Awesome review I've been on the edge on if it's worth it to spend $80 on that dual SD reader or not. If it's only reaching close to 5 gbs, do you think I should just go with the sd/microSD mobile reader (3.2 gen 1)? That's listed up to 5Gb/s (625MB/s). My workflow is just personal, (prograde v90 card) so I'm never on a time crunch. And if that one could reach Max speeds up to pretty much the dual SD card, I don't see what the difference is.
Why the cable is USB 3.1 Gen 1? And not the same? USB 3.2 Gen 2? I placed an order a while ago this "ProGrade USB 3.2 Gen. 2.0" But i don't know about the cable what USB 3.X Gen X it is. 😢
iPhones can use SSD nowadays. Even EMMC on all my tablets are much more reliable and SD cards failed at some point, partly thanks to EMMC using non FAT type file system. Camera manufacturers still think card shuffling is ok. SSD are getting cheaper but cards are getting more expensive.
First thought was the same I assumed you were on USB 3.0 . Even still I am here because I got a Kinston dual UHS II card reader that does full speed on 1 card but with 2 it drops to 40MB/s and 150MB/s...
That magnet will damage your files, no ? I hate the idea of a magnet... can I remove it ? Also, I have a huge headache finding a fast SD UHS-II card reader..... I get 180 MBytes/s with a Lexar reader... I don't think I can find anything worthwhile that's faster. You are right to complain about mediocre gear... thanks for your concept of expectation... it is fair for us to expect. Great clip, Nikos.
Yeah I was concerned with it too but it will be fine. You could remove it or demagnetize it. Angelbird makes them without the magnet but is sent with a magnet sticker I believe. This is the best one I tested and did not test the Angelbird one. Again, most of these companies say it is a 10Gbps connection but in most cases it is shared between the two slots or it won't reach more than 7-8Gbps
Magnets will damage Spinning Hard Drives and floppy's. They write by using a head that magnetizes a bit for a 1 and un-magnetizes for a 0. SD Cards and SSD's do not use magnetized bits. They are a solid state system that turns the bit on (1) or off (0). That is also why they are much faster as there is no mechanical parts.
I have the same card reader and same SD card.... I get 42 MB/s when transfering video to my PC... Connected to a Z790 MB via USB 3.2 port, I9-13900K, 128GB DDR5; however, I get a message from Windows 11 that "Device can perform faster when connected to USB 3.0" WTF
hi Nikos, i don’t know if you noticed but it says writting instead of writing… just saying… i’ve subbed and liked just because of that human error thing.. lol i like your style
lol thanks for pointing it out. My spelling can win awards bro lol. Totally missed that and I watched it over so many times haha. Thanks for the support!
Prograde V90 256gbs vs Sony Tough V90 256gbs vs AngelBird V90 256gbs! Which is best? I need to buy two cards, which uhs ii is superior? Price doesn’t matter, which is superior
Cool ! You are very good at explaining the Pros and Cons Nikos!! Laszlo Montreal;
Thanks bro. I appreciate the comment
Have you tested the OWC Atlas Dual CFexpress + SD Card Reader vs the ProGrade Dual reader. Great review of the latter btw. Thanks
Hey thanks. I didn't test the other two. I ended up gettign an R5 and bought thunderbird cards so got their reader to upgrade cards

If the price doesn''t matter i go with AngelBird v90 SDXC. Other good options is Sandisk V90 SDXC.
