@@MetalDetailer sorry to hear. You might try a can of CataClean, I think that's how it's spelled. It seems to have worked for a while.

Yep pretty much all of those will cause decent amount of issues. Ive replaced purge valve, valve cover with pcv diaphram, other small leaks, cleaned the catylitic convertor, oil pressure sensor due to same leak in harness. Shit doesnt end… good luck to everyone. These are poorly engineered motors

How did you clean the cat? I let it soak in soap and water and hosed it down as per Scotty Kilmers fix but the code came back. Didn’t work

@@haccoon5458sometimes it's not the catalytic converter. It could be other issues. Could be fuel injectors, could be spark plugs could be a leak in your exhaust.

I just recently had this and was overdue on my registration renewal. Need a smog and was thinking of changing the o2 sensor.
Said f it and erased the code and it passed lmao
Turns out it because i was pumping Chevron gas cause i get $1 of a gallon thanks to work and wasn’t going to make it to fill up and went back to 76 (my usual gas) to fuel up and after that i got the check engine light.
My car didn’t like the switch hahaha lights been gone for a while now.

    Was it stalling

Never stalled on the freeway or at a stop light but I didn’t come across when my traction control light came on and it was hesitating over 2000 RPM number one spark plug went bad and the boot blew through so it was grounding out the spark

Mine has been stalling but only on start up. Rpm’s won’t even budge when I push on the gas except in neutral they do. It’s a strange car.

I have same engine in a 2020 Trax poor shifting loss of 100 miles per tank run to the dealership they said the turbo was blown that use a smoke machine smoke was coming out around the throttle body so I highly doubt that's what actually it was but it was that same p420 code they did put a new turbo in it and it does seem to be working properly but and the other hand I believe that something else

you are suggesting a list of parts canon, shoot one at a time hope it will help. I would say you might be better off to get a scanner and start to diagnose, find the problem and fix it.

You have s ovet boost, you change the CAT, it did not work out, you then blame the CAT. You really need to pin point your problem befote shooting parts at it.

Long story short, it was the oil pressure sensor that leaked oil back to the ECU, which was causing different faults to occur.
First, the car was taken to a GM dealership; they recommended the cat to be replaced
I went to Rock Auto and got myself a cat, but it didn’t work. In the meantime, I noticed a crack in the turbo housing underneath the bypass gate. Maybe that’s what caused the over-boost. Further checks, intake, manifold, etc., found worn-out parts. Yeah, I replaced them. The car has 198,000 miles on it, still running strong. Check your oil, pressure sensor, and temperature sensors. For some strange reason, they break through the seal oil, or any freeze finds this way back to the ECU. Good luck with your findings on your car before changing parts.
