This episode focused on the western side of Liurnia. While there's no platinum items in this episode we do progress the Nepheli questline and finish the Varre questline. The Varre questline in particular will allow us access to our earliest Sombering 10 upgrade mat and is important in that regard.

He will tell you to go take back his fort. The one u saw him in, in this episode. After that return back to him on top of the ruins tell him you did it. Then go back to the fort. Hopefully he's there for u and ur all cought up

21:48 - Edgar invaded me. I joined the walkthrough late and when I circled back to kill the crying Edgar I found the dead daughter but no Edgar. Had some concern being one grape down from everyone else. This invasion remedied that. Love the content, thanks for the work.
@@sage4670 Yeah, it flows better to get the grape then than to somehow know to reload the game and pick up the grape from the girl so they likely changed it for that reason.
Another tip, when you go to the chapel of anticipation don't run backwards to grab the butterflies! The ground will crumble and you'll die and return back at the belfry.

I think the only rune arc I've used so far is the one i popped with Godrick's Rune to meet the requirements for a spell for an npc quest, I've got a stockpile of like thirty of the things xD
For everyone wondering about doing Varre's quest without invading there is a way. You need to head to Writheblood Ruins in the Altus Plateau, once there you'll find a red summon that will start an NPC invasion that satisfies the quest. You can then head straight back to Varre and get the favor to dye.
theres a grace site directly east of the church of rose kinda hidden on top of one of those broken buildings, near the tree lumps on the map just so you dont have to keep traveling from folly on the lake
I've been playing video games for most of my life, like I started with pong when it was a stand alone you plugged into the tv. Mostly MMOs, these days but.... I have seldom had an experience as completely satisfying as porting back to the start boss to get revenge. I enjoyed every second of slapping him around the way he did me on day 1. That was worth the price of admission.

I know this is super late after this was made but If you hop up the walls at the Converted Tower and open the chest it will just be a memory charm but if you actually do it the way you are supposed to, get the sorcerer head and the gesture, then when you open the chest you get 2 absolutely O.P. Sorcery Spells. A giant gavel and a splash cannon. The Gavel is right up there in terms of Damage for a Sorcerer build 29:50 is where I am talking about. Hope this helps.

Note - If you hadnt killed Edgar, he would take his revenge and kill everyone who killed his daughter. Their dead bodies with loot on them would be in revengers shack. Once you enter the shack, he would invade you. But you already got his loot so no dramas.
Yeah can confirm. I saw Edgar at the site before Cowboy did, talked to him, ported away, and when I ported back, he was already gone so I couldn't kill him. He showed up at the shack and I got all the items, most notably the halberd +8 and the grape. The items that are in the shed when he invades are just 4 raw meat dumplings. Nothing special.
12:10 One thing I just learned If your offline and can't do the duels, go to writheblood ruins in altus plateau and there will be a red summon sign, you can beat him and proceed the quest that way. Only if you can’t do the maiden thing and cover with blood like he did

Waited a few days so I had a chunk of these to watch and I've moved over from my faith build to a different sorcerer instead. Sorcery is 10x the easy mode it was in previous games. On a side note, at the erdtree boss at the end of the vid 2 hilarious moments happened for me. Just after you finished going on about the guardian swordspear I killed 1 just while riding past and it instantly dropped for me... And then whilst fighting the tree guardian I somehow accidently put away my staff so I just punched the tree and it knocked it down for a critical, it was unintentionally awesome 👌.

Watching these guides just make me picture Cowboy reenacting the "combing the desert" scene from SpaceBalls when I think of how he found most of the stuff in these videos.
I know you advised against it for first playthroughs but omg man this game has no directive for new players I spent hours roaming the first area knowing nothing. These walkthroughs have been amazing at seeing everything I can do so I don't miss anything. After this episode imma try and go solo for a bit but ultimately I can't help myself. But thanks to you I beat the crucible knight within my first two days of playing. Great sword gang all the way.
I might have missed it in other videos, but if anyone is confused about how to cast spells with a strength build. You need to buy a finger seal, and equip it to your left hand. Thus being able to cast Bloodflame Blade on your weapon.
Hi cowboy, just a small thing - when you went around the converted tower on the horse, and after getting the memory stone, you dropped down, if you had turned around you would of saw a body with an item - it is a magic grease. Just a small thing but I figured id point that out. Side note: there is also a smithing stone on the church of dragon communion, east of the church right at the edge I love this walkthrough series dude!
Just wanted to point out 2 crystal tears that were missed. One is northwest of the storm hill shack grace. There's a single troll "guarding" it and it increases strength when mixed. The other is north of the demi-human ruins. It is guarded by 3 poison plants, it increases faith when mixed.
@@BulksterShow stormhill shack and head northwest. You'll see the single troll on top of hill behind the ruin with the bridge in the background. The closest to the faith knot is the church in weeping peninsula (not sure what its called but its northern most church on that zone.

I read a little bit about this and killing Gostoc as we did in this walkthrough only prevents us from getting a Dragon Smithing stone, but from what I have read there are loads of those anyway. Personally, I’m not going to talk to Kenneth or Barbarian Lady until Cowboy covers it, just to I don’t screw anything up, as this is so easily done in this game.
That archer summon is great, just gotta realize she doesnt move and needs to never be targeted. She has the longest range of any summon and has extremely fast dps.
Not sure the Nepheli entire quest line. but when Vesuvius, the sorceror at near ranni's, will give you a potion to hand to Nepheli. give it to Gideon so he can cleanse it. If you give it to Nepheli it'll kill her and end the quest line immediately. With the Erudite Astrologer towers. I think it was intentional to be able to sneak in like that so that non-casters could still get the slot stuff for possible spell buffs/support. While the other tower also requires the spellcasting head piece. and let's be honest. People who don't cast spells don't have any reason to be there. PEople who do will use the items required to solve it. And as reward you get some decent spells that only casters can use anyway. Making it a solid design choice imo.
Well just some hours ago we got the 1.03 update and Nepheli's questline has been expanded so the potion might lead to something else or the stormhawk you can give to her will let you get the storm ruler so we have to keep exploring her quest

Teleporting to the first area of the game is where I died in the most cruel death trap in elden ring. I turned back to the cliff to catch some pretty butterflies and the tip collapsed 😅

@@seconD6.77 you just had to pop a rune arc since you have the great rune if you have been following the series it will stay till death, which then you would have to pop another rune arc.

That's what wiki says about Nepheli Loux quest after this part: Prerequisites: Morgott must be defeated and Maliketh must still be alive. Once Maliketh is dead, Nepheli disappears from the Roundtable Hold but will not appear in Godtrick's throne room. You can find Nepheli and Kenneth in the throne room after Godrick the Grafted's boss room where Nepheli will give the player an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. If they are not appearing after doing all the above, simply rest at (not just teleport to) Godrick's grace.
To complete the questline with nepheli, first you have to beat morgott and speak to melina, after that you speak to nepheli, then speak to kenneth, after which you speak to gostoc where you beat godric, after you speak to him rest at the grace there and then they should all be in godric's throne room, speak to all of them to finish the quest.
If i killed gostoc before defeating godrick will nepheli disappear? Because I cnt find her anywhere after I summoned her in godrick fight and I did the same thing as cowboy pls hel
For my mage friends during the snail fight, more knights will summon if you defeat the first one from ranged. It gives you a small window to run in and hit the snail a few times with any spell. I preferred Carian Slicer for this one.
End to Nepheli quests. After you give her the ash. Teleport to godrics grace and go to the throne room. She, haight and the gatekeeper will be there. The gatekeeper has to be alive I believe. Cowboy killed him.
*Spoiler Disclaimer* DO NOT mess with the Stormhawk King Ashes if you want to get Nepheli as a summonable Ash down the line from Seluvis which will be covered later! If you're not sure, she'll still be there to give her the Stormhawk ashes around the potion giving decision if you change your mind then 🤙🏻
According to the wiki to finish up Loux and Kenneth quest you have to rest at goderick's grace site and they appear in the throne room. Talk to them for a reward.
+10 Latenna was my go to when not using mimic, honestly I like the mini strategy of battle positioning with her in field areas/bosses because she can't move so you have to plan ahead when out in the open, if you get it right though she will contribute significantly whilst also never being in danger which sometimes really helps
Just in case yall were wondering, you can get the Troll Knight Sword by killing those troll knights. not sure if it is guaranteed but i got it the first time i killed the second troll around 6:05
Okay, so Nephelis quest has drastically change via an update. U have to find her at the Village Of The Albinaurics, exhaust her dialogue, and defeat a side boss named Omenkiller which can be found on the other side of the bridge above her. Then u have to return to the round table and talk to her, she says she wants to be alone. Then go talk to her dad and ask him about her, then return to her and u can give her the ash.
I'm not familiar, can you elaborate a little? I'm looking for a rune farm I can do. I need to make up for all I've lost. Lol. I accidentally killed the dragon the first time. And the balls are not efficient when you need 15 to level once. I'm not trying to cheat and get ahead, I'm just trying to get back the thousands I e lost to dying. If there were not rune farms I probably would have quit the first time I lost 20k

Around 18:54, you can hear the singing harpies. I'm not sure if this is a guarantee drop, but I've gotten a level 9 rune out of every single one of them the first time I killed it (EDIT: The singing harpies will drop different levels of runes, depending on the areas. The ones in Liuria will drop a level 6)
Man...I'm having a blast! with this game. Alright, so I couldn't resist. I did ruin farm where you shoot the bird and he runs off the cliff and you get 11,000 ruins. Rinse and repeat. I'm a Vagabond and I just started using the staff on my left hand and BloodHound on the right. OMG... it's so much fun to play. These walkthroughs are bad ass dude. Thanks for the fun!
Just found a rune farm point in lord of bloods place online where you shoot far away giant bird he runs at you off a cliff and with no extras to give you more runes it still gives you a little over 11k runes at a time.
thats been my farming spot , if you equip a talisman that gives you more runes and activate the gold bird foot , everytime the bird dies is around 17,500 runes
from what i understand is that Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight should appear in the throne room of gotheric, and that Haight should tell that Nepheli would be the rightfull new ruler
I went ahead and did the Tomb's End Catacombs before I watched this, didn't pay attention to the boss' name and fought the big knight dude. Barely managed to kill him, but did, but the fight didn't end and I was like.... wut? Then saw the snail on the background and was like SHIT!! Managed to not die and killed the stupid snail even after my spirit helpers were killed off by the re-spawned knight boi lmao! What a rush that was! 🤣😂
Every catacombs reminds me of chalice dungeons in Bloodborne. I see all fromsoft games mixed in Elden Ring from DS1 to sekiro,bloodborne and Demons souls.
Latenna is actually a pretty solid summon all the way through midgame when upgraded, she pretty much solo'd astel for me, once you hit endgame her damage falls off and she becomes a bit too squishy if you can't keep aggro on the bosses all the time.
@@ericpitts4151 do you mean you can't find her or she won't become a spirit? If its the second then you first have to find albus in the village of the albinaurics (big cave in the south of liurnia), he will give you part of a medallion, once you have that item she will join you
Yeah nepheli’s quest is intricate and has many parts. If you give the ashes to her before beating Maliketh, youre locked out of the entire rest of her quest. So look up her quest before giving her the ashes. You get an ancient dragon stone for completing the quest.
And if I didn’t kill the height quest guy, can’t figure out if I did or not, he wasn’t there when I got there. Note: I’ve been following your walkthrough from the beginning. Can’t figure it out.
I’m way late to the game and this walkthrough but in this episode and the next one there’s something I discovered and I’m sure you have too by now but maybe it helps other players, especially mages. The tower were you mention the gesture isn’t this one. It’s the one by the frenzy village which is also where mages can get the hammer spell, used by the mage in the academy cave. I hope this makes sense

He forgot to mention, when you go to the belfry to get revenge on multi armed dude, if you turn around you'll see butterflies at the edge of the cliff. Ignore those. Before you get to them, the cliff will collapse and you'll fall to your death. Not saying I learned that the hard way, but experience is an asshole of a teacher.
Nepheli quest just completed for me I guess, after I gave her the ash, I was around the capital and did the sewers, after I defeat Mohg in the sewer’s I rested at the grace and an option to talk to melina , she talked about a certain ending, then I went to storm vail grace for godrick and she and the other npc was in his throne room
So Cowboy thank you so much for the walkthrough. While you are doing this episode, you did miss one knot in the area. It is just north and east of “Road to the Manor” site of grace. Easiest way to get there is from “Northerm Liurnia Lake Shore” site of grace. Go due east until you get to water then just keep cliff wall to your left, then you will go right to it. Watch out for Creeper hands

I'm not a 100% sure but if you havent already killed Edgar, you can try resting at the revenger's shack grace, once you get up he should spawn and invade you. In my playthrough i went back to the place his daughter was at, but he wasnt there so I never killed him then

18:22 go talk to Ofnir after you give Nepheli the Hawk ash. If you want to get a max tier upgrade you get her to be become Elden Lord. Or you can do Seluvis quest line to turn her into a puppet.

I believe that's how you'd have died if you somehow managed to kill the boss there at the very beginning

If you switch off your lantern for the hidden snail fight, the glow that shows it’s position is easier to see.

Waited a few days so I had a chunk of these to watch and I've moved over from my faith build to a different sorcerer instead.
Sorcery is 10x the easy mode it was in previous games.
On a side note, at the erdtree boss at the end of the vid 2 hilarious moments happened for me.
Just after you finished going on about the guardian swordspear I killed 1 just while riding past and it instantly dropped for me...
And then whilst fighting the tree guardian I somehow accidently put away my staff so I just punched the tree and it knocked it down for a critical, it was unintentionally awesome 👌.

I know you advised against it for first playthroughs but omg man this game has no directive for new players I spent hours roaming the first area knowing nothing. These walkthroughs have been amazing at seeing everything I can do so I don't miss anything. After this episode imma try and go solo for a bit but ultimately I can't help myself. But thanks to you I beat the crucible knight within my first two days of playing. Great sword gang all the way.
I might have missed it in other videos, but if anyone is confused about how to cast spells with a strength build. You need to buy a finger seal, and equip it to your left hand. Thus being able to cast Bloodflame Blade on your weapon.

Hi cowboy, just a small thing - when you went around the converted tower on the horse, and after getting the memory stone, you dropped down, if you had turned around you would of saw a body with an item - it is a magic grease. Just a small thing but I figured id point that out.
Side note: there is also a smithing stone on the church of dragon communion, east of the church right at the edge

Just wanted to point out 2 crystal tears that were missed. One is northwest of the storm hill shack grace. There's a single troll "guarding" it and it increases strength when mixed. The other is north of the demi-human ruins. It is guarded by 3 poison plants, it increases faith when mixed.
What are the grace locations called? And what are the ruins called?
@@BulksterShow stormhill shack and head northwest. You'll see the single troll on top of hill behind the ruin with the bridge in the background. The closest to the faith knot is the church in weeping peninsula (not sure what its called but its northern most church on that zone.
@@TrueRMYDRACOARES Thanks I found the strength knot tear! When you are at Stormhill shack with your back facing the shack get on your horse and run up the mountain slightly to the right. The tear is at the end by the cliff past the troll. North bound slight east from the shack

So the quest was not yet implemented ;)
I read a little bit about this and killing Gostoc as we did in this walkthrough only prevents us from getting a Dragon Smithing stone, but from what I have read there are loads of those anyway.
Personally, I’m not going to talk to Kenneth or Barbarian Lady until Cowboy covers it, just to I don’t screw anything up, as this is so easily done in this game.

That Site of Grace navigation tip by hitting Triangle button is pretty cool.
That archer summon is great, just gotta realize she doesnt move and needs to never be targeted. She has the longest range of any summon and has extremely fast dps.
You can use the Pureblood Knight's Medal as a Homeward Bone 🦴
Not sure the Nepheli entire quest line. but when Vesuvius, the sorceror at near ranni's, will give you a potion to hand to Nepheli. give it to Gideon so he can cleanse it. If you give it to Nepheli it'll kill her and end the quest line immediately.
With the Erudite Astrologer towers. I think it was intentional to be able to sneak in like that so that non-casters could still get the slot stuff for possible spell buffs/support. While the other tower also requires the spellcasting head piece. and let's be honest. People who don't cast spells don't have any reason to be there. PEople who do will use the items required to solve it. And as reward you get some decent spells that only casters can use anyway. Making it a solid design choice imo.
Well just some hours ago we got the 1.03 update and Nepheli's questline has been expanded so the potion might lead to something else or the stormhawk you can give to her will let you get the storm ruler so we have to keep exploring her quest

You can farm those imps in the Catacombs he goes to for the Imp Head (Wolf) helmet. It increases your max equipment load and had great stats
Teleporting to the first area of the game is where I died in the most cruel death trap in elden ring. I turned back to the cliff to catch some pretty butterflies and the tip collapsed 😅
Vaati points out if you use the crystal darts on the imps they will actually attack one another, also works on the watchdog bosses too.
Where do I find the darts again and when you say watchdog bosses you don't mean the cat statues do you
the first merchant in Liurnia sells the recipe book for crafting them and yes the big kitty looking watchdogs 😀

@@seconD6.77 you just had to pop a rune arc since you have the great rune if you have been following the series it will stay till death, which then you would have to pop another rune arc.

At the tower at 30:44 there is a magic grease right behind where he lands on the ground.
That's what wiki says about Nepheli Loux quest after this part:
Prerequisites: Morgott must be defeated and Maliketh must still be alive. Once Maliketh is dead, Nepheli disappears from the Roundtable Hold but will not appear in Godtrick's throne room.
You can find Nepheli and Kenneth in the throne room after Godrick the Grafted's boss room where Nepheli will give the player an Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone. If they are not appearing after doing all the above, simply rest at (not just teleport to) Godrick's grace.
To complete the questline with nepheli, first you have to beat morgott and speak to melina, after that you speak to nepheli, then speak to kenneth, after which you speak to gostoc where you beat godric, after you speak to him rest at the grace there and then they should all be in godric's throne room, speak to all of them to finish the quest.

Fighting that snail reminded me of a boss in Bloodborne. The stupid witches in the woods.
For my mage friends during the snail fight, more knights will summon if you defeat the first one from ranged. It gives you a small window to run in and hit the snail a few times with any spell. I preferred Carian Slicer for this one.

End to Nepheli quests. After you give her the ash. Teleport to godrics grace and go to the throne room. She, haight and the gatekeeper will be there. The gatekeeper has to be alive I believe. Cowboy killed him.
I believe this doesn't happen until you kill morgot
I think she doesn't move until one of the later bosses is killed. Morgott maybe? Or Mogh? Not sure.

DO NOT mess with the Stormhawk King Ashes if you want to get Nepheli as a summonable Ash down the line from Seluvis which will be covered later! If you're not sure, she'll still be there to give her the Stormhawk ashes around the potion giving decision if you change your mind then 🤙🏻

According to the wiki to finish up Loux and Kenneth quest you have to rest at goderick's grace site and they appear in the throne room. Talk to them for a reward.
Apparently you have to complete Gostoc's quest (the guy you killed for the buckler) and kill Morgott t9 trigger them moving to the throne room also.
+10 Latenna was my go to when not using mimic, honestly I like the mini strategy of battle positioning with her in field areas/bosses because she can't move so you have to plan ahead when out in the open, if you get it right though she will contribute significantly whilst also never being in danger which sometimes really helps
Just in case yall were wondering, you can get the Troll Knight Sword by killing those troll knights. not sure if it is guaranteed but i got it the first time i killed the second troll around 6:05
Road ends catacombs has been my favorite Dungeon so far i like the mystery of finding the hidden walls and stuff

Okay, so Nephelis quest has drastically change via an update. U have to find her at the Village Of The Albinaurics, exhaust her dialogue, and defeat a side boss named Omenkiller which can be found on the other side of the bridge above her. Then u have to return to the round table and talk to her, she says she wants to be alone. Then go talk to her dad and ask him about her, then return to her and u can give her the ash.

Probably already well known but there is an amazing rune spot where you can grind if you use the pure blood knights medal.
I'm not familiar, can you elaborate a little? I'm looking for a rune farm I can do. I need to make up for all I've lost. Lol.
I accidentally killed the dragon the first time. And the balls are not efficient when you need 15 to level once.
I'm not trying to cheat and get ahead, I'm just trying to get back the thousands I e lost to dying. If there were not rune farms I probably would have quit the first time I lost 20k

Around 18:54, you can hear the singing harpies. I'm not sure if this is a guarantee drop, but I've gotten a level 9 rune out of every single one of them the first time I killed it
(EDIT: The singing harpies will drop different levels of runes, depending on the areas. The ones in Liuria will drop a level 6)

Man...I'm having a blast! with this game. Alright, so I couldn't resist. I did ruin farm where you shoot the bird and he runs off the cliff and you get 11,000 ruins. Rinse and repeat. I'm a Vagabond and I just started using the staff on my left hand and BloodHound on the right. OMG... it's so much fun to play. These walkthroughs are bad ass dude. Thanks for the fun!
Just found a rune farm point in lord of bloods place online where you shoot far away giant bird he runs at you off a cliff and with no extras to give you more runes it still gives you a little over 11k runes at a time.
thats been my farming spot , if you equip a talisman that gives you more runes and activate the gold bird foot , everytime the bird dies is around 17,500 runes

from what i understand is that Nepheli Loux and Kenneth Haight should appear in the throne room of gotheric, and that Haight should tell that Nepheli would be the rightfull new ruler
I went ahead and did the Tomb's End Catacombs before I watched this, didn't pay attention to the boss' name and fought the big knight dude. Barely managed to kill him, but did, but the fight didn't end and I was like.... wut? Then saw the snail on the background and was like SHIT!! Managed to not die and killed the stupid snail even after my spirit helpers were killed off by the re-spawned knight boi lmao! What a rush that was! 🤣😂
Every catacombs reminds me of chalice dungeons in Bloodborne. I see all fromsoft games mixed in Elden Ring from DS1 to sekiro,bloodborne and Demons souls.
Latenna is actually a pretty solid summon all the way through midgame when upgraded, she pretty much solo'd astel for me, once you hit endgame her damage falls off and she becomes a bit too squishy if you can't keep aggro on the bosses all the time.

@@ericpitts4151 do you mean you can't find her or she won't become a spirit? If its the second then you first have to find albus in the village of the albinaurics (big cave in the south of liurnia), he will give you part of a medallion, once you have that item she will join you
Yeah nepheli’s quest is intricate and has many parts. If you give the ashes to her before beating Maliketh, youre locked out of the entire rest of her quest. So look up her quest before giving her the ashes. You get an ancient dragon stone for completing the quest.

@@mazapatero gostoc is the peasant at the gate offering you the back path or open the gate for you. afterwards he's stomping on godrick's head.

I used that mohg teleport for the bird farm.....took me about half an hour to run past all the shit to get to the grace point....worth it in the end
And if I didn’t kill the height quest guy, can’t figure out if I did or not, he wasn’t there when I got there.

Go to Mistwood Outskirts rune and go north along the path he is on top of the ruins. Then travel to Fort Height West rune and he will be in his Fort

I’m way late to the game and this walkthrough but in this episode and the next one there’s something I discovered and I’m sure you have too by now but maybe it helps other players, especially mages.
The tower were you mention the gesture isn’t this one. It’s the one by the frenzy village which is also where mages can get the hammer spell, used by the mage in the academy cave. I hope this makes sense
does contagious furry scale up when the shield is upgraded? also is it a % based buff or fixed?

He forgot to mention, when you go to the belfry to get revenge on multi armed dude, if you turn around you'll see butterflies at the edge of the cliff. Ignore those. Before you get to them, the cliff will collapse and you'll fall to your death. Not saying I learned that the hard way, but experience is an asshole of a teacher.
Nepheli quest just completed for me I guess, after I gave her the ash, I was around the capital and did the sewers, after I defeat Mohg in the sewer’s I rested at the grace and an option to talk to melina , she talked about a certain ending, then I went to storm vail grace for godrick and she and the other npc was in his throne room
So Cowboy thank you so much for the walkthrough. While you are doing this episode, you did miss one knot in the area. It is just north and east of “Road to the Manor” site of grace.
Easiest way to get there is from “Northerm Liurnia Lake Shore” site of grace. Go due east until you get to water then just keep cliff wall to your left, then you will go right to it. Watch out for Creeper hands

The imps in the catacombs are easy. Just block and when their hit bounces off you shield hit R2. This usually opens them for a critical hit.

In my playthrough i went back to the place his daughter was at, but he wasnt there so I never killed him then

If you flow Ranni's questline. It will also progress Nepheli's questline
latenna upgraded is a death turret if you work with her to keep aggro off her once shes upgraded shes pretty damn good

18:22 go talk to Ofnir after you give Nepheli the Hawk ash. If you want to get a max tier upgrade you get her to be become Elden Lord. Or you can do Seluvis quest line to turn her into a puppet.
