The process involves acquiring an RS232 DB9 to USB cable and an RS232 DB9 female to female Gender changer, downloading and setting up OMNI-RIG, selecting the rig type and entering the settings, configuring Log4OM to use OMNI-RIG as the CAT engine, and testing the connection.

Great presentation, this is my obsession, cat Control and a finely synced sdr bandscope, these old girls aren't dead yet, with a bit TLC a well placed tablet with hdsdr running is poetry, 1st was my ts-570, then my ft-891 my ft-2000 ic-718.. ts-480 (raspberry pi)........ but the most impressive was a very old ft-1000mp using a 13" Windows tablet, what an experience, ...... any rig with a com port can be done easily,

Can I work with FT8 this way? Is it possible to work in digital mode with Kenwood TS 870s thanks to this cable? Thank you in advance for the response.

Yes you can. The cat cable will key the 870. But you will need to connect the audio to the pc still.
