss can't go unnoticed ..chappy rules in class
When even you have incredible team...it is really a lonely position. ..it is hard to get it when you see a win or loss beside your name ..it is yours entry in the books..and the pitchers dont tell always when they are hurt because they want to suceed and advance the team...the good pitchers at all level bring weird stories with them and add to the sport legendry..and good sometimes doesn't reflect only or by statistics . Hard to explain
anyone else notice how the trainer who is the only other person in the dugout who knew it was billy's last game wasnt smiling when the team ran onto the field
I understand a no hitter is great for the pitcher he and the team deserve all props, but baseball like a few other sports is called a team so why don't people give the other players the props they deserve for making some awesome plays to make it a perfict game? now if pitcher strikes out 27 batters, may never happen I'm my life time, then the pitcher did it all himself other than the catcher calling the game
No perfect game (which this was) let alone a no hitter isn’t without a couple stellar plays and usually one very great play. The pitcher does the bulk, but unless he strikes out 27 he needs his defense.
Why don't people give the other players the props they deserve? Who says the other players get no props? That's ridiculous. No one thinks the pitcher did it all on his own. Trust me, for the rest of their lives every player on the team, even those who didn't even get into the game, will be telling everyone who will listen that "My team had a perfect game."
Mother and daughter watching in anticipation of the whole game, seeing Billy perform
This is such an underrated baseball and even sports movie
It's underrated because they included that sappy love story and cast a horrible actress in Kelly Preston as the co-lead!
I loved it except for the hand injury. There is no way the best pitcher in the game would use a saw in the off season putting his moneymaker at risk.
It is a reminder of those people who made a difference in your life and you didn’t tell them that you love them.
Now with that dam time clock no great moments like this.
This movie just had such magic and Costner was the perfect cast
The cathedral that is yankee stadium belongs to a chapel. Great line. Rip Vince
The Greatest of All Time
I think the line should've been "The cathedral that is Yankee stadium is now a Chapel" imho.
best line ever
The best line. Vin Scully was an all time great.
Can't believe this movie just turned 25 years old! Wow
I remember watching two perfect games- one by Randy Johnson and one by Matt Cain. There is nothing more special than that!!!

RESPECT TO THE GAME!!!
Detroit ALLthe way baby!!!
I love vin scully. Grew up with him broadcasting. Legendary..
Billy Chapel : *retires 25 consecutive batters*
Yankees fan ': THIS GUY'S A BUM.
"Wreck it" is the perfect coach call.
7:01 - Respect given.
One of my favorite parts. Ragging on him all day like a good fan would. In the end he knew he saw history and respected it. Love this movie
Probably my favorite Kevin Costner movie. ❤

Love this movie but did they get ken strouds jersey off the kids rack.
Mixing in a little reality about Larson’s perfect game in the 56 WS ( Called ironically for the Dodgers by Vin Scully)
Ken…wreck it. I loved that line by Augie Garrido

1:51 What are you swinging at? That was a ball, this guy’s a bum!
6:56 He was safe, aw jeez!
My ex and her friend watched my DVD. It's a chick flik disguised as a baseball movie. It's a favorite of mine
Love this movie
J adore ce film, sous estimé, magnifique kostner
RIP VINCE
I will never understand the move to pinch hit ruiz with a rookie making his mlb debut in the bottom of the ninth during a perfect game....
The movie literally said why lol
@@jasonlapiska2441 And its one of the dumbest reasonings I've ever heard lol it makes no sense
I don't scare you at all, do I stroud?
you gotta love sports!!!!!!!!!!!
For Love of the Game. For fuck sake.
Even in the movies I hate the Yankees
Hell yeah!
No way a lefty doesn’t beat that last ball out
He doesn’t look like he can run lol
Great movie with amazing Cast/ Details. even the voice of God in there (Bob Sheppard).
Well, Tigers didn't get that far. But the Yankees advanced to the next round.
Kevin is very old to be playing
I'm not telling you who wins the world series!😊
Which WS? The one in twenty years?

It wasn't just a no hitter it was a perfect game not one batter reached 1st base on a hit error or walk at all for the Yankees.

Are you crazy? Of course they get their props but the pitcher kept it up ALL GAME LONG for the team so yeah that's who gets lifted
You obviously don't know baseball too much. Not bashing you. But 27 up and down about the most rarest things in all of sports.
