Come and join me for the rest of the journey!
-------------------------------------
Movie Summary:
In a dystopian future, the totalitarian nation of Panem is divided into 12 districts and the Capitol. Each year two young representatives from each district are selected by lottery to participate in The Hunger Games. Part entertainment, part brutal retribution for a past rebellion, the televised games are broadcast throughout Panem. The 24 participants are forced to eliminate their competitors while the citizens of Panem are required to watch. When 16-year-old Katniss' young sister, Prim, is selected as District 12's female representative, Katniss volunteers to take her place. She and her male counterpart, Peeta, are pitted against bigger, stronger representatives, some of whom have trained for this their whole lives.

FINALLY SOMEONE WHO UNDERSTANDS PEETA !!! I'm glad you liked the movie, can't wait to see your reaction to Catching Fire, best book/movie in the franchise !
Everyone keeps praising it as if it’s WAY better than first I believe yaw lol
Coming soon ! 🙏🏼 thanks for watching !
Katniss was in a unique situation- her mother had a breakdown when the dad died, and Katniss became “Mom” to her younger sister. That’s why she volunteered when no one else had.
Especially since district 12, in it's 73 years of running "The Hunger Games" only 2 victors have won the game. In the 10th year (The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes) and Haymitch in the 50th. And both of those have been luck not skill (per se).
Anyway what I was trying to say with that is in 12, tribute is basically implied with death. Do for someone to volunteer as tribute is them basically volunteering to die. Which is why they gave Katniss the 3 finger salute out of respect.
@@readaholicgirl_5 they should’ve had said a she though
@@readaholicgirl_5 I think her mom was actually too old to volunteer I mean she was actually 35 or something when the book started
I love how she goes "I can't imagine if we had our own Hunger Games" and his immediate reaction was "It's gonna be us two chosen and you bout to die" 🤣😂 The savagery
Hey lol somebody has to go 🤣🤣👀
@@mrflickswatches What's sad is that this "Hunger game" actually happened in Japan in the 80s or 90s, I think the show was canceled mid season, not sure though. It's really sad and unfortunate.
Katniss volunteering for Prim and Rue dying break me every, single, time.
Prim’s death breaks me every single time I threw my book when I first read her death scene and it took Peeta (who was severely traumatized himself to bring her back)-amazing
The books were written to teach middle school students about politics and war in school. It was not anticipated that they would be turned into block buster movies. Scholastic Press is the publisher. The author has another series of books written for younger students the Overland Chronicles that she wrote first.
Oh dang, I hadn't heard of the Overland Chronicles!! Have you read them or would recommend 'em?
@@jamiec3372 yes just remember they are deliberately designed to be less scary.
@@gailseatonhumbert I will absolutely keep this in mind, thank you for the heads up!
Overland Chronicles is great!
Explains why its the best written YA war movie, given how most others just end up romanticizing war, and not actually focusing on the politics
You should definitely give these books a chance. You get to learn everything going on in Katniss' head and see everything from her perspective. They're not super long and, since they're written for young teens, the writing style makes for a quick read. I blew through all three in a couple days, though I'm admittedly a fast reader. Great reaction!
After watching a movie I read all three in an all night binge 😂
its crazy to think that if clove (lethal knife thrower) had not got cocky and brought up rue to katniss and just killed her straight away instead, her or Cato (blonde guy) would've won the games.
The offer of 2 victors from the same district being allowed to win would never have been given if Snow hadn't have told the game designer (forget his name but will never forget that beard) to handle the hope that he wrongly created.
@@paulcurran4786 Seneca Crane 😁
I don’t know if you’ve seen the movie, but the girl you looked so mean/evil the whole time, the one you said looked familiar, was the main character in the movie Orphan. She was younger in it but when you said “she looks evil,” that’s the perfect way to describe her acting.
OH THAT'S WHERE I'VE SEEN HER BEFORE!!! It's been driving me nuts but I never thought you check her IMDB page. Thanks, my friend.
22:55 - Yes, Rue's death was really sad and impactful. Rest in peace, little queen.
Here's some infuriating info about this character and this movie: Back when this movie came out, there was a lot of dumb drama about Rue and even Cinna (Katniss's stylist) online. Apparently, many fans hated the fact that Rue was African American in the movie, even though she was literally described as being black in the book. In fact, she was actually described having darker skin!
It was the same with Cinna, but most of the angry fans were vocal about Rue. I still remember some of those racists comments and wish they were called out.
I'm glad you guys enjoyed the movie regardless, and I'm sure you'll enjoy the next movies.
I loved her character as well as the actress who played her 🤍🙏🏼 very important character in this first movie. That part actually hit me inside
I also hate that her screen time was so short. In the book there was so much more depth to this friendship.
Geez, why do we even care that there are some racists out there who reveal it online? This isn't Heaven, or some kind of utopia -- and it will never be. Read the dumb comments if you will, but just move on and don't even acknowledge the idiots. I mean, do we really CARE what they think?
@@10heidi82 her and some other characters’ screen time was short due to how difficult it is to make a book into a movie. They have to keep everything straight to the point so the movie isn’t too long. As far as I recall from the books, this is one of the few franchises that did fair justice to the books, and I’m really glad they turned out the way they did.
@@10heidi82 have u seen the deleted scene of her talking about her crush next to Katniss in a sleeping bag it was so cute they should have kept it in
In the book the mutts take out Peeta's left calf and because Katniss used an arrow on his leg as a tourniquet he lost his leg and got a prosthetic. Also Cato was mauled by those mutts all night and Katniss took the arrow she used as a tourniquet to kill Cato in the morning. She killed him out of mercy. If you think this is good Catching Fire is going to BLOW YOUR MIND
Don't forget the mutts were the other tributes
@@odgr13 yes, I did forget that. Been a while since I read the books
In the books the dogs they sent in here genetically engineered to be the fallen tributes. Katniss looked one of them in the eyes and recognized it as one of them. Also, in the end Peeta almost had his leg ripped off, not just a flesh wound. When they were beamed up there was an emotional scene where Katniss tried to get to him but they rushed him away for surgery. He actually ended up losing his leg and had to have a prostetic one. Also, they put the berries in their mouths and spit them out when the gamemaker announced they both won.
In Hawkeye Clint literally says "That's Katniss Everdeen."
(Not so) fun fact that I haven’t read in the comments: the first time you enter The Hunger Games (12 years old, Katniss' sister's age), your name is in the fishing bowl only once.
As each year goes by, your name is in more than one paper (13 years you have 2 papers with your name on them, 14 you have 3 and so on; until 18 when 6 papers have your name on them). So each year that passes you have more chances of being picked (hence the "May the odds be ever in your favour” quote).
You can also choose to put your name in more than once in exchange for food or supplies, that’s why Gale says his name was in 42 times.
Loved the reaction & subscribed! Can't wait to see you react to Catching Fire!
Wow that’s wild and thanks for watching ! I’m ready for catching fire too we’ll be watching it tomorrow finally ‼️
Omg, rue has a special place in my heart. And her death breaks my heart every time. And it really drive home the point just how cruel these games are and how humans in power are willing to do awful things for their entertainment and control. I am v excited too see you react to the next ones and read the books. I relate to a lot of characters in different little things, and it's a story I keep coming back to because there is so much to explore
She missed the first part during training because she wasn’t used to the drawback of the bow
In the Books the mutant dogs were based off of the dead tributes. Their fur was in the color and texture of the tributes hair and they used the real eyes of the tributes
That’s wild !!
@@mrflickswatches That's just another example of the sadistic aspect of the games. When you die, you die. But when you survive, you drag traumatic events like this one for the rest of your life.
I still remember when they showed the trailer on the big screen in a mall fans went crazy like it was so loud. Everyone cried about that gotta be honest hunger games is the best dystopian movie ever, the fact that the events from this movie kinda happened back in 2020 and until now. It’s so meaningful so many facts about the world very knowledgeable.
I can watch the franchise every week it’s just so fun
Yeah I wonder if it was only rue and katniss if katniss would even be able to kill her, especially since she would remind her of her sister. Rue is one of the sweetest people her death really hit everyone and then seeing the riot afterwards… it’s very impactful. Katniss is normal to have as a favourite character I think she’s pretty interesting. My favourite character in the whole series doesn’t come until the 2nd movie. If I was the saw what character I’m most like I’d say a word mix of katniss and primrose honestly
katniss monologues in the book, she 110% would’ve let Rue kill her had they been the last two left
Same I don’t have a favorite in the first one yet.
for anyone who doesnt like sitting to read, the audiobooks are just as awesome! great narration for it too!
The reason movies based on novels are better is because past stories have not been able to be put on screen until less than 100 years ago. The only way to pass those stories were passed down was through hand writing/stories.
That makes sense!
Something you missed about the movie: the wolf mutt things at end of Katniss’s first games were actually the bodies of the dead tributes turned into these mutts I’m disappointed it would have made for a much shocking scene that would have meant a lot more
For my favorite movie franchise, I absolutely love your reactions!
🤍🤍🤍
Every single time I see a tv show or movie I think is really good, it turns out to be based on a book. Film writers ain’t shit lol. Nice reaction :)
Yea I never realized how many movies were based off of novel and books. I think over 50% of them actually. Movies like The Godfather, Shawshank Redemption, Silence Of The Lambs, American Psycho etc etc.
Rue is probably everyone's favourite to some extent. Her death is really what sparks the revolution.
peeta like pita bread because peeta is the bakers boy
So I’m the books, the mutts have the eyes of the tributes, which really messes Katniss up psychologically because she sees the girls eyes who she killed with the tracker jackets and feel an innumerable amount of guilt.
Also, Thresh wasn’t Rue’s brother, however they did come from the same district.
Snow:*talks
This guy idk his name: *talks about his drink*
If you have a difficult time reading the books, listen to the audiobooks. They are great. Same goes for the Divergent series. You mentioned you liked it, but the books are better by far. Although, the movies are quite different later on. In the books, the outside population didn't have all that amazing technology like the barrier, the personal combat disks, etc.
Still, the core is there, and the books give you so much more detail. Plus, they never did make the movie for the last book in the Divergent series.
No difficulty at all just haven’t done it much but this series might make me start ! Loving it so far second movie was “fire” too🔥😌
Hunger games > divergent
Finish the series and I promise you will never think of divergent again
Word ?! Ok imma hold you to that I do love the divergent movies 🤯🤣
“Those are apples. What would they need tennis balls for? To play tennis?” ☠️ 😂
The girl that you said 'looks so angry-and familiar' is the girl from "Orphan'
😯😯 How did I not see that !! Thanks
Josh had been my celeb crush from the time I was 10yo until when I met my husband at 26yo, grew up watching him.
“Hutcherson, my guy! My guy!” Good you already know who to root for lmfaooooo. Sorry but Peeta is top tier and Gale is literally the sludge in the sewers!!! I can’t stand his character!!!!
I immediately subscribed when she hit him and said “you ain’t tough.” 😂
Use audible and y’all can listen to the book together
26:34 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Omg, I’m dying!
Okay so I'm 5 minutes into the reaction and I'm really enjoying it so far, but I just wanted to comment on that beautiful guava juice, good sir. Delicious! My family is from Brazil, so I grew up on Goya products. Those nectars are insanely good. Mango is my favorite, but I love guava too. Peach is amazing as well. Can't really go wrong. Subbed!
🔥🔥🔥 and yeah I have to try the mango next for sure your the second person to say that
The fact that it's Hughey from the boys that gets Rou with the spear.
Once you see it you can't unsee.
Hey guys! I honestly prefer the books, but it's because I've always been an avid reader and I love to visualize in my head what I'm reading. But I think the Rue situation had to happen in the moment that it did because I feel it fueled a fire inside of Katniss.
You are 10 years late my man 😂😂😂.
It's okay hope u enjoy the series..
Rue is a ebony queen
The reason the berries are there is, he has a choice of starving, eating the berries and dying, but he chooses option three and he decided to use the rope
7:40 : We wouldn't have hunger games per se, but in that world, I can understand the logic behind why the districts accepted. Because they had the choice to either have one in a thousand chances to see their kid be reaped, or they would see their district be destroyed "like district 13".
Two choices, 2 kids die each year, or 10 000 die in one battle.
Unfortunately, the needs of the many outweighs the need of the few...
I loved the hunger games movie and didn’t think i could fall in love with it anymore when they movies first came out, but then i read the books and just lost it. Even though they changed some things in the movie it was amazing and believe it or not the books are better but the movies are still soooo good
seriously. They did a great job adapting these books (in no small part because the author of the books worked on the movie) but there's only so much you can fit into a couple hours! Plus the constraint of not hearing Katniss' thoughts when that's the main thing happening in the books must've been hard to work around. Super worth it to read the books and get all the worldbuilding and events they had to cut
27:18 funny you mention his leg because in the books he actually loses his leg in the games.
Wow!!!!!!
The Careers’ motto was to STRIKE HARD FIRST, SHOW NO MERCY!!!!
I have the most in common with Hamish. Lol
Sweet Baby Rue!😢🫣🤧🥰❤
That's the point of the Hunger Games- put in kids in the arena, as a deterrent from more rebellions. This was used by the Capitol to crush the spirit in the district's. Books are amazing.
Her´s look allways if he jokes is like : HEY MAN take this movie serious ó_ò :D
You guys are so likable and good reactions! Subscribed!
Thanks homie ! Appreciate that 💪🏽🤍
My mom cried when she first saw this, Thi how could you not cry at Rue’s death
About movies made from books. I saw The Notebook before I read the book. The movie changed 1 incident that was so big that I couldn't read the book. I'm not sure how I would've felt if I read the book first. I've only read the first book in this series so far and I wasn't disappointed
that Mango Goya goes hard
I 100% recommend everyone read the books. The movies are great, but the books are top notch.
Love your reactions to the movie! New to the channel and I'm hooked!
Appreciate you Kelly ! 🙏🏼
Best moments from the man
13:51"hit one of them"
13:56 "oh shoot, no I was kidding" 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
16:03 "ooh"
25:50 "bradda man, bradda man."
28:11 "yo shut up with the odds bull sh*t. What is this? What?"
I've just read the first book and now I'm about to watch the first movie
I think the worst part about the movie adaptation is you don't get the context for the mutts at the end. Mutts, in this case hairless wolf-dogs, were engineered with the intent to kill and using the eyes of the fallen tributes. It's horrifying.
It's cool when we get some swag and humor in these reaction videos, and kinda awkward and unappealing when some *think* they do but can't pull it off.
7:42. They pretty much do /did China, USSR
reaction at 9:21 is GOLD 😂
My sister actually loved that part so much she made it into a GIF 🤣
Rue is a very important character all through the movies. So is Sinna. Catniss is obviously important , but to me she was not as impactful as Rue.
Best beard ever
The mango Goya is bomb
My guys reactions are actually fire!! I love how expressive he is and how he actually *reacts* to what’s happening onscreen. I can’t stand when reactors show barely any emotion throughout their videos. Also love how Mrs. Flicks looks at him whenever he says something dumb like “oh peeetaaa” but then she just breaks into a smile! Haha great stuff
Appreciate that ! 💪🏽🤍
Sir u have the most olive toned skin I’ve ever seen on a black man.

11:54 divergent was a cheap knock-off of the hunger games

I’ve seen it I just didn’t notice that was her lol
See Alice in boardland
Hunger Games is the American copy of a japanese movie called Battle Royal. One of the greatest movie of all time and the favorite of Quentin Tarantino
it’s absolutely not an american copy of battle royale and that should be extremely obvious to anyone who paid attention to the books or to the creatives who worked on the movies. i love foreign movies and hate american copies of foreign movies but THIS isn’t a copy of BR
I wish they could have done better work with The Infernal devices (shadohunters). It’s such an amazing book series and they ruined th the whole movie. Netflix series was much better but still not it.
