    Impressed with Nicole and Edden on their most recent van build. I know it took many many hours to build, but also design! They gave a TON of really good info which is why this tour is little longer than other tours but I felt it was needed. Hope you all enjoy and please check out all my videos with some playlist links below.

  • @LilyWasHereMB

    I spent a couple of days boondocking in the National Grasslands in North Dakota last summer. If I had a solar sail like on Zion, I might have gone to bed gazing at the moon over Theordore National Park but awakened to a sun rise in Winnipeg, Alberta.
    Again, love the mag locks. Drawers and doors opening while in motion is the bane of vanlife existence. Mag locks are like, duh? So functional, not gimmicky. Mag locks should be standard in every build (hint, hint).
    Smart tint, so smart! I have ceramic window "tint" on all my windows, including windshield (clear, obviously) but that it does nothing for night time privacy. Another functional luxury that all vans should have. My list for Marc is getting longer!

  • @robwickham8530
    @robwickham8530 2 месяца назад +1

    This really resonated for me and my current build. Same location for bath, kitchen, dining, bed, minimal garage, full function (heat, a/c, lighting, etc). But, we used a non-extended Transit, Murphy, curtains vs doors in front and the bath. Jarrod saw ours in Enumclaw. I think within our more limited budget, we made similar choices for layout, influenced by not being full-time vanlifers. As a design and technology showcase, this is a lovely build and among the most distinctive. @SmartyVan has done some really relevant things using home automation that could be really sweet in this builds context. Kudos!

    Amazing work of art. Some people are really into practicality only and I can see how this van wouldn’t be for those who value functionality and saving money over something that is aesthetically pleasing. This van is for those who love art, interior design, and appreciate people pushing the boundaries of what van life can be while not comprising visually pleasing aesthetics. People who care about those things don’t mind spending more on a luxury item like this. Beautiful work.

      cost is always the biggest question and it's a massive swing in price when breaking it all down. If you were to do something like this build then cost of van + materials + systems used then your in the ballpark of 150-170k and that's NOT including labor cost if you have anyone do any of the work

    I feel like a bit of a creep mentioning anything on such a beautiful build and I only say it to possibly help someone else doing a ducted AC unit but one vent for for a unit of any size is just wrong. That unit probably requires at least four 4 inch vents with a much larger return than I see in the video. My apologies if there were more that weren’t mentioned. Maybe now that you’re working with a builder you guys could find a mechanical contractor to give you guys some unbiased advice on these units. I’ve never seen one of these that appears to be done right.

    • @JarrodTocci
      @JarrodTocci  2 месяца назад

      Have you done one yourself? Have you spoken to the owner of the AC company? Have you felt one running/in use? Have you looked at any of the installation instructions? My guess is no to all those questions. People don’t know until they know. This AC is not a typical mini spilt system. That 4 inch hole is exactly what is needed. That will cool the van down dramatically in a fast manner. If add more holes then it actually decreases the efficiency of the unit. Please understand I’m no thermodynamics expert, but I can assure neither are you. What I can say is I listen to the person that owns the company and knows better than everyone else

    • @michaelscarfi3196
      @michaelscarfi3196 2 месяца назад +1

      @@JarrodTocci The answer is yes I have done one myself although it was an undermount AC brand because I think cruise n comfort is overpriced and I think the compressor mounted in the van is incorrect although I see they are finally separating them. The answer is I have done many residential split systems and I have a working knowledge of how much friction is produced in a duct based on the cfm a unit produces. This is how a unit runs with a minimal amount of noise. Even if you are getting the right amount of air over the coil, one duct in one direction will not cool the whole van. Try sitting up front in the passenger seat with your ducts turned off to the AC on your side and tell me I’m wrong. Listen to the man who owns the company? I think that’s your mistake. I think you’re an extremely knowledgeable guy who works with a more knowledgeable guy but when you guys discuss heat or AC I see a lack of understanding the more advanced principles. I thought I was being kind the way I bought this issue up but apparently you can’t take the criticism the way you’re dishing it out by the plateful lately. Consult an engineer and if I’m wrong I’ll pay the fee.

      @Bluebelle-Sprintervancon-wc5br 2 месяца назад +1

      @@Shane.Dennnis Thanks for your reply Shane. Comparing home a/c to battery driven van a/c is false equivalency. Installation of a van a/c is , in my humble opinion, more of a sleeping need/comfort issue because they are still energy hogs and have to be run sparingly. Insulation plays a far greater role than 'friction produced in a duct' especially when the ducting is so short. I installed a CNC ICEBOX with 3' ducting run , two closable 4" outlets, one facing front, one back over the sleeping area. 3' duct run. Van heavily insulated throughout with closed cell foam insulation/Thinsulate combo. It rocks!

But I also like to show the pros so we can all learn some things. Builds like this one are innovative and it’s how the viewer perceives it. If you look at it from “that’s cool and I can do that” or maybe it sparks an idea you’ve wanted to do. Maybe you don’t need all the bells and whistles which saves the person a ton of money. Personally I watch shows like Owning Manhattan because it inspires me, not because I want to own a NY penthouse for 30 million.
