6 Guitars I Love But Never Play! Why Do Certain Guitars In My Collection Collect Dust?

- In this video we take a look at 6 guitars in my "collection" of guitars that I love, but for some reason rarely, if ever play them. All of these guitars are excellent instruments and I love them, but for some reason they get little to no love in comparison so other guitars that I have bonded with better. Maybe I have simply forgotten how good they were? While making this video, I was reminded at how nice they are and it has inspired me to pick these up once again and start playing them more. Have you got any guitars in your collection that suffers the same fate as these? If so, why? I hope you enjoy the video. Please subscribe!

Me too! Everything over 2000. I don't play! I play my cheap guitars! Go figure? Thanks Marty 🤘
Just looked it up...Jay Leno has over 181 cars and 160 motorcycles. Why not? It brings him great joy. Guitars are the same thing. I'm 64, have played 100's of gigs but at this stage, I'm a recreational player now, it's cool. Once in a while I buy a guitar because I have an affection for them...I still have guitars from when I was a teenager. Far worse things we can spend our money on.
I can always count on Marty posting Saturday and Sunday vids. Love the channel Marty
I never play one of my most expensive guitars. A guitar I always wanted, 1960 reissue Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul like one of my idols Gary Richrath. I actually bought it at Anderton’s and carried it through London and had to take it on the plane home because they couldn’t ship it back to the US because of the endangered Rosewood neck. It’s a great story to go with the awesome guitar. I hit the Kossoff “A” with added 5th fret “A” on the B and E string. I don’t know what it’s called 🤣😳. Perfect!
I currently have 20 guitars last week I had 21 but my guitar tech offered me 3 times what I paid for so he kept it the trick for me is I keep 2 or 3 guitars out and rotate them all the 2 I’m playing this week I put away or send them out for setup so you don’t actually see them for a while and play other stuff not neglecting any of them 😎
yo Marty..Starting a new channel...Im shooting for 50 subs...lol...I love your channel brother...Tulsa has a VERY active live music scene..I love the tele copy....if ya need my address to send it to me just holler..haha
If you want that tele copy, you'll have to fight me for it. I've got to tell ya, I can't fight, you've been warned...
I checked out your channel quickly, from the bio alone I sub'ed, I think I'm going to like your stuff...
The V and LP are by far the best, Marty! You’ve gotta start playing them… glad you took the pickguard off the LP. Beautiful figuring! 👍🏻
Why is it so interesting to watch a video of a guy showing off his guitars? IDK, but it is. Maybe it has to do with Marty... he just makes it interesting to me... just his calm demeanor maybe... he's just so soothing to listen to, lol. That Les Paul is a thing of beauty. Have you ever done a video of your entire collection? If not I would love to see it Marty.
Thanks man! No video on my collection. I like to break it up 😃🎸
I have four electric guitars and two acoustic guitars , right now I'm really enjoying my SG.
BUT I play all of them because I dont want the others to think I dont love them...LOL
I like your lemon les paul !
SG's are great. Love mine too, the cover a lot of ground and sound nice! Thanks man! 😎🙏
I only have 5 guitars left at 58 yeas of age, they are so unique to each other I cant slim down the herd anymore, nor do I want to. i do have a few in parts, that i plan on building. one is a mini Strat that I took apart, I had put a regular neck on it as an experiment, in the late 80s. i don't own any Frankie's. i was thinking of making the little guitar a Frankie, just to be different. love what you showed us today.
I have a 1991 V just like yours. Love it. Play it once every 6 months.
Currently My Favorite Guitar that I'm Playing is the New Model "Tom Delong Strat" Identical to yours in Surf Green. I love this guitar and sadly I haven't played my others much since I Bought mine. As soon as i saw the title of your Video I said to myself I guess I'm not alone in loving guitars in our collection, but haven't played them in awhile just collecting dust.
The burst is incredible. Love LPs too. Gorgeous, love the lemons.
Great idea for a video 🎸 Must be fun living in Nashville 🎉
I'm color blind too. Not to bad, but I can't really see some brown, green, red shapes and get them mixed up. Only discovered this in my adult life. Now I realized why painting class at school sucked so bad for me, haha.
Enjoyed the video! I was up to 21-22 guitars pre Covid, all USA made. 4 basses among them. I’d get into one particular guitar and look over and get “guitar guilt”. Sold, traded and gifted and now down to 5 electrics ( LP-Strat-Tele-Es-335-Gretsch, 2 acoustics,2 basses)
Much happier and dare I say focused! No guitar guilt and when into a particular model, creative ideas ensue!! Less is more I’ve learned over 40+ yrs of playing! Cheers!✌🏽❤️
Enjoy your honesty. I would like to see more gigs. I’m sure others would too.
The Les Paul and V for me. I have a 2014 Traditional Anniversary Edition Les Paul that I’ve only played out once. And now occasionally at home.
I love the look of the Wiggy. I’ve never played through one.
Bought and sold many but there has always been a core group that I won’t part with
I have an 80s Yamaha super strat that I rarely play. It was my first guitar. It has Yamaha's version of a Floyd rose that I'm not the biggest fan of.
I usually am playing an Ibanez PS60 (with upgraded pickups thanks to your tutorial) or Firefly Tony Iommi SG clone
Wow that Les Paul is amazing. Really good looking 👌
I love the unburst, the best. And then the fly in the right behind. Ick wish I could afford those. But I can't crack that, but those are really pretty guitars.
I like your. Natural fly and v too
That Les Paul was absolutely 💯% beautiful !!
I had that problem with my V as well. Two things I would suggest one either go to a skate shop and buy some skateboard, grip tape and cut a piece and put it on there and it definitely will not slide off your leg or to go to a sporting good store and get some tennis racket grip that rubbery stuff. It’s about the exact same width as the V part. Either one of those two should solve your issue worked for me.
Send me the V i will play it everyday 😂, that Les Paul is beautiful ! You have some very fine instruments
Dude!! I love that V and 900.00 is great deal. I always tell my wife just 1 more.
Very cool video and I totally agree being in the same boat. I love collecting gear but am often asked "how much do you play this one or that one etc" It is true....we are all sick. LOL
That Les Paul is stunning!
I force myself to rotate the hurd . Makes it fun and brings back the memories.
Im heading to Nashville in November (love it there). I hear a place called Bowie's is a great place for rock bands. Do you recommend going there?
LP without the pickguard looks sharp!
Nice Hoovies Garage shirt!
I love his Channel!
My favorite of what you don’t play is the LP. What I don’t play is the Ibanez RG550 (Genesis). Excellent guitar but the neck is super skinny. I can’t get use to it but try every now and then.
Cool video. I have some that don’t get played too. I guess a lot of us do. lol.. Anyway, so you’re a P90s guy? In your opinion, what is the best P90 pickup?
Trhank you! 🙏😎. I'd say The Duncan Jared James Nichols noiseless.
Dang! I figured thar Warmoth was long gone by now. Do you remember that I tried to buy it from you years ago?
The unburst is my fav but I'm also an LP guy. I have probably 12 guitars that I just don't play and should consider selling but I just never get around to it.
I have several guitars I don’t play often. Some are A Harmer USA Standard 59 burst. Love it but it’s a case queen. I have a Bill Crook Custom made in West Virginia. It’s a telecaster Bill built in Maroon with reflective paisley paper.
I have an Epiphone Les Paul I bought in the 1980’s new. Never bonded with it decided I was going to trade it off OR do something with it. I ended up in 1995 taking it to concerts having it autographed. Mark Collie was the first. Others were Charlie Daniel’s, Loretta Lynn, Roy Clark, Travis Tritt, Little Jimmy Dickens and Montgomery Gentry.
Others in the collection are Budweiser Bow tie guitar and the Busch mountains guitar.
I also have a matching telecaster & American Strat in a maroonish red.
Kramer Kline with the Statue of Liberty and fireworks on it from the factory.
I'm the same Marty I've got 12 and there are those that don't see as much love sometimes I mull over selling them but I don't need to the market isn't the greatest anyway I try and rotate through them I have the same feelings about flying V,s I just can't sit with them I don't like them between my legs sitting the neck position feels all wrong but I love the way they look the white 70,s Gibson is so cool out of yours the 2018 V and the 60,s Les Paul need to be played cool episode man 👏👍🤘🎸
Now you should do the Amp version
True! 🙌😎
I love that LP, the top is fantastic. You did so good on that one. With you R8, R9 and R0 I see why you don’t play it.
I have a distain for guitars without tone knobs. I'd rather have the option! I know that many people are a big fan of Eddie Van Halen style guitars but, its like selling a car where the windows won't go up or down. I just picked up a Chinese made Bullfighter LP (the last one on amazon) I passed on it fearing it might be a return, I have fallen in love with it! All except for the pick guard screw that scratched the finish after playing it. Your V & LP are very NICE!
I mainly play my G&L Tele these days. Kind of ironic because when I first started playing as a teen in 80s the Tele design and vibe didn’t appeal to me at all. I have a nice 2016 USA Fender Strat that lives in its case. Strats have always intimidated me…sounds like a weird thing to say but maybe it’s all the tone options. Maybe it’s because it’s most expensive in my collection and I want to preserve it. I rarely play it.
Between guitars and heads I'm jealous as hell 🙈🙉🙊 👊🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 good on you wish I had the$$$
My problem is I dont want to ding them. I play my beat up guitars more because I have zero worries about damage.
The Gibson flying v is definitely a keeper.
The 60s Les Paul is really nice. It's the only Les Paul that I feel comfortable playing because of the slim tapered neck.
Lost about 30k worth of music equipment, plus the house, car, ect because of a relationship back in 2013.
I've just recently started to get a few guitars and amps back in my possession, but haven't been able to get the desire to play.
Life is cruel sometimes, and makes the decision of parting with your instruments for you.
All I can say is love them while you got them because you never know what tomorrow may bring.
I have the same 2020 unburst 60s LP and it’s my most played guitar 😂
Some people collect toys, and never play with them. Collect stamps, to only put them in a book, stick it on a shelf to collect dust. People collect shoes they never wear...
If you have a Passion about something, you tend to Collect that thing. There is a reason you wanted it, it has some meaning to you, or sometimes it goes up in value. Some times, they're just "conversation pieces"...
1st guitar, I kind of like the darker green, the guitar looks Great. But the weight. I feel ya about the age thing, and no thanks to a heavy guitar, my poor back...
The 2nd guitar, Love it. There's something about the "Super-caster" that is so visually appealing to me, and yours is a great example of it...
3rd guitar, looks cool, but I get the limitation of sound. But, if that's what you're after, perfect.
4th guitar, not my taste, I'll be nice and leave it there. Hey, we all have different tastes.
5th guitar, I've never owned one, only played 2 I think (long time ago). But they have grown on me, I like that red with the white pick-guard, and the head stock. Looks cool.
6th guitar, Yep, it does look great, I like the way the sun-burst or (Un-burst) seems to change when you move it and it gets different amounts of light. I love LP's, but I find them too heavy.
So, as you asked, guitar 2 hands down. The pick-ups you have in it, Looks Amazing, and like I said, that 'Super-caster' look just does it for me.
You have a great collection, nothing wrong with that.
The LP, thank you.
The Noventa may be limited, but it looks amazing! And as a fellow color blind man, I can assure you that the V is black. (My color blindness isn’t even that bad, but I thought it was black until you said it wasn’t!).
The last one duh make a video with that guitar killer Les Paul sounds😊
The V and LP are sweet. The other 4 I have exactly 0 interest in, I can see why those don't get played.
I used to play UNO with a colorblind dude. He had to ask once in a while
What's the story with that funky looking Peavey amp behind you?
It's the Wiggy. Dweezil Zappa model
@@Ranch5150SkinWalker That's a rarity I would say. Do a rundown of it sometime.
Hey Marty love that flame LP 60's. I just bought a '50s Goldtop Standard for a steal ($1600), and thought I would deal with the thick neck..but I just cant get used to it.
Are the thinnest neck Les Paul's the 60s model? I have heard that the older Traditional models are thin as well. Thx!
Right now you may have trouble selling that first guitar for 150:) cheers!
The Les Paul is my favorite...
Hey Marty your Warmoth guitar super Strat is Almost a Tom Delonge style
Hey Marty, whats up ?
The heavy quilt... why are two springs straight and two angled ? Have you tried all straight ?
Possibly those springs or the arrangement sucks.
Hows the fit of the neck in the pocket ? Sloppy ? Tight ?
Screws for neck tight ?
If none of that is the issue, maybe its the nut.
Are you sure the relief is right ?
I wish I was closer, I bet i could set it up, or at least figure out what's going on
Good luck buddy
I have one now that i had issues similar to what you say untill I replaced the R2
Ditto. I have 50 but only touch 2
I have a B&G that I love and it plays amazing but it sits in the case too much
Some of those Squire guitars play like butter. And others don't. Some of those Squires are better than a strat in certain ways. Not all of them. Just certain ones have that feel and touch.
Not playing ALL of our Guitars is normal. We get accustomed to a certain "feel" and every guitar feels and plays different.
I wish I knew how to play guitar. I have one that I won but it stays in the case
Give them to someone else who would Play them. Or
Donate them,
Show off..😁.just kidding...👍
Fun fact: People look 54% cooler playing a Flying V
Yeh, I gotta agree!
Not! Strats are way more cool. But only if you play cool stuff.
@@richardelg4412 I'm sorry sir but there's no scientific evidence to support your claim. However it has been proven that the upside down strat is 3X cooler than a regular strat
2 minutes later 😂
first viewer btw
Bunch of braggers!! I keep my collection the four or five guitars cuz I have to play every one of them everyday so if I had more than five guitars I'd never be able to sit down and eat dinner!!
V
You remember mars music in Nashville?....I bought my 57 strat there...still have it.
