Keon, dadgummit, BE PROUD. I remember a video of, I think you said it was your second build, looked kinda like a city apartment maybe had brick or something, but you said something that really hit me. You said you wanted to make this kind of stuff accessible for people who usually wouldn't be able to go for it. That's a dream you've had for years and you're DOING IT NOW, and doing it WELL. I am not your momma, never met your mama, in fact I have never been and will never be a mama, but I'm as proud of you right now as if you were my kiddo. You're doing GOOD THINGS in the world and fostering diversity and accessibility. Hell yes.
Very well said, man. This guy has talent when it comes to building trailer campers. Hope to see more from him. PS: shout to the camera guy for ACTUALLY letting the guest speak and not cutting him off every fucking time and not making it sound like its a dick measuring contest. “Oh you got that item installed here just now? i got that in my van installed a long time ago.”
One of the best things about Keon builds is he never skimps on the shower and toilet area. I know many people are fine showering outdoors, no judgement there, but I just love having an indoor shower and toilet that I can use privately and peacefully. It's also great for elders and kids.
Keon, I love that you're always taking good ideas from the comments. One more benefit over van is not having to pay the insurance, registration, smog, ect on another vehicle. If you already have a truck, that's all you need.
I love how the community has many different builders for each style of nomadic lifesyle. I have been on the fence of getting a tiny home since i am a disabled vet and the barrier to entry was so high with vehicle costs. For me the trailer or Bread / Mail Truck square build would be awesome to help me save money from my disability and be able to travel rather easily as long as i have a vehicle that can tow a trailer or if i get a bread/mail truck in the future.
Great layout and design! This is one of the best tiny box trailer designs I've seen. The lighting scheme is really awesome-looking, especially with the toe-kick lighting, and having the kitchenette and bathroom at the head, rather than the rear of the trailer makes a lot of practical sense.
1. To address your natural lighting concerns, I might suggest you use a Max Air fan at the front and back of the trailer, so they can also be used for ventilation when off-grid. Additionally, a window in the side door would be a nice feature, so you can see who's knocking, if anyone knocks, while camped, but to stay stealth, use a window tint that obscures people from looking in that window. 2. To address the countertop space concern, adding a Lagun mount to the cabinet beneath the TV to add an additional table top would be good. You could add an additional mount to the cabinet beneath the bench to have that double as a dining table/desktop when using the bench. 3. To reduce the weight, you could frame your upright cabinet panels using poplar, filling the void with EPS foam and laminate over it all. That would also work well for interior doors. Also, if you use mirrors that are acrylic, rather than glass, you can reduce that weight. It all adds up, so saving a pound here and there makes a huge difference, even in a build that small. 4. Another way to cut weight, if the person is willing to make their bed, everyday would be to eliminate the elevator bed in exchange for making the sofa a jack-knife or futon-style bed. 5. I love the wood finishes you use, but anywhere you're not using wood to bear a load, you can use laminate over EPS foam, improving the overall insulation quality and reducing sound transfer, such as walls and ceilings. So long as there is sufficient framing to attach your fixtures and furniture, You could probably reduce the grand towing weight another 200-300 pounds by looking into the weight reducing suggestions I've given. I still think this is a phenomenal build, and as I'm getting ready to help my grandson build out a van for his first time, I can definitely say some of your concepts have inspired me for his build. I hope that my input is useful for future builds. I was a nomad 20 years ago, and I support the cause, even though my health and responsibilities prevent me from traveling full-time, these days. You're doing something truly good for many people who need cheaper housing or want to travel in style, when doing so recreationally. Jarrod chose well to feature your work.
I would suggest a peephole on the door for security purposes, or possibly a small camera that allows you to see if someone is outside, especially if you are in it with the back door up.
That little trailer is perfect for smaller cars. It’s actually livable because of the deck and cost. Side door. Ac. Heater. Insulation, stove, microwave. Omg so many people who are being gouged 2000-3500 a month for a studio or one bedroom or close to homeless could totally live here comfortably and secured. Love it. Towable is such a key. I’m seeing tiny homes getting huge. Vans bigger and bigger and expensive. The prices are right for this quality and amenities.
Just an idea You can use a portable stovetop to give yourself more counter space. Then you can also cook outside when cooking foods that you don’t want stinking up living area.
Bingo! We are currently working on a build that doesn’t have a cooktop inside since the clients prefer cooking outside. This is a great option for those with limited space, those who want to maximize their counter space, or those who enjoy cooking in the great outdoors
I would add a window in the door to bring in more light as well as helping to make the space feel more open and provide an opportunity to be able to see the view outside. As for more counter space, you could add a flip up countertop on the inside of the door, which could also double as a desk/workspace or a place to sit at to eat and just have a little foldable stool that tucks away somewhere. Also, in the kitchen I would take advantage of the wall space for more storage opportunities. You could frame out little nooks in the side walls with hooks and/or shelves to hang cooking utensils, store spices, dish soap, ect.. And to better use the storage space under the sink, I would add shelving or racks on the inside of the doors for things like cleaning supplies, trash bags, cooking wraps and whatnot. And maybe also do that on the inside of the closet door for toiletry items, makeup, or jewelry. You could also add more light in the space by adding a window in the back door/ramp that's strong enough to withstand the weight to walk on and be able to handle bikes or whatever you're loading in the trailer.
Thanks for the input! We hope to include more upgrades and new features in our future trailers. Make sure you follow our social media pages to stay up to date :)
@@TilghmanTrailers If you aren't already aware of them, Ladi and Margaret have very high quality, practical ideas and additions to their Van builds. Great and smart use of kitchen space with sliding spice racks, etc.
You are an inspiration Keon. Ever since I saw your last trailer I am sold. I just bought a truck and shopping trailers for the build out. It will take me a year to build out but you are true inspiration my guy! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is one of the most charismatic builders you've profiled . He's fun to listen to unlike some of the builders who are monotoned and seem bored . I 'd LOVE to have one of his trailers Much luck to him Peace out
I would consider putting a hatch where one of the skylights are so you can get more fresh air into bathroom area to take out more moisture and smells. I don't know if you've watched that DualEx guy. He has a lot of really cool ideas. One of them was building a chair and desk into the front of a kitchen cabinet.
This is amazing. I would most definitely be interested in one of these, maybe a little bit bigger, but I am satisfied with what you did here. I love how you are always thinking of improving the space especially with getting feedback from the comments and purchasers.
Great build out! Nice to see you incorporate some of the suggestions from the comments on the last video that means you're listening. Just an idea, I was looking at the back of your side door. You have dados cut into it. What if those dados were cut so you could slide in hooks or maybe a flip/up down table and if you didn't want to keep it there you can always remove it but you can configure it any way you'd want to. It just could give you a little bit more storage options but everything is great
Love this build! You should mount the next TV on a track so you can move it up when the bed is down. Would also be cool if you could pivot the TV for better viewing angles when the bed is down
Fabulous!!! Perhaps the entry door could include a window or glass & because your awesome at ideas..incorporating an interior shelf attached which lifts for additional counters pace & even lowers for use as an an outdoor table when open (like an adjustable shelf). Not only are your projects incredible you seem like an awesome human & always share credit.. CONGRATS 🎉
For more counterspace, recess the cook top and add a thin board over the top or make it removable (to use outside too). I cracked my glass cook top by dropping something on it so I put towels over it anyway. Love the extra storage in the shower.
I could invision living in that place. The color scheme isn't for me, but that is just personal preference. One thing that would be nice is if it could somehow be made with a rigid screen for someone with pets they don't want to get out. The way it is, the pest could just walk out. Other than that, it is beautiful. It is like a little apartment. It looks so very comfortable.
The modern layout is very nice with smooth cabinet fronts. The vinyl shower tile is very pretty. Love it. Not sure if it will stay adhered in regions with high heat, where we live. Smooth cabinet fronts are a must living in a dry, hot, dusty region. You have created an amazing trailer build!
If you use the Froli system for the bed, you can cut the thickness (and weight) of the mattress. It has the added advantage of mitigating any mold under the mattress due to added airflow.
This is perfect, you nailed it with the layout. I was never a kitchen fan when it came to these builds, I feel like it takes a lot of room. all I need a fridge, small sink & a air fryer 😂😂😂😂 I don’t need all that counter space. I’d prefer a bigger closet & bathroom. Bathroom because I don’t like when the toilet and shower are together, it has to be separate or some type of curtain to separate the 2. Closet has to be big for me because I don’t want it to just fit seven outfits and three pairs of sneakers. The bed would save a lot of room because everyone seems to get a queen, a full-size to me is perfect especially if you’re by yourself. Storage to me is everything. Ima have to get your # or something lol you seem to understand the builds better than anyone I’ve seen doing builds so far
CRACKS me up that people pay a stupid-fortune for crap like airstream when they could have this for a far more rational price... ALSO less likely to get broken into !
Keon inspired me to go with a trailer build rather than a van, I already have a Tundra so that actually makes a lot of sense. I'd be interested in floorplans in the future if he offers! I personally want to build my own because thats most of the fun for me. Love the builds
Beautiful! Great job, seriously! Ever since your first trailer video, I've been waiting to see more, so i was so excited when this popped up on my feed.
Functional and beautiful ,aesthetics. I’m in process of building rv using 12’ box truck with the goal to keep cost down. I went with Murphy bed since I’m tall. I also using senville minisplit for heat and a/c, cost $ 1200. No maxfan or a/c on roof. Enough room to fit 3 400 watt solar panels and 22”x48” skylight over bed. Wall mounted fan and vent in bath. Keep electrical cost down by using renogy charger solar inverter combo and two EG-4 100 amp 48 volt batteries
Hey Keon, (love that name!). You asked for feedback on adding counter space to the kitchen area. I immediately thought of a Murphy style device which would utilize the open area above the stove and underneath the microwave. It’s basically a shelf that can fold up and remain open or closed, depending on the need. I appreciate how open you are to suggestions, and how BEAUTIFUL your builds are! Keep it up! 😊👍🏻❤️
😊Use the side door to attach magnetic holders for knives, utensils, etc. Space on the wall between the door and the little book shelf can hold a fold down table, or even an extra chair/seating space. Could make a table pull out from the entertainment center (like the cutting board). Get the refrigerator that allows the door to open from either side! Adjustable shower head that has a removable head would be a must.
Love the trailer. A recirculating shower addition would be great. A filter system that cleans the water and feeds it back through the shower head allowing you to take a longer shower and not worry about running out of water.
OMG!!!!! I thought your fist trailer conversion was exceptional this one's out of the park Fantastic. Love the Bug screen and skylight. Suggestion For extra kitchen counter space make the pull out one a double fold, add a wireless phone charger.
I clicked this specifically because I thought there is no possible way I could like whatever is inside that little trailer and i'm shocked. Make one like this with a combo office/home theater instead of the couch + tv and I'm sold.
A follow-up roof after the ramp folds down will keep the dirty ramp away from the clean inside. Framed canvas fold up, light and easy shade or rain protection.
"Everyone loves a BIG DECK" 😂😂😂 Anywayyys, 🎶Movin' on u-up To the east side To a DELUXE TRAILER In the wi-ide open-en🎶 😂😂😂😂😂 Love, love, love this one!!!! Amazing!!! Be-a-u-tiful!!!! Been watching & seen all your builds....from the New York style brick wall in ur van to this one....gotta say, if you had/started your own business building things out, I'D INVEST!!! Great JobS!!!👏👏👏
This is such a GREAT option to a Van ! Especially great for a bigger person like me , (6.2), since the Van ceiling hight would get "old" really fast...lol... I LOVE the chopping block feature ❤ (Is there an outlet in the kitchen, to maybe keep one "cooking-plate-option"? I prefer the size you're showing. "12ft" But that's because I'll be "alone". I also prefer less windows, unless there's an option to do "sliding-covers" to keep it "stealthy, but also warmer", to cover the windows; if you travel to colder places. 😘
Digging the improvements, I’d add a shade to the skylight though. 1. For blackout when sleeping 2. Improve thermals for hot/cold 3. Reduce UV damage long term.
Keon, I have an idea for the kitchen prep space: Why not add another Lagun table mount near the kitchen? That way, you can add another kitchen prep space if the owner of the trailers are currently not using the table
Looks great! I would suggest covering the exterior door to match the rear door/deck. The indentations/slats is more difficult to clean and i see is already collecting dirt and will only continue to do so.
You can add a long tall window in-between the side door and book shelf of the entertainment center (behind you at marker 19:43) you can make it the height of the entertainment center, this will allow for a view of nature from the living room and sleeping area when the ramp is closed helping to eliminate the feeling of being closed in and it will open up the space, a black out shade the same color as the exterior will allow for privacy and keep the stealth mode.
This is so nice and clean I like this and actually where you are standing at by the security door I can Image 2 coat hooks for fall and winter overall so love this so clean and sleek built with love
You can an add fold down shelves on the backsplash and pm the side walls in the kitchen areas for extra prep or holding pots, pans, ingredients, etc., during the food prep or while cooking
You could but a window in the door to get a little more light in the kitchen area and with that mirror the light might be reflected into the other parts of the trailer.

Love, love, love this one!!!!
I LOVE the chopping block feature ❤
(Is there an outlet in the kitchen, to maybe keep one "cooking-plate-option"?
I prefer the size you're showing. "12ft"
But that's because I'll be "alone".
I also prefer less windows, unless there's an option to do "sliding-covers" to keep it "stealthy, but also warmer", to cover the windows; if you travel to colder places.
😘
Beautiful! Great job!
Thanks, thumbs up, have a great day.
Oh my goodness, it’s beautiful 😍
Digging the improvements, I’d add a shade to the skylight though. 1. For blackout when sleeping 2. Improve thermals for hot/cold 3. Reduce UV damage long term.
Beautiful. Great job.
Keon, I have an idea for the kitchen prep space:
Why not add another Lagun table mount near the kitchen? That way, you can add another kitchen prep space if the owner of the trailers are currently not using the table
Proud of you. Keep learning, growing, and building.
Looks great! I would suggest covering the exterior door to match the rear door/deck. The indentations/slats is more difficult to clean and i see is already collecting dirt and will only continue to do so.
Awesome build Keon 🎉
Nice design and execution!
Great trailer... Love the layout. Above the TV the shelf area you should put a window to let in more light
Great job! Very professional!
Beautiful work. Looks like quality.
It would be cool on the fridge to put it up high , like you said but hide it with the mirror😊 love the build
Loving this trailer, pretty classy😊
Looks good!
This gives me so much inspiration. ❤
Great video. You should do a glass sliding door where the kitchen is. It will have all that natural lighting. I do love it how you have it though.
This is so nice and clean I like this and actually where you are standing at by the security door I can Image 2 coat hooks for fall and winter overall so love this so clean and sleek built with love
even cooler when once the bed come down ou can raise the tv up a lil bit
This seems like a good case for on demand hot water.
Super cool and very well thought out. Would love to have that at the ski park.
You can an add fold down shelves on the backsplash and pm the side walls in the kitchen areas for extra prep or holding pots, pans, ingredients, etc., during the food prep or while cooking
Awesome build. Id buy this over any small rv. Would love to see a screened in deck on the back with a hard top!
The craftsmanship is wildly gorgeous!!! Maybe have the tv be able to swivel higher?
Nice work wish you were in North Carolina
I bet he can find a way to get you one there ;)
Totally agree. Im going to look into this to see how much it would cost for delivery to NC. I am so interested in buying this.
Wow! Outstanding work!
You could but a window in the door to get a little more light in the kitchen area and with that mirror the light might be reflected into the other parts of the trailer.
