- Mark Sievers , 51, stands trial in Lee County, Florida allegedly orchestrating the murder of his wife Dr. Teresa Sievers, 46. He got friend Curtis Wayne Wright Jr., 51, to do it, and this killer got another man, Jimmy Ray Rodgers, 29, to help, prosecutors said. Wright and Rodgers ambushed the victim while she was supposed to be home alone one day in 2015 after she returned early from a family vacation, authorities said.
As far as prosecutors is concerned, Mark Sievers is the last man they have to take down to get justice for Dr. Sievers. Wright flipped, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, and agreed to testify against his alleged co-conspirators. He testified against Rodgers, who was charged with first-degree murder, and convicted of second-degree murder last month. This defendant was also convicted of conspiracy to commit murder and trespassing.

So true, I mean- he must have never watched any true crime. It never goes off quite like they picture it. Anyone with a low enough IQ to sign up for the job in the first place- is obviously going to mess it up royally. I really cannot fathom that he thought this was going to work & his conscience would allow him to proceed forward with his life and look at his daughters every day. What a greedy, nasty, vile piece of garbage. He deserves everything he gets & then some.

Was he thinking how he wish he could go back and just live the life he had? Was he thinking how he should have hired a 'real' hit man? How bad his new cold room and roommate is going to be? Maybe how his girls are going to have no mother or father now and know dad is a killer? How he should have testified after all and maybe that would have been different (it would be worse, but maybe he thought he could have charmed everyone)? How he should have engaged the jury more and acted like a human being instead of writing all the time? I would assume those tears were about himself, but only he knows. A true creep.

The victim’s family has been through so much I hope this brings some sense of closure. Finally saw some real tears from Sievers but they were for him not what he did.

My prayers are with the family of Teresa, including her children, who are now without both parents through no doing of their own. The jury obviously saw through this most despicable of human waste. Now you have plenty of time to just sit and write on your note pad, Mark Finally, we see a little emotion with a quivering lip, but only because he feels sorry for himself. Judge Kyle is a good man..great and fair courtroom manager. Now it's up to the jury to give him the stiffest penalties possible under the law.

I think defence counsel can take care of that too. It’s all part of the service. He did a great prosecution opening and never looked back. My highlight was his motion of acquittal.

Well now we know what a GENUINE display of emotion looks like from Sievers. So much different than the "tears" he tried to cry for the wife he had murdered. I hope Teresa's family and friends can finally have some semblance of peace and start healing themselves back into their forever altered world. What a terrible shame.

My heart and prayers and with Teresa’s family. Especially her daughters. Her family’s faces were so relieved and thankful (yet tired) to that jury when they were being polled. I am so incredibly happy for this verdict.

One good thing. She had such a wonderful close family. Even though her daughter wrote a letter asking that he not get death penalty, the judge gave it anyway. The kids were not orphaned. Their moms family will more than protect and guide and love those girls. I’m so glad they have that. I know they are traumatized. But I’ll bet they’re doing ok. ❤️

I think State did a phenomenal job and specifically the Assistant State Attorney Cynthia Ross’s prosecution tactics was one of the very best performances I have seen in a long while. She sealed everyone of any Possible cracks of doubts that defense created. Older age & being this sharp is amazing! Kudos to her👏👏👏👏 Judge also was very fair.

I see this over and over, again and again. A couple are done and it's over. Instead of taking their losses and moving on, greed gets in the way of rational reasoning. This is usually the outcome and the guilty party ends up with nothing and ends up losing their freedom, and both lives are destroyed. Unreal how stupidity and greed can win time and time again.
