There's something SO WRONG that we find our respite in a Brutal crimes show :) But Mike is just funny as heck and enjoyable to watch and to be fair, it's the RARE show that really hits me hard. It's a detached view of people we don't know. No worse than reading crime in the newspapers. But when it involves kids or other defenseless groups, then it gets tough to just let it slide off. But for the most part, Mike is like a teddy bear you hold when you go to bed. And i'm a 54 year old guy :)

@@agirlisnoone5953 not true, if you are not under arrest they cannot detain you, if they get pushy just keep demanding a lawyer, if they ignore that you're laughing because as soon as it gets to trial you can have it all thrown out for ignoring your Miranda Rights.

I love your content, Mike. Every other channel that reviews cases solved or cold, will always have this obnoxious "scary ambience" playing in the background. I gotta be honest, I'm surprised Lester didn't start laughing. That was pure cringe. She made it too obvious that she was bluffing. And he already knew she didn't have anything because even at trial they still had nothing. Because there was nothing lol. A public defender won the first case and got a mistrial lol. A public defender!! That's barely better than representing yourself.
I just wanted to thank you Mike, for being so repspectful when talking about sex workers. So many true crime channels use a particular disapproving tone, or include negative stigma when discussing that a victim was a sex worker, and its so refrshing that you don't. Much love from this SW!

@NattyB Well, we all have to make choices in live. If you can't afford the material things you have in life, then there's at least 2 choices you can make. If a man was in a similar situation and he wanted to make 400K, he'd probably had to resort to some shady stuff as well. Not sure how respectable they would portray him if that led to his death...
I hate it when they say "The seat was pulled back, indicating someone taller drove the car". I'm 5'6 and I always pull the seat all the way back before leaving my car.
Well it's a good tip for would-be murderers. I'm tall, so if I ever murder a short person, I'm going to move the seat up after I'm done. Then wait for my OJ moment. If the seat don't fit, you must acquit.
My mom does this and she's under 5'. Makes it easier for her to get out and in case someone else drives it next. In this case, obviously someone who meant her harm did drive it but other cases are not so clear cut. Hell, a criminal may even push the seat back to mislead investigators.
She did that on purpose, just to screw with him. My best friend is named Les & gets really pissed when anyone calls him Lester. But then again, he’s a psychiatrist at a State Hospital that houses sexually violent predators, and Cho- mo’s are usually called Chester the molester. Which unfortunately sounds a lot like Lester.
I think the others are correct regarding it's a tactic. But I don't think it's to screw with him. Les is a pretty common nickname for people named Lester, if im not mistaken. Most probably his mother and father did refer to him as Les, hence "Les" carries emotional value to him. It was a way to try to get on his good side. "Les.. Dont even say that to me, I don't wanna hear it".. That is how you talk to a child you caught lying, and I think that is what she is trying to do.
It's funny because that's what I have always thought. I cannot believe the number of people I have known that have never discussed this before marriage! It is mind boggling. One of the most basic things. It's as if they gave no thought or talked about their hopes ands goals if life! (Cause for me that would have come up)
Sometimes it doesn't matter even if you do. I was very clear with my spouse before marriage that while I think kids are great, I did not want any of my own. He told me he never wanted kids either. Months into the marriage he said he'd changed his mind because he loved me so much he wanted a family with me. But he's also hinted that he always wanted kids, and only said otherwise because he wanted to marry me and was hoping I'd change my mind.
Finally someone else mentions it. I was like, WTF? Makes you wonder what the divorce rate is with high school sweethearts. Can't be good lol. You're not even the same person you were in high school by the time you're 25.
You should definitely discuss children before marriage, but they also married right after high school. It’s not uncommon for 18/19 year olds to feel very differently about wanting children in their mid 20s/30s then they did as teens.
What would be worse is finding out they don't want kids after you have kids. She did the right thing finding a different partner instead of taking it upon herself to bring a child/children into the first marriage. Definitely a conversation that needs to be had, ideally before getting married. BOTH partners should be on board BEFORE anyone gets pregnant. Birth control is so incredible now, it lends itself wonderfully to family planning.
Brilliant interrogation from the start! Bumble the name and he gets comfortable with your "lack" of information off the bat. Call him Les after he corrects you... comfort and frustration short circuits his thought process. The press hard and he shut's down. Got'em.

@Hydra is any escort an open life, especially for someone with children? Maybe if there were more options for financially stable work for single parents or some laws which protect sex workers instead of criminalizing it, there would be less available victims from those with violent criminal intent.

She's ignoring jurisprudence... why not ignore his right to respect in the court. The court ignored professionalism, social customs, unbiased fight for justice, and oath of office. It's typical behavior of a DA when they have no real evidence, and therefore need to manipulate the jury's perception of the defendants guilt. When evidence is scarce, dramatics and misrepresentation of the truth will suffice. Another disrespectful, self-entitled, self-righteous, authority figure shamelessly exhibiting abuse of power. Another agent of the gov't with a power trip.
And I'm not implying that the guy is innocent, I'm unequivocally stating that the charges against him were not proven... at all... and certainly not beyond a reasonable doubt.
I was anxious for over half of this video before I realized he wasn't going to include it. Definitely one of the saddest things I've ever heard, and irrelevant to the case honestly. This one is a great story, just for the interview tapes. That detective lass, when she says "It should" was just amazing. I thought she was going to headbutt him the first time I saw that tape. Legend.
It’s not how it works in courts, but cops don’t have to follow that same rule. They can lie and try to goad who they’re interrogating in to talking to say something accidentally incriminating. She was hoping he would be rattled enough to make up some lie.
@@jonpray5509 In this case it seems that's how it worked in court too. If the video is an accurate representation of the case they had nowhere near enough evidence to warrant a guilty verdict. If the best evidence the prosecution has is essentially "he might have done it and we can't think of anyone else", that should be enough to cause reasonable doubt.
I can not in my wildest imagination see why he should be convicted. I'm not saying it was not him, but they have no proof what so ever. How can one be judged without any hard evidence?
The timeline, his lack of a reasonable alibi, the use of a burner phone just to call her and her scales in his workshop - while indirect, are pretty damning. Add in his fairly serious criminal record of violence against women and it's medium strong evidence. No murder weapon, DNA, nothing linking him to the car fire besides proximity definitely makes the case weak though
@@blahblahblahblah2837 you’re right. I think he may have done it but the fact that no one can say 100% it was him bothers me just a little bit. Especially when you see cases like this and a person spends 20 years in jail only for them to find the real killer later.

That's what the Justice system has become. Any justice. Any at all. People forget that justice is there to put the victims family at peace. If you're not at peace, they're probably not either. The justice system does the victims families a disservice when they prosecute based on feelings > evidence. But then again... that seems to be the way for a lot of things dun it?
Thank you. I was just going to write a long post about this. Your average every day American doesn’t know shit about the justice system, they watch CSI and think they’re experts. The prosecutors shit the bed on this one and relied on the stupidity of the jury. They didn’t meet the burden of proof, couldn’t place him at the scene of the crime, no forensic evidence to support he committed the crime, no crime scene, no murder weapon, no motive. Just some bunk ass circumstantial evidence. I agree I think he did it too, but I don’t know for absolute fact he did. If I was a juror I could not convict that man with such a weak case against him. And if anyone’s to blame it’d be the prosecution for pushing such a weak case. God people are dumb.
Mike your the coolest. Really like your postings. Better than watching 4 hours of an interrogation and ends like a movie you wished would have ended differently. But I think you do a great job.

I hate how the fact that she's an escort is all everyone says after they find out. She was a mother of three with a crappy baby daddy and bills to pay, she worked hard at many different things before she reached the point of becoming an escort and it shouldn't be what defines her. Hell if I wrote the text for the news, the headline would be "Hardworking mother of three murdered by abusive psychopath", that seems really more fitting.
I thought the same exact thing! Being escort does not define someone. Life can get really hard and people find their selves in desperate situations. Thanks for pointing that out!
Not that it defines her, and she shouldn’t have have been murdered. But she definitely set her self up for something like this to happen. You’re not meeting the best kind of individuals who’re willing to pay for sex. The guy who murdered is a piece of filth. But she definitely could have practiced better common sense, especially with three children at home. Could’ve downgraded her lifestyle and maybe she’d still be here.
I'm not seeing the case here. There is no direct evidence that he did anything. He might have. But a million other people might have. Thats called "reasonable doubt."
Once they find a body, circumstantial cases happen all the time. He’ll get life without parole. The dog, the burning car next to his work, he was a customer, no alibi the night of, wife out of town, he had items of her MLM in his house, wife admits he stepped out the night the car was torched. I’m not saying its 100%, but its 99.9%. You CANT leave a body behind. They are harder to get rid of then people think. Best not to kill anyone. @@isabellind1292 there have been studies into this and body language actually means far less than everybody seems to think it does. It's really a case by case basis. Not every human being has a cookie cutter brain, and thus, two humans can react completely oppositely when presented with the same situation. Similarly, mannerisms and other body language varies from person to person. You can never truly know what someone's body language means unless you know that person quite well. In other words, you wouldn't be able to tell if someone was lying to you or not with absolute certainty on your first meeting. It's ridiculous to assume you could, but media and shows like "Lie to me" and even police training tells you that you can read minds just by watching someone's eyes or... the way they nod!
@@J_Lynn I understand what you're saying. I wouldn't base someone's guilt by the way they nod their head but this man's entire demeanor despite the serious allegations levelled against him spoke volumes to me. And speaking in general about body language, there are times where I believe it says a lot about a person as in the case when someone is trying to project they're crying when there's not one single tear. That is a dead giveaway they are being deceitful.
@erik iverson Hardly could it be used as evidence. I was speaking on a more practical and personal application. If a person is quick to say they "did not" do something, they likely did, to some degree, do that thing that they're denying they did. They're subconsciously breaking their natural pattern of speech.

That Chapter has honestly become so familiar to me, that it's kind of a comfort, similar to what The Office was before it was taken off american Netflix. And there are so many that you can just cycle through and kinda forget ones you havent seen in a while so it's almost like this brand new thing😂
There's something SO WRONG that we find our respite in a Brutal crimes show :)
But Mike is just funny as heck and enjoyable to watch and to be fair, it's the RARE show that really hits me hard. It's a detached view of people we don't know. No worse than reading crime in the newspapers.
But when it involves kids or other defenseless groups, then it gets tough to just let it slide off.
But for the most part, Mike is like a teddy bear you hold when you go to bed.

Can you imagine finding out your partner doesn't want kids AFTER you marry them? Think that would be a conversation before signing a legal contract

Yeah since when did the burden of proof fall on the accused? She was reaching hard.
It's literally impossible to prove the negative, and that's what that cop wanted. Crazy.
I was not impressed with the portion of interrogation shown. Perhaps a different detective could have had better results.

Hearing her Dad choke up... 😭 So, so sad.
He probably did it but I would’ve liked to see some actual evidence of his guilt.
The timeline, his lack of a reasonable alibi, the use of a burner phone just to call her and her scales in his workshop - while indirect, are pretty damning. Add in his fairly serious criminal record of violence against women and it's medium strong evidence. That's what the Justice system has become. Any justice. Any at all. People forget that justice is there to put the victims family at peace. If you're not at peace, they're probably not either. Hell if I wrote the text for the news, the headline would be "Hardworking mother of three murdered by abusive psychopath", that seems really more fitting.
I know right, that’s so sad
I thought the same exact thing! Being escort does not define someone. Life can get really hard and people find their selves in desperate situations. Thanks for pointing that out!
Thank you for saying this.

Investigator: Yes

Michael James - Some people say body language means nothing but of course it does! Also, if I was accused of a murder I didn't commit, I wouldn't be sitting back all blase about the whole thing...he acts like this is no big deal...geesh!
Sometimes the lack of contraction use can be an admittance of guilt, too. "Did not" instead of "didn't".
@erik iverson Hardly could it be used as evidence. I was speaking on a more practical and personal application. If a person is quick to say they "did not" do something, they likely did, to some degree, do that thing that they're denying they did. They're subconsciously breaking their natural pattern of speech.
Dropped my Mindfulness Meditation in the middle of in breath to get myself to this video. I've been waiting to exhale until the video loaded. Yes!
The nod says it all "Did you do it" " No I did not" all the while nodding his head up and down. You gotta love Psychology. 💘
Things my Tuesday needs:
A field finished being plowed
A glass of whiskey
That chapter
...at least one thing is checked off the list
A fat bowl of some Blue Cheese
@xirsamoht x 🤣🤣👍
Sounds like a good life!
Unfortunately I live (unhappily) in the city. I can't wait to get out of here.
@@atmywhitson I was born in Chicago and grew up in New York City. Now I live on 2 acres surrounded by corn field. Though the transition may be terrifying...the escape is not only possible...but entirely worth it. Fight for it.
The defense attorneys sound like middle schoolers giving half-assed presentations to the class lmao
She really did 🤣
omg ... I was thinking the same.
Just terrible!
true
Haha... I think it was just her voice, and she also looks young. The points she brought up are good though.
Yes. Very unprepared. How very lazy.
Imagine a parallel universe, where Bob Ross says 'lets paint some happy little trees' and just squiggles loads of '3's' everywhere 🤣
Hahahahahaha!
Bwahahaha- niiiice
When she leaned in and said “ it should “ was awesome , like right out of a movie
Police work does not always attract the smartest people, more often those who need to wear the uniform.
Wait lol, "awesome" and "right out of a movie"? Were you being sarcastic? I mean, I was thinking the same thing, but not in a good way. I was thinking, holy shit, she's watched too many movies. In fact her lean in was so awesome the guy got to go live his life for 5 more years after it.
@@reignman30 ya I mean she set that up so dramatically like it was scripted , so the moment she did that was jist pretty cool
