  • Have you ever wondered what it was like to be a snooker champion? What it was like for them when they were playing, how they felt about other players, how they got as good as they did and if it is actually possible to be a “natural” or if you have to train for hours on end to be world class. Rob is joined by 6 time snooker world championship holder Steve Davis for an interview episode of the podcast. They talk about everything snooker. From other players such as Ronnie O’Sullivan and to talking about if entrepreneurs would make good managers and the future of snooker.

It's an absolute pleasure listening to Steve Davis. He is very inspirational and I could listen to him for hours, not only is he a true legend in the game of Snooker, he is a believable character. I remember going to see the world championship trick shots in 2004 and how time flies by. All the best Steve and hope the djing is keeping you busy !!!

Steve you're an absolute legend. You spoke about if you had your time again you'd concentrate on positional play that would enable heavier scoring. You had nobody to base that game upon to take it to the next level - you took the game to the next level. It's only natural that sports progress and you were instrumental in progressing snooker and we love you for it fella! As a huge techno and prog music head i'm loving it that you're on that tip too and who would have thought that? multi talent and humble as f**k! nice one Steve !

His positioning was almost robotic it was so good, I'm shocked that he views it as the area he needed to work on most!

Steve Davis is always good to listen to, great manner and very honest about himself. Highly impressive individual whom I didn't like in the 80's so much because he was totally unbeatable.

Ever since I was at school in the 80s I always come home to watch the snooker when it was on.. for some strange reason I always wanted you to win, I suppose I enjoyed the way you played, I was pretty gutted when you decided to retire but I know it has to come to a end sometime, I still love watching the game but not as often as I did..anyway great interview steve and hope you still keep yourself round the fantastic sport that it is!!

Steve's ability at the time was he was the best ever at slogging it out. The game was slower, and much more tactical, and he never lost his head. It was Hendry that brought about the real one visit finish. Mental fortitude, there's really never been anyone better than Steve in his prime.

    I think S
teve has been the greatest ambassador for the game and is so genuine and such a straight shooter when he speaks. ICEMAN, ROBOT, TECHNICALLY near PERFECT, INTELLECTUAL, FUNNY, HONEST, GREAT SPORTSMAN, GENUINE, HUMBLE, NICE GUY, GREAT WORK ETHIC, had an AWESOME MANAGER. All those traits = GENIUS

Hated him winning everything during the 80s. But he is undisputed legend a great great guy. Such a shame he is not heading up BBC snooker coverage. Snooker should employ him as an ambassador of some kind.

steve davis ,such a lass act, highly intelligent and thoughtfull and a humble man to boot, pays credit to his father who he clearly looked to for inspiration and guidance, a man who appreciates everything his parents did for him which in way is the greatest compliment one can pay to him.

I will watch *anything* with Steve Davis in.
He's the best guy ever. He's at the top at my two great loves - snooker, and music - as well as a top DJ, he's a 'proper musician' with modular synthesizers, check the Utopia Strong (the band he's in), and his gigs with Gaz Williams recently.
Lucky enough to have met him twice, here in Ireland. He's an absolute gent.

Steve Davis is absolutely spot on with regards the slowness of snooker being a big part of its appeal. For example, when people upload old snooker frames on RUclips and cut out all the footage of players sizing up the shots it loses so much of its appeal.

Golf has always been associated in the public eye with wealth and exclusivity. Certainly in years gone by, snooker was seen as a little shady, with a hint of the underworld. Dimly lit snooker halls inhabited by ne’er-do-wells. Obviously this reputation has shifted a great deal but it perhaps persists to a small extent.

no he couldnt ....do you think usain bolt has some secret magic training regimen no one else knows ? or do they all do the same and genetics separates them .....i did shot putt at school first time ever and threw further than the teacher ,within 12 months i was english schools champion and went onto be a junior international i did nothing different than every average thrower i competed against ....natural talent is needed
