We just HAD to continue our Avatar journey with Korra! We finished the first Season already over on Patreon for anyone wanting to jump ahead! www.patreon.com/carlie_and_ange
Its not for me, it took me several years to finally finish it and thats me repeatedly being told by others its good give it a chance id watch like the first season and try to get past season 2 and would drop it cause i didnt like how they ret conned things and how the writing and characters felt more juvenile to me and things were not shown, they were told. They also to me spectacularly failed to make the spirit world more ominous and to be feared and respected like in the OG show they show how creepy scary the unknown and the spirit wold can be but in this show it was reduced to small cute things and trees... nothing rly delved into the spirit world and it wasnt as huge an impact as it should have been since this show tried to be way more in tune with the spirits. ALSO Avatar did amazing story telling by showing not telling, Korra felt like they told us everything and then big fight and told us the issues instead of the team struggling thro them and big fight, and the ret conns rly rubbed me the wrong way, almost to the point of changing the entirety of what the avatar is in general and it rly personally wasn't in my taste. I finally finished it thought it was fine, but thats it. i dont like it. i wouldn't ever re watch it, it took me long enough to finish it ans the only reason i pushed thro it was to get the flash back scenes with the OG gaang and nostalgia. But even those werent good and they wrote everyone rly out of character IN MY opinion of course. but thats just me if it speaks to a lot of people thats fine i personally not my cup of tea. I even tried to look at it as its own thing but it still rly upset me. wish i could enjoy it like others but i couldnt i hope u guys enjoy it more than i did.
the creators said that Aang died a little younger than most avatars due to living 100 years in the iceberg. I think Korra takes place 70 years after AtlA
@@NK-dt1kp He didn't live to 70. He died in his 60s. This is 70 years after (more or less) because Korra is also older than Aang when the show begins so the 70 years include that too (70 = 17 + X where X is how long Aang lived after the end of the show where he was around 13, so Aang lived to be around 13 + 53 = 66)
Also, the creators may have done their own math wrong, because between the amount of statues in the air temple and a little info from Season 2 Korra, and factoring in Kyoshi basically living the lifespan of three avatars, you need a lot of Kuruks dying in their 30s to 40s to make it work out. Granted, the more we go back the more it makes sense for the Avatar to die a violent death in battle or early on, but still, someone needs to bring down the curve because the average lifespan of an Avatar is 50something
@@oq1106 Oh it's been made very clear that maths weren't in the creator's minds when they developed the series. Kyoshi only lived that long because of a math error, the firelords' family tree is fucked because they didn't realise that 100 years is a long time...

It’s important to keep in mind when watching that Korra was written in sections. The first season was written and the writers didn’t know if they would get a second until after it aired, and same for the second. It was only in season 3 they knew they would get another book after.
@@gokulnair Nope. Entire Korra is garbage with a few good scenes scattered here and there. This is me talking as a critic. If I praise the show, I will say all of Korra is just as good as season 2. 😁
Surprisingly, Korra is way more of a firebender than any other type, both in personality and in her preferred bending type. Someone tallied up every use of her using each element through the series and she pulls out firebending the most. Which is super interesting considering fire is normally the opposite of water, but it just seems to come more naturally to her with her personality type.
It's also the element Aang had trouble with the most besides Earth bending, this is one aspect I love about the avatar cycle is that it's not perfect Aang struggled with the fighting aspects of bending due to his gentle and spiritual upbringing, so it overcorrected and made korra super good at the former but completely sucks at the latter
She's really a toss up between earth and fire as I see it, because her stubbornness knows no bounds, but she does have a lot of passion. Fire is just always going to be more convenient to use if you don't have water, aren't good with air, and don't want to completely dismantle public infrastructure. The fact that she never seemed to have any water issues says to me that her personality leans earth.
its surprising because it goes against the rules of the world set in the legend of aang. it doesnt make it interesting it makes it lore breaking. when writers cant follow their own rules its a red flag from a story telling perspective and no amount of head canon makes it right.
@@rollzmoist5061 what lore? Struggling with firebending and earthbending was tied to Aang's personality most of all, not his heritage. Fire is the element of lifeforce and power, so I see no "lore" issue why Korra wouldn't take to it easily.
The death of the previous avatar is the same time as the birth of the next, so Aang's death is exactly as long ago as Korra is old, it's not about when the powers manifest.
The thing is that there are much a whole lot of different stories which are not spoken in between Atla and Legend of Korra... Those were officially covered by the books they published... 1. If you pay attention to their commentary, it sums it up. Korra doesn't address very many of the questions fans have of the legacy of the previous show. It does have a lot of interesting new ideas and primarily focuses on expanding those ideas instead. Which is a bit of a disappointment. It's also highly sociopolitical. I love how different Korra is to Aang and we experience her own journey, season 1 and 3 are amazing, season 4 is good, the weakest being season 2 but it has its moments tho. Hope u guys enjoy the ride!!
Season two has Tony stark and the twins who are the best supporting characters. It also imo has the best lore expanding. I agree the main antagonist is pretty boring though
@habbito21 season 3 is the atla level but still not perfect. Too many characters introduced with not much development for many of them, the brothers become obsolete and completely underused, they also become parodies of their characters.
As much as I learned from Avatar and love it dearly, I learned soooo much from The Legend of Korra, especially as an adult. Korra resonated with me way more and identify with a lot of her story as I’m sure the same goes for most of the people who love this show just as much!
Unpopular opinion but to all the people saying Korra doesn't quite live up to ATLA, I'd say season 3 surpasses it, and korra tends to have better villains as well.
Azula was one of if not the greatest villain in cartoon history. Not Amon, Zaheer, Korra’s uncle or Kuvia comes close to hear brilliance. Ozai was also terrifying and the most powerful fire bender ever. LOK’s villains and other characters just can’t compare to ATLA.
ehhh season 3 has its moments sure, but lets be real there are things that are done in this show that completely ruins avatar going forward. u know like what happens to korra by the end of season 3 and the villains of season 3 is what made it memorable not so much the story. the story is just the same old generic bad guys trying to make some changes cuz they think they are the right ones.
YESSS cannot wait for this reaction. This series is so good, while season 2 can be a lull it still has its moments and isn't bad at all imo. S3 and S4 are some of my fav seasons of all of avatar so far
I love you carlie it took me like 3 years to watch the first season of korra because I'd get so sad whenever they said aang's dead, I always stopped the episode right where you began crying
This series is amazing, season 2 is the only down season but has IMO one of the best stories in it so it carries the season for me. i think you guys will love the series as a whole.
Some gaps will be filled in but the show is also good at being its own thing while carrying on a lot of good aspects from atla. Regarding the mixed reviews, its mostly because some seasons are much better than others. Atla was just getting better and better
Also AtLA focused on one major story with many side stories where as Korra has more stories and less side stores in general while also handling a new changing world and a more female cast of characters this time around. So we can see why it's a little divisive.
@@burns0100 its got nothing to do with female characters... we loved literally every female character in atla. its the writing in general across the board in korra really isnt good. it has a few haha moments, nostalgia bait and some badass fights... then it moves forward by undoing and destroying everything atla built up and stood for. thats why theres mixed reviews.
@@burns0100 I'm 1610% sure it has nothing to do with female characters it wasn't just appreciated and loved universally like atla some epic surprise for some people I guess: sexist people are actually rare in fandoms like this and having many female characters doesn't affect overall opinion at all
@@burns0100 I know you already have people on your case about it, but I just want to say I really don't like the 'cause of girls' argument. I don't follow the fandom particularly closely, but I have been in a few conversations with people over narrative problems with Korra and have on more then one occasion seen the "you just don't like it cause girl power" argument, both to me and to other people, used to try and deflect legitimate complaints about the writing. Its a weak argument because there is so little evidence for it outside of a select small group of people, and if I recall the original screen test group showed that both boys and girls of the target demographics had no issue with Korra being a girl, despite executive concerns. Its fair to say the show is divisive, but in the future drop the idea that its cause its ladies are in it, because every issue I have the legend of Korra stems from the writing and lore choices, not the genders. Trust me, I have issues with how the male characters are written too, Bolin's character 'arc' is a mess and was done dirty for virtually no gain.

11:56 - Beifong is Toph's surname, she's Toph Beifong. Which was known since her introduction episode. Also in regards to Aang, all the time he spent in the iceberg he survived thanks to his Avatar state power. However doing so sapped a lot of energy out of him in the form of vitality, hence he died younger than he normally would have as a result.
Someone described it best: Aang was someone who tried to be a person but has to learn to be the Avatar. Korra is someone who tries to be the Avatar but should learn how to be a person.
shes hands down the worst avatar and its not even close. shes the only avatar to do what she done and no amount of backtracking from the writers can justify it

Love your reactions and your music play. The show has its up’s and down’s. You know that ahead of time and the show is fine. Keep in mind that the show was made not knowing there’d be more seasons
Season 2 is the season most people agree on to not be "so good", to say it kindly. The way this series was released from season to season behind the scenes also had some influence on that. That said, the series overall is still awesome. Make your own opinion, I'll definitely enjoy watching your reaction!
For the advancements between the 2 shows youve also gotta factor in bending, having the different bending styles living together would help advance the city a lot. Fire specifically helps massively its why the fire nation was the most advanced in ATLA as steam power, steel working etc all are made a lot easier when you can control fire
I have rewatched this series many times...and it honestly gets better the more I watch it and the older I get. I love ATLA but I think I like Korra overall more.
WHAT THE HECK YEEEEESSSS. I love this show. I remember as a kid disliking it at first for being so different than the first avatar show which i was so loyal to, though I obviously still watched it. It is so worth it. I loved the animation and choreography in this show. I felt very stressed a lot of times though.
In case you're not aware, Korra is a "villain of the week" style show where theres a new villain every season. IMO, Amon is criminally underrated. Everyone raves about the others but hes cool too.
I love how the Avatar has aged with its audience. Aang was 12, Korra’s 17. The Kiyoshi and Yangchen books follow their stories when they’re in their late teens. And the 2025 movie is supposed to follow the original crew in their late 20’s-early 30’s. As we age, the characters in the Avatar universe age with us.
I’m so happy you guys are watching LOK! ATLA was lightening in a bottle but this show is so important to a lot of people and Korra is so relatable. Can’t wait to see what you guys think!

If you genuinely want to know why Korra is hated, search on youtube, Korra is garbage. You will find season wise analysis videos.
Your reactions are THE BEST ❤ i freaking love you guys
Pumped for this, I think you two will really enjoy this show (and I'm looking forward to enjoying it vicariously lol)
Season 3 is BEAST MODE incarnated.
Now I feel bad season two turned me so completely off that I never finished the series.
@habbito21 season 3 is the atla level but still not perfect. Too many characters introduced with not much development for many of them, the brothers become obsolete and completely underused, they also become parodies of their characters.
@@emkalina Completely agree, yet it is freaking awesome.
The Yue love is so cute
The music reeaaallly lifts it. Continuing the tradition of great Avatar music.
Enjoy the ride! Korra is an amazing show!
You guys will love the lore and villains in this show, can’t wait!
I remember the moment when Katara told that Sokka was dead... I screamed "Sokka is dead?" and started to cry
Like you know that when a new avatar is born, the old one dies, but hearing he died in the first episode still hits hard
As much as I learned from Avatar and love it dearly, I learned soooo much from The Legend of Korra, especially as an adult. Korra resonated with me way more and identify with a lot of her story as I’m sure the same goes for most of the people who love this show just as much!
To think J.K. Simmons went from a pacifist airbender to a murderous Viltrumite in Invincible
Always get emotional thinking about that scene in ATLA when Katara says “F*ck the police” and the gaang starts blasting NWA 🥹
Unpopular opinion but to all the people saying Korra doesn't quite live up to ATLA, I'd say season 3 surpasses it, and korra tends to have better villains as well.
Better villains than THE FIRE NATION? Bruuuuhh
@@jamesbutler3960 yes
ehhh season 3 has its moments sure, but lets be real there are things that are done in this show that completely ruins avatar going forward. u know like what happens to korra by the end of season 3 and the villains of season 3 is what made it memorable not so much the story. the story is just the same old generic bad guys trying to make some changes cuz they think they are the right ones.
finally, my favorite avatar is here.
I like that Korra just throws that man 20 feet through the air and through a wall 💀💀 she’s definitely my avatar bro, she’s about that action
2:40 join the club XD
I sense some serious tear bending in your future with this show!
It's time, it's here
I've been waiting for this ever since I found your TLA reactions
I've been waiting for this reaction for a long time 🙏
I am SO excited that you are continuing!
Katara can't catch a break with Ange hahahahahaha. I was all the time saying "ANGELOW!!" 🤣
Tenzin is going to show you guys how cool is the airbending. He's a legend, I love the way he fights.
Yes, come on. New adventure. Avatar Korra 🔥
I’m so glad hyped you guys are doing Kora as well, so good!
So stoked you’re going to be doing Korra! 🙌🏼🥳
YESSS cannot wait for this reaction. This series is so good, while season 2 can be a lull it still has its moments and isn't bad at all imo. S3 and S4 are some of my fav seasons of all of avatar so far
I love how Aangs grandchildren have an aspect of Aangs personality....and remember, earth bender's live really long lives 😉
I thought there would be a wait. Thanks for the upload❤❤
So we can see why it's a little divisive.
the reviews are mixed because the show overall is not as good as atla
Yall finally started the legend of korra yall gonna love it
Or hate it. Many people hate this show. And for good reason.
@@AnimeCriticalWell, considering how they reacted to the pilot, I think that's unlikely
Anyway, this show is great and I hope they have as much fun with it as I did when I watched it!
@@Loliston Carlie and Ange have never disrespected any show they watched, in the reactions. They always try to look for the smallest positives and try to talk about those. That is why, they have grown so fast and have such a huge following. But deep down, they will know that Korra will not even make their top 20.
@@AnimeCritical I mean, you're free to think whatever you want mate, but let's not put words on other people's mouths
@@Loliston Just as you said "it is unlikely", in the same way I also said.
Ange 🤣🤣 5:18 you silly kids 🤣🤣
Someone described it best:
Aang was someone who tried to be a person but has to learn to be the Avatar. Korra is someone who tries to be the Avatar but should learn how to be a person.
Korra fails at both. She is neither a good avatar nor a good person. 😂😂
shes hands down the worst avatar and its not even close. shes the only avatar to do what she done and no amount of backtracking from the writers can justify it
@@rollzmoist5061"the worst avatar" now I know you can't be saying that when Roku is there 💀
Best moment in the episode = 6:20
Carlie: Oogi, that's the other one name's ☺😄
Ange: It's not the time, Aang's dead. I can't shake it😫
Carlie: Sorry 😄->😗
Love your reactions so much, Guys!! Love from Ecuador 🤙🏻🇪🇨
Finally Legend of Korra !!!
Water is the element of change. Keep this on mind while you're watching Korra
Carlie and Ange, you both make me smile every day with your videos, and I can't thank you enough! Just wanted to share my appreciation :)
11:46 welcome to the vast vast land of Avatar theories
Let’s appreciate for a moment how strong Korra is lmao did you see the back muscles AND how she picked up three kids and Tenzin with so much as a struggle
Everyone else is on board from the staffing of ATLA to Korra except for Aaron Ehasz, who was the lead director of ATLA.
You guys are in for a treat!
Love your reactions and your music play.
The show has its up’s and down’s. You know that ahead of time and the show is fine.
Keep in mind that the show was made not knowing there’d be more seasons
'Why am I crying?' Better question, why am _I_ almost crying? Seen this countless times already
I love this series! Some of the stories get pretty crazy. They don't pull their punches in this one.
Ange - "That's destructive behaviour" Lol that Kora alright...
Season 2 is the season most people agree on to not be "so good", to say it kindly. The way this series was released from season to season behind the scenes also had some influence on that. That said, the series overall is still awesome. Make your own opinion, I'll definitely enjoy watching your reaction!
The whole of Korra is not "so good". Some of it is even "Pretty bad".
6:33 is the best moment of Carlie and ange so far😭😂😭😂😭😂
Amon's VA is so good. I get chills everytime I hear that voice
Kora has some of the best antagonists of all time. enjoy the ride
7:31 damn right Carlie, you tell'em.
For the advancements between the 2 shows youve also gotta factor in bending, having the different bending styles living together would help advance the city a lot. Fire specifically helps massively its why the fire nation was the most advanced in ATLA as steam power, steel working etc all are made a lot easier when you can control fire
Loved ur reaction guys
I have rewatched this series many times...and it honestly gets better the more I watch it and the older I get. I love ATLA but I think I like Korra overall more.
I was crying, please more
WHAT THE HECK YEEEEESSSS. I love this show. I remember as a kid disliking it at first for being so different than the first avatar show which i was so loyal to, though I obviously still watched it. It is so worth it. I loved the animation and choreography in this show. I felt very stressed a lot of times though.
Love this, thanks you two.
Nice, I really loved how all throughout the episode they just keep looking for past characters instead of focusing on the show.
aaaaaahhh so exciting!! you're in for a ride!!! LETS GOOOOO
In for a disappointment
@@AnimeCritical wrong! try again
@@Cattaract You're wrong. You try again.
@@AnimeCriticalI don’t have to, buddy. You’re still wrong to me.
@@Cattaract But you are wrong to the whole world.
6:31 That was the funniest bit of the video 🤣
In case you're not aware, Korra is a "villain of the week" style show where theres a new villain every season. IMO, Amon is criminally underrated. Everyone raves about the others but hes cool too.
Just once I want to hear a villain say, 'Oh, looks like we can go ahead and decelerate our plans, no rush'
This show is great! Appreciate it for all it is and try to avoid comparing constantly and you will love it
Even if you don't compare it, it is mid at best. If you compare it, it is garbage.
@@AnimeCritical lmao ok dude 🤣
I love how the Avatar has aged with its audience. Aang was 12, Korra’s 17. The Kiyoshi and Yangchen books follow their stories when they’re in their late teens. And the 2025 movie is supposed to follow the original crew in their late 20’s-early 30’s.
As we age, the characters in the Avatar universe age with us.
Like Percy Jackson 🙂
Oh my I’m so ready for the movie
Yeah like Percy Jackson
15:20 she is aang She was born when he died she’s his reincarnation. Cora is 16 that means he died 16 years ago The year she was born
They meant what happened as in how did he die
You gonna love it !!!!
i do love avatar aang haha i like the history but i dont like korra to much haha, but i hope you guys enjoy it
I’m so happy you guys are watching LOK! ATLA was lightening in a bottle but this show is so important to a lot of people and Korra is so relatable. Can’t wait to see what you guys think!
I am so happy you are watching this :D Can't wait for your reactions
As long as you manage to make it through season 2 you have up next an absolute and complete banger
