I always find myself coming back to this performance. Something about it is comforting, but also kinda haunting. Really feels like a fitting theme to the tragic end of Nirvana.

It is a very punk version, extremely badly played, that's why I love this version though. Never heard of it before. I only know the one in the studio where Cobain's playing drums while Dave Ghrol is on bass, and Novoselic on bass.

The reason that the song seems to jump is because they cut out what he originally said in it which was when he said he was the black sheep of the family he originally also said how he couldn’t hold a job and they put him out and that he was on the street when he was sixteen. It use to be on with it but obviously “someone “ didn’t want that much truth public might make “someone” look bad so it was taken out.

I was just watching this Nardwuar interview with Terry Jacks, and they talk about this cover and Cobain's interest in Jacks. It was pretty interesting to hear both Jacks' and Krist Novoselic's take on it. Apparently "Come As You Are" was inspired by a combination of two of his other songs. I never gave Terry Jacks two thoughts, but that definitely made me look into more of his stuff.
