The first time o saw it on mine I also panicked really bad! Now I just use the clay bar every year together with a good flying rust cleaner and it's easy to remove
Just got my 1st white car a few months ago & had been pissed about this every time I wash it. Didn't know there was stuff like this out there!! Solid video dude! Owned black cars my whole life & thought I was about to catch a break...at least I know I can get some of it off. Thanks for making this
I thought my paint was permanently stained and never connected it was brake dust. I used Rustoleum Rust Dissolver gel spray that I had on-hand for door hardware restoration. No chemical smell :) I used a soft scrub pad for any tough spots. 13 years of brake dust spots gone on my Pepper White MINI! Amazing!
Same bro. I started thinking this was a defect from the manufacturer and got pissed. Leveled my thinking and looked it up, I was wrong. Great video and appreciate the knowledge
Dude I’ve got a white Chevy that’s having the same problem. Had no idea this was what the issue was. Definitely picking some of that stuff up!! Thank you
Now it makes sense on how I got it! I just went from a car washing service and after that I went to a fastfood also. There was a traffic along the way so I must have gotten it from the car that was in front of me. And moments after, the rain poured. When I got home that's when I noticed that there were already tiny spots of rust on my front hood only 😿

Iron remover is great. An acid wash and clay bar is way better, topped with a polymer or wax sealant. Just be easy with the clay bar. Too rough and it will scratch/marr the paint.
@@0780marco I believe it's either hydrochloric or hydrofloric acid. Aka, wheel cleaner. Be wise to the dilution and set time. As it can and will burn paint and glass if applied too heavy or too long.
So my daughter got mad one day and decided to sling her keys on a lanyard along side of the door of my Rogue. It left some slight chips in the paint and now it's rusted in those few areas. Will this work for that? I'll def need to follow up on getting some touch up paint and clear coat afterwards.

Could this treat a tiny speck of actual rust to metal? I have a white Kia we just purchased. We found one tiny dot that's oxidized about the size of a pin head. I was thinking there must be a product to remove, then cold touch up paint. A body shop will need to sand a good size area and disturb so much factory paint for one speck to repair.

Most of the flecks of iron don’t actually go down to bare metal. It’s just the iron from the brakes that sticks to the clear coat and then rusts. So once you clean the oxidized iron off it’s clean again with no specks.

Lol they're on every car you've owned and will be on every car you own. We should be more worried about how much brake dust we breathe ??? Radon, cigarettes, brake dust ...
Claybar will not work for removing rust/metallic particles. These metallic particles are extremely difficult to remove by conventional washing, and attempting to use a clay bar or other physical process risks dragging the metallic bits across the clearcoat, scratching your lovely white finish.
For whatever reason ive noticed toyota/lexus gets them the worst, jeep, honda, and fords ive not noticed its near as bad, i think it must have to do with their clear coat
It is brake dust, kind of. It's actually referred to as rail dust. If your car or truck was transported on a train that's where it came from. When the train hits the brakes (metal wheels on metal track) it creates sparks and they fly up on the cars. If your car or any car around you creates that amount of spark from applying the brakes, open the door and jump! I have some friends that work at the Ford plant. That's how I found out. It will come off, you can rub it off with your finger, but it always comes back. Ford polished my truck about 10 time up to 36k miles. It came back and I took it to my friends body shop and he repainted the truck. I still have it, still looks like a new 2006 F 150...
