I just discovered this guy. I am doing a huge rabbit hole of everything from him,.. he seems such a great cool guy,.. this interview is great. His videos are so fun and amazing. Donny Benét is a super star.
My wife and I got to see Donny with Party Nails in Toronto in February. We spoke briefly and he was gracious enough to join us for a photo. He's a great guy, and an outstanding musician. We'll be there to check out whatever he comes up with. Perhaps another collaboration with Kirin?
Blimey what a wonderful fellow. I was just introduced to his music a couple of weeks ago and it's bloody genius - what a wonderful find. Incidentally I see now Giorgio Morroder's selling his LM-1 on ebay for just shy of USD $40k - that put things into perspective. I couldn't agree with the previous comment more - Donny Benet deserves all the success in the world.
Donny Bennét is my most listened artist in 2020 on Spotify. I love the 80's vibe, fantastic bass lines and synths he's got going. He's gonna be big one day I'm sure. Thanks for the studio tour Don! 😉 It was super interesting, and I hope to see you live one day! Maybe at Roskilde Festival here in Denmark, maybe someplace else. If you do come near by Denmark, I'm gonna get a ticket for sure 😄 Your music is fantastic man, keep it up! 😄
Only just just discovered this guy last week after hearing on a local radio station in perth. . FUCKING awesome stuff. Was listening to his stuff on youtube while i was painting the laundry walls. Made it heaps better.
"My Rhodes that Dad found at Vinnies for 40 bucks" FUCKING WHAT. I'd love to own a Rhodes or Wurli, but there's either zero for sale in the whole country, or when there is, they're always many thousands of dollars, and usually still need work done to them, and are on the other side of the country. I've never even seen one in person.
Do you know the 1980s 'DMX' drum machine made by Oberheim? They also made the budget-oriented 'DX' to complement the DMX. I was offered to buy a DX owned by _Huey Lewis and the News,_ but I had no need for it. It always puzzled me why they bought the basic version. Since then, someone told me you should always buy gear that has "a history" if you get the chance.
Love your music Donny. There's more great Music Man Bass Players - Tony Levin from King Crimson, Pino Palidino, Paul Denman from Sade's band, Justin Chancellor of Tool etc ... ;)
$200 for a jupiter 6?? omg, usually i'd be sending hate but it couldn't have gone to a better person, benet has made the absolute most of that bargain!
I'm trying to listen to Donny but I keep getting lost in his eyes. The man is seduction personified. Also, I could listen to this gear talk forever. That Lin drum was so important to the 80's sound.
I tried to communicate with this guy about buying his Jupiter 6 when he put it up for sale, he couldn't have been more rude and dismissive... he replied with thumbs up emojis following various questions, then when I asked if it was still available he just read the comment and didn't reply.
I like Donny and his music.. but i am kinda surprised by how empty some of his discussion is.. this is basically 47 mins of someone boasting about the deals they got years ago.. it all has to do with value... this is the opposite of a John Maus interview for instance.. there really is a lack of thought here. I'm sure Donny would be incredible to see live, and his music stuns, but its just a little disappointing, but not entirely unexpected from a person with a revisionist discography that faithfully reproduces the sound of a particular era. There is no innovation in his music in other words.
Except he writes and plays everything himself. His songs are great, fun, and his grooves are great. His bass playing is fantastic. This is real music compared to most of the crap released now. I think that's quite innovative .
then you don't know what innovative means.. it means originality/novelty. everyone who home records does all layers themselves. His bass chops are stellar, but they are not original. It's all just funk pastiche. @@bestofjoy
Love this guy. Supremely talented, doesn't take himself to seriously. He deserves all the success in the world.
Himself "too" seriously
C'mon bruh
I like to call it Donfidence.
How is he taking himself anything? How many of him are there?
Donny Benét, national treasure.
Worldwide treasure you meant
Yeah those of us who aren’t Aussies don’t get to say that!

Huge Donny Benet fan. Such a refreshing take on a vintage sound.
Donny nails the style, he’s such a down to earth dude.

Cool! It would be a pleasure to meet him he looks like such an upbeat guy. He could turn your frown upside down in an instant.
The Don is a living legend
Every soul needs a piece of Donny.

Brilliant. I'm not even a keyboard player and I'm enjoying listening to you guys.
Donny's webcam seem to be nearly as retro as his synth gear
240p 4eva!
Donny is phenomenal
Tongue-in-cheek disco could be a genre

Donny is carrying sounds that haven't been heard forever. He's a genius, I hope he makes music till the end of time
What a beautiful man.. love The Don!
Great interview! Loved it. Thanks for this :D
Got compared to this guy recently so i've checked out most of his stuff. Cool guy, nice 80's feel to the music. Just how i like it
For me your music is very indicative of the 80s and early 90s and i love it.
It may be indicative but it's also vindicative, not sure if you knew that.
Love the Don, the music and personality, plus I'm also fascinated by synths, R & B , funk , soul .
Absolute legend.
I'm so saving g this gor tomorrow at work. Love to the Don!
Awesome chance to get to know Donny a little more. Incredible aray of synth history in that room and nice arsenal of basses! Loving Mr Experience!
Love this!

DONNY you're an amazing singer man, don't down yourself!
Loved this :) Wouldn't hurt to add 'interview' to the title for SEO
What a nice man
I fucking love this man
The Aussie Sebastian Tellier!
Donny Legend
I don't want you to leave me on the coast of Santorini!!!
Donny knows his schtick is goofy..... but he can play like crazy! Have fun!
glad I found your channel! I think you should have a bigger inset screen for the interviewer.
Check out his new album Mr Experience!
we need to acknowledge our own more often.
Donny should talk with french singer Klaus Blasquiz (ex-magma) who's also a total vintage old keyboards geek and collector.
Donny has a US tour coming up 2024 - check him out!
I never knew of this guy..very cool 🤪🤪🤪😁

love this guy =0)
any Donny Benet teeshirts out there
За Донни всегда лайк!
I stumbled upon him several days ago after eating an edible. I found myself questioning reality.
what was the answer?
Love your music Donny. There's more great Music Man Bass Players - Tony Levin from King Crimson, Pino Palidino, Paul Denman from Sade's band, Justin Chancellor of Tool etc ... ;)
The old Maton bass headstock looks like a Goya Panther or something...
Ted Lasso of music
I think he is a good singer. Sometimes sounds a bit like matt johnson from the the.

“Bass player by trade” his playing actually might make him honorary American

he’s australian
Can't understand a word. Even turning subtitles on doesn't help.
"i have the second & first, only 500 made, it's very expensive" in the first 20 seconds... fuck me synth nerds are pretentious
He stated a fact.
Donny Benet King of Australia

someone sounds jealous
I’d like your opinion on his mustache or fitness regimen. . .
