The 2024 Honda Passport TrailSport is a no-nonsense, spacious, and durable midsize two-row crossover, with the TrailSport trim constituting about 30% of its sales. This trim is designed for enhanced off-road capability and ruggedness. In its 2024 update, it features some real off-road improvements, although elements like the skidplate are more cosmetic than functional, being made of plastic without recovery points or a lift kit. The most significant update for this model year is the inclusion of new General Grabber AT sport tires, enhancing its off-road performance.

then why does the passport cost MORE than the big brother?????

Hey @paulpellico3797 that's a great question and one that had me stumped until I dug a little deeper. You can read the full notes in my written review on CarGurus (linked below), but the gist is right here:
The Honda Passport operates in the no-man’s land between compact crossovers and family-friendly three-row, midsize options. As such, it looks a bit overpriced when compared with a Honda CR-V or a Kia Sportage. However, because the Passport starts at the EX-L trim level rather than Honda’s traditional LX base trim, it also costs more than the least-expensive versions of larger, seven-seater SUVs. While the three-row 2024 Honda Pilot LX starts at $38,465 (including a $1,375 destination fee), the two-row 2024 Honda Passport opens at $43,275 (again, including $1,375 for destination).
That’s not an apples-to-apples comparison, though. The Pilot LX comes standard with front-wheel drive (FWD), while the Passport comes standard with AWD. The LX trim is also less impressively equipped than the EX-L. Shop for a 2024 Pilot EX-L with AWD, and the starting price jumps to $45,875. Now the Passport’s price starts to make a bit more sense.
      Thanks for watching!

I got my 22 trailsport 6 months ago, the dealership already wants me to trade it in for a Pilot. This is the first time I don’t want to trade this in, unless it’s for another Passport Trailsport. Don’t want a Pilot. In love with my car.

My wife and I, both in our mid-50s, particularly appreciate the "old-school" layout of the Passport, which was a key factor in our decision to purchase this vehicle. In an era where distracted driving, such as texting while driving, is a major concern, we find it counterintuitive to see so many manufacturers increasing vehicle settings via touchscreen, like the VW Atlas Cross Sport. Being able to adjust frequently used settings such as temperature using well-placed, familiar knobs or buttons not only makes it intuitive but, in our opinion, safer and far more functional. Touchscreens can be fickle to operate, causing drivers to take their eyes off the road, and the cost of a replacement screen, post-warranty, can be prohibitive. We also find some touchscreens to be too large, extending well above the dashboard and, in our opinion, looking a little out of place. We are not looking to have an iPad Pro mounted to our dash. That said, we admit the Passport touchscreen is on the small side, but it tucks nicely into the dash and does what it needs to do. Additionally, the engine, albeit an old design, provides a level of reliability and predictability to ownership, giving us peace of mind in our purchase. Choosing to buy a 2024 model ahead of the much-anticipated redesign in 2025 was a very intentional choice on our part. I appreciate your easy-going, candid approach, production quality, and the wealth of accurate information you provide in each video. Looking forward to seeing more!

I'd like the Trail Sport edition if it had the same makeup that the Pilot has... full steel skid plates underside, 10-speed automatic, front recovery hooks, 10.5" screen, and hill descent control.

    Amazing review as always!
This car has gotten really expensive with very little new content to justify the annual price increases.
I have a ‘23 Passport EX-L (base) model and I thought that was too much at the time. I cant see paying for trailsport or the new Black edition at this price.
The naturally aspirated V6 is bulletproof, smooth and powerful. Honestly its the main reason I bought this over a CRV. And I also liked NOT having a CVT transmission.
But the interior space is so dated and you know they will update it soon making this feel even more dated in the very near future. Wired carplay, drab hard plastics makes the interior so ordinary. Practical yes, but not at all special or inviting.
I will keep my ‘23 Passport but Honda could have done so much more here in ‘24.

Nice review as usual. Only thing is I do not like midsize 2 row SUVs now because compact SUVs have gotten so massive inside that there’s hardly a difference in passenger room and trunk room between the two classes. I’d rather save my money going for the compact SUV.

@@KNRS927 The new CR-V with the Turbo isn’t as reliable as a naturally aspirated engine.

    • @KNRS927
      @KNRS927 6 месяцев назад

@@Doc1855 the turbo has been around for 5 years so thought Honda figured it out. But point is, in my eyes, you’re better off going to a compact 2-row suv like a rav4, crv, forester, outback (priced closer to compact) and saving your money considering the price gap between compact and mid-size 2 row is a good amount, but space in compacts is almost as much as midsize SUVs and they get better mileage. For high 40s, you can get an Acura rdx too.

I have one and the orange trim offsets things a bit. It also has a dark orange tint blended into the plastic trim inside all around. There are aftermarket trim options out there for the interior.

    • @Doc1855
      @Doc1855 5 месяцев назад

@@coffeecomputersandmore2300 But why would I spend $40K for a vehicle and then have to pay an additional $3K for an interior color that I prefer?
Every automaker since 1990 has made Gloomy Gray , Charcoal Gray or Boring Black the standard interior color.
I remember when people could choose different interior colors for no extra costs.
During the 70s, 80s and early 90s people could choose between, Gray, Brown, Tan, Blue, Red, and Boring Black.
Now 90% of Every vehicle on the road has Gloomy Gray or Boring Black interior colors.
My 2011 Ford pickup had gloomy gray and boring black interior colors and the “ALL NEW” Ford Maverick has the SAME interior colors as our 23 year old truck.
When I bought my Forester, I had to buy the Touring trim just to get Brown interior.
I wanted to buy either the Sport or Wilderness trim, but Subaru only offered Gray or black.
I don’t know where you live, but in my area of the world dirt is tan or brown and those colors show up like crazy against the gray cloth on the Sport or the gray Vinyl in the Wilderness trim.
When I bought my wife her Outback, I purposefully bought her an Outback with Ivory interior.
We simply refuse to be like all of the other dead fish floating down stream like everyone else.
It is a proven Fact that when there’s civil unrest, wars and rumors of wars, unstable economic conditions, people flock to drab, boring, dark colors, But when the economy is stable, the world is at peace over all, there’s civil rest, then people Run to bright cheerful colors.
Seattle is the Suicide Capital of the USA. The skies are normally gray, the vehicles are Silver, Gray, Charcoal Gray, or Black. 60-70% of houses are painted Gray with White trim. The interior colors of vehicles and the interior colors of homes are drab, dark, depressing Gray. Heck even tube socks are gray.
It’s no wonder why so many people in Seattle are depressed. Everywhere they look is Gray.
It’s no wonder why they commit suicide.
Our 11 Ford pickup had those depressing interior colors so I had it reupholstered in Red with black trim and stitching to match the custom 2 tone paint. Our truck was used when we bought it and it happens to be Silver, so I had it 2 toned in Red metallic, so now it’s Silver over Red.
We’ve gotten many compliments on the interior colors of our Outback, Forester and our pickup. Why you ask ? Because it’s different. It’s not like everyone else. It’s an individual choice.
My Ford Mustang convertible was bright metallic Red with a Tan top and Tan interior. Everyone thought that it was a beautiful car.
My old Miata was Red with a Tan top and Tan interior. Everyone thought that it was gorgeous, as it was.
In 2017 we bought 1/4 of a mountain in north central Washington state and finished building our dream home in 19. It sits 1/2 way up our property into the side of our mountain.
We painted it a cheerful yellow with white trim.
There are 9 families who live on our private road, which is 5 miles from town (25 miles from the city). One of our neighbors who lives at the bottom of the canyon floor complained that our house is painted too cheerful and looks too welcoming. She owns 2 bars, is drunk most of the time and her potty mouth would make a trucker blush. When she complained about the color of our house, I looked at her house and replied, Well it’s better than Gloomy Gray with White trim, kinda like Yours and looks just like the other 6 houses on our road. She told me to F off and I wished her a happy and good day.
